THIS FILM! the best. There's that meme going round: 'girls don't want boys, girls want classic barbie films to be on netflix' which is scarily relatable.

I know the feeling mates. This movie was a staple in my sister’s childhood, and I naturally ended up exposed by proxy. Definitely the best of the bunch, and I can totally see the influence that it had on Tangled :)
Its so sad that Kelly doesn't exist anymore. She was in a lot of the older movies, and its almost impossible to find a Kelly Doll. No one remembers Kelly at all.
We actually has a huge argument going on because we didn't know they changed the little sisters and my mom was a Skipper kid, I was a Kelly and my little cousin is a Chelsea and we all tought the others were insane

@Eternal Snow i just thought it was really creative and the dancing was gorgeous. Barbie had no love interest, and the one where she PLAYS odette doesn’t count cause she was tryna live, so that was cool. And the fact that they changed it up a bit with the whole “he recognized the fact that she goes with the flow rather than sticks to the choreography” that part gave me goosebumps PERSONALLY. I also adore the dance she did alone as jezelle. And then the ending was everything. Listen to the beat of your heart is a bop and the dance was amazing. And i loved how throughout the story, the people in her real life played people in that story (aka tara’s dad as rothbart, or the annoying teacher as the icequeen wanting everything to be perfect in both real life and the story, or tara being odeel because at first she wasn’t very supportive and she seemed kinda show offy, and prince sakefreed being tara’s real life dance partner because he was always supportive since the beginning) and i also got goosebumps when she defeated the ice queen. Bonus points to how FUNNY hilarion and ablrecht are as a duo. I adore them together. Barbie pink shoes is, to me, the best NEW barbie movie. It doesn’t beat the classics, but it’s so good to me