    I bought that welder about 4 years ago, put it thru hell, tried to trip the duty cycle on purpose, my hands always got to hot, had it for small repairs then even built an entire ornamental iron balcony with finally burned out the gun but the welder still comes on, a lot of the repairs where done with 150ft extension cord on a 20 amp circuit ( no choice due to repair location) well worth the price!

      Awesome! Thanks for watching and your comment. My hand has gotten uncomfortably hot a few times while using this but it never even slowed down because of the duty cycle. Great job doing all the stuff you did with yours, I’m hoping to get similar results. Appreciate you, have a great day and be safe!

    I just picked up this welder a bit ago and have been using it here and there fixing stuff on my own car. My buddy needed his exhaust fixed/welded back together and I'm no welder but I gave it a shot with the Titanium 125 and it came out pretty decent! can't complain for the price. Nice video

      Thank you for watching and your comment. Yes, that is exactly the type of stuff this welder seems perfect for and how I will be mostly using it too. It’s easy to set up and makes me look better than my skill level as a welder. Have a great day and be safe!

    Great video. I've been using a fan and opened the garage door. No respirator. The fan keeps the smoke off my helmet and away from where I'm welding. Works great! Your welds look to hot (I'm not a welder). I found the chart settings for my Titanium 270 are off. Welding 1/16" square tubing, I turn the voltage all the way down to 13 volts and adjusted the wire feed to 122 inches per minute. Worked great. No burn throughs. Good luck. Make every weld better than your last.

    The cheap flux core welders get fairly good penetration if the feed is set right, but there is alot of spatter to grind off when you're done. They do work well for lighter work up to 1/4' metal. I use mine alot to tack stuff together before I use my large stick welder to do the final deep welds on thicker metal.

    • @CopperBarnHomestead
      @CopperBarnHomestead  18 дней назад

      @@PainterD54 thanks for watching and your comment. Using it to tackle before stick welding the thicker metal is a great idea and I will definitely use that idea on my projects. Thanks again, have a great day and be safe!

    For Flux core, make sure the handpiece is connected to NEG, and the gnd clamp is connected to POS for less splatter.

    I am in welding school.. it’s amazing the difference of opinion the 4 teachers we have. I think think this is a great welder for our the price… been in school for 7 months, and still doing only stick welding??? Where that’s the least promoted, least asked for… and l least used… we destroyed the college education…. Are we now destroying the trades???

      Thanks for watching and your comment. I agree and think this is a great little welder for the price and for me as a hobbyist welder. Great job doing welding school, I would love to get some schooling and know more about it. I just try to copy what I see on youtube or read in books along with a lot of practice that I enjoy. There is hopefully a reason they are concentrated so much on stick but I wouldn’t know what it is. Stick (lol) with it and get certified, it should be a great career! Best of luck, have a great day and be safe!

      Stick is still the most used process for the building and pipe lining trades. Heavy fluxcore machines are making inroads in the building trades though. But these machines are far different from this little machine. I have an ESAB emp 205 as my main machine and I bought this to tack parts together that I make in my machine shop work. It’s fine for smaller, thinner work. If you get .035, it’s a bit better. It’s a fine machine for what it is. But the schools know what work their students can go for. It’s still considered best to get skilled at stick before beginning anything else. Additionally, each school specializes in some area. If the school specializes in pipelining, then pretty much all you’ll do is stick, likely 6010 and 7018. By patient. If you’re not, you’ll never get good at anything.

    You will notice on the chart on the lid that the .030 3/16 space has a dash instead of a value, and the other values have been changed. Something is going on. It is my belief that they reduced the price to be competitive but also re-engineered the unit with cheaper parts to reduce their cost. I've seen posts where people were welding 1/4" for short stretches before popping their 20 amp fuse.

    Whats the blue goo you stick the welder in?

    • @CopperBarnHomestead
      @CopperBarnHomestead  3 месяца назад

      Hey, thanks for watching and your comments. The blue stuff is nozzle gel, I believe that is the Hobart brand. It keeps splatter from sticking to your nozzle and keeps the tip clean while welding. It is more important for gas shielded welding because that crude can disrupt the flow of the shielding gas and create bad welds. Once I started using it I use it on all my torch tips. Have a great day and be safe!

    You need at least 5/8” stick out with fluxcore, even 3/4” isn’t too much. It takes that much stick out to properly melt the wire and the flux. If you hold it too close, say 3/8” as in MiG, it won’t work properly. This machine comes with a very good little manual. You should read it. Otherwise, don’t try to weld high carbon steel. That’s a specialized process with wire you can’t get. This is good for A-36 and 1018, the most common steels. By the way, any MiG machine is also a fluxcore machine if you turn the gas off and use the proper drive wheel.

    • @CopperBarnHomestead
      @CopperBarnHomestead  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching and your comments! Great advice on longer stick out, will definitely work on that next practice session as well as reading up with the manual. Appreciate your time helping us learn, it’s very beneficial! I really like the welding community, everyone I’ve run across has been helpful and encouraging. Even though this will remain just a hobby for me it makes me want to learn as much and be as good as I possibly can knowing what a great and helpful community welders are part of! Have a great day and be safe!

      @@CopperBarnHomestead well. Knowing the basics and practicing a lot will make a big difference. It takes several pounds of wire to get fairly good at any MiG or fluxcore process, or a good five pounds of sticks.
