Especially in terms of skill and attack potency Shanks styled himself after the Pirate King. Narratively it makes sense to have Shanks close to but not quite at Rogers level, so that Luffy after defeating Shanks can claim the crown.

I like to think that Mihawk helped Shanks out with training his arm. We know they met sometime after Shanks lost his arm and hefore Mihawk turned up with that wanted poster. It explains how Shanks got back his strength and why Mihawk is disapointed. He’s seen Shank’s current level.
The only characters I have above Shanks are Imu, Blackbeard, and Mihawk. I could also put Kaido on top because of his title, but his title has many flaws and doesn't have as much narrative importance as Mihawk's in my opinion. Zoro's entire ambition, goal, and character hinges on Mihawk's title being true. Or else Zoro will fail at achieving his dream and fulfilling his promise to Luffy and Kuina. And Imu and Blackbeard are basically Luffy's endgame opponents. And that Luffy will already have surpassed Shanks at that point.

You downplayed shanks heavily here in my opinion. Saying shanks future sight may not be that impressive when he was easily seeing double the length in the future katakuri was ever able to. Not to mention, Shanks might be top 3 in terms of speed feats in the series. Hes that guy, and the only people i can genuinely say are genuine arguments for being stronger than him are Blackbeard and Dragon. Some other wildcards are St. Garling and maybe Imu. Hes definitely lock top 5 alive though.
I think the future sight time frame is questionable there isn’t an accurate way of determining how long went by in the Katakuri wedding scene. I should’ve explained that better but it’s perfectly reasonable to say Shanks saw a longer distance in the future.

We also have to consider Imu : if the Five Elders have strong Haki, and even Conqueror's Haki for some of them, then Imu is almost guaranteed to be a top tier.

On the divine departure scaling you didn’t mention how Kids strongest attack, Damned Punk, blew up in his face point blank. That definitely did huge amounts of damage to him and should be considered when scaling divine departure.
Kid didn’t fire the Damned Punk so I wouldn’t scale the explosion to the attack in general. That said I don’t think it makes a difference especially considering Killer helped defend Kid he still got knocked out.

Also killer didn’t really defend Kid he sort of just made a move to but got caught in shanks attack and the explosion while not accomplishing anything. I definitely think the damned punk explosion put some real damage on kid.
I’ll put it this way. To me there’s no way that one of shanks attacks did more damage to kid than everything that big mom and kaido did during the entire raid. If there’s one thing kid is good at it getting hit hard and getting back up. So for kid to be dying and unconscious after shanks attack that explosion must have put in some work. At least that’s my reasoning.
haki causes explosions you would have to prove it wasn't a haki explosion. Also shanks attacked kid during the 10 seconds, so you can argue kid didn't even charge the attack

Shanks is my favorite one piece character. I love this man. I gotta say though, I doubt he is the “strongest” at least in the classical sense. His character is like Luffy imo (fitting I know). His strength comes from his ability to bring out the best in his crew. Not to say either of them are weak. I just think that their true potential would never be reached in a classic 1v1 situation.

In my opinion, after timeskip there was only one character that was stronger than Shanks currently alive in the verse and that was Kaido. However Shanks has to be extremely relative to Kaido because he stopped him from Marineford. Now that Kaido is gone, I think Shanks is the strongest charcter in the verse that are scale-able (with feats) not including Imu.
Great video, both Shanks and Mihawk are really interesting characters and i can't wait to learn more about them. I honestly always thought of Shanks and Mihawk as mostly equals to each other even now i know both of there fans would hang me for daring to say that but i honestly don't care that just my opinion. Databooks don’t matter. The statement of Whitebeard Pirates being the strongest is contradictory to the Red Hair Pirates being stated to have the highest average bounty and best balance of any crew. So I think that statement was just hyperbole to remind readers the WB Pirates were no joke. I don’t think the portrayal of when the crew shows up was that they just showed up to lose. It was never stated they ended the war because they achieved their goal they (the Marines) stopped because they were intimidated. Akainu in particular was sweating buckets and Shanks has already shown he can literally low diff Admirals. Saying the WB Pirates couldn’t defeat the Marines isn’t really accurate either Whitebeard nerfed which caused a lot of issues Shanks is by far stronger than Kaido Oda just wrote himself into a corner the only explanation I can think of is he knocked Kaido into the ocean. It’s also pretty obvious what the author is trying to depict when Shanks and Green Bull it wouldn’t make a difference if he knew it was coming and what about afterwards he should be able to focus up by that logic. I like to think that Mihawk helped Shanks out with training his arm. We know they met sometime after Shanks lost his arm and hefore Mihawk turned up with that wanted poster. It explains how Shanks got back his strength and why Mihawk is disapointed. He’s seen Shank’s current level.
The only characters I have above Shanks are Imu, Blackbeard, and Mihawk. I could also put Kaido on top because of his title, but his title has many flaws and doesn't have as much narrative importance as Mihawk's in my opinion. Zoro's entire ambition, goal, and character hinges on Mihawk's title being true. Or else Zoro will fail at achieving his dream and fulfilling his promise to Luffy and Kuina. And Imu and Blackbeard are basically Luffy's endgame opponents. And that Luffy will already have surpassed Shanks at that point.

You downplayed shanks heavily here in my opinion. Saying shanks future sight may not be that impressive when he was easily seeing double the length in the future katakuri was ever able to. Not to mention, Shanks might be top 3 in terms of speed feats in the series. Hes that guy, and the only people i can genuinely say are genuine arguments for being stronger than him are Blackbeard and Dragon. Some other wildcards are St. Garling and maybe Imu. Hes definitely lock top 5 alive though.
I think the future sight time frame is questionable there isn’t an accurate way of determining how long went by in the Katakuri wedding scene. I should’ve explained that better but it’s perfectly reasonable to say Shanks saw a longer distance in the future.

Btw, to expand on your shanks future sight point, katakuri in his introducation was able to perfectly retell the future that he saw to capone bege, if you count the amount of words he said and use the average speaking pace of 150 words per minute, you can estimate that katakuri saw 12-15 seconds into the future (which luffy and maybe kaido scale to) which is a whole 2-5 seconds more than shanks, and shankstards will convince you he’s the best future sight user with no evidence 😂😂😂😂😂

On the divine departure scaling you didn’t mention how Kids strongest attack, Damned Punk, blew up in his face point blank. That definitely did huge amounts of damage to him and should be considered when scaling divine departure.
Kid didn’t fire the Damned Punk so I wouldn’t scale the explosion to the attack in general. That said I don’t think it makes a difference especially considering Killer helped defend Kid he still got knocked out.

Also killer didn’t really defend Kid he sort of just made a move to but got caught in shanks attack and the explosion while not accomplishing anything. I definitely think the damned punk explosion put some real damage on kid.
I’ll put it this way. To me there’s no way that one of shanks attacks did more damage to kid than everything that big mom and kaido did during the entire raid. If there’s one thing kid is good at it getting hit hard and getting back up. So for kid to be dying and unconscious after shanks attack that explosion must have put in some work. At least that’s my reasoning.
haki causes explosions you would have to prove it wasn't a haki explosion. Also shanks attacked kid during the 10 seconds, so you can argue kid didn't even charge the attack

Shanks is my favorite one piece character. I love this man. I gotta say though, I doubt he is the “strongest” at least in the classical sense. His character is like Luffy imo (fitting I know). His strength comes from his ability to bring out the best in his crew. Not to say either of them are weak. I just think that their true potential would never be reached in a classic 1v1 situation.

In my opinion, after timeskip there was only one character that was stronger than Shanks currently alive in the verse and that was Kaido. However Shanks has to be extremely relative to Kaido because he stopped him from Marineford. Now that Kaido is gone, I think Shanks is the strongest charcter in the verse that are scale-able (with feats) not including Imu.

Great video, both Shanks and Mihawk are really interesting characters and i can't wait to learn more about them. I honestly always thought of Shanks and Mihawk as mostly equals to each other even now i know both of there fans would hang me for daring to say that but i honestly don't care that just my opinion. While i do think both of them are some of the strongest in the verse there are three characters i would personally put above them which are Dragon, Blackbeard and Imu.

Databooks don’t matter. The statement of Whitebeard Pirates being the strongest is contradictory to the Red Hair Pirates being stated to have the highest average bounty and best balance of any crew. So I think that statement was just hyperbole to remind readers the WB Pirates were no joke. I don’t think the portrayal of when the crew shows up was that they just showed up to lose. It was never stated they ended the war because they achieved their goal they (the Marines) stopped because they were intimidated. Akainu in particular was sweating buckets and Shanks has already shown he can literally low diff Admirals. Saying the WB Pirates couldn’t defeat the Marines isn’t really accurate either Whitebeard nerfed which caused a lot of issues
Shanks is by far stronger than Kaido Oda just wrote himself into a corner the only explanation I can think of is he knocked Kaido into the ocean. It’s also pretty obvious what the author is trying to depict when Shanks and Green Bull it wouldn’t make a difference if he knew it was coming and what about afterwards he should be able to focus up by that logic. Jozu’s words likely just mean prepared as in strong enough as there’s no moment once in the series this was emphasized. Also you have to ask how is one not prepared for king’s in the first place? Yamato has it and he wasn’t affected by her will and it’s obvious if Luffy just shot a random blast he wouldn’t freak out
RHP having the highest average bounty doesn’t mean they’re the strongest and we know they have a smaller crew which would help their averages. Regardless the narrator itself said WBP were the strongest crew at the time.
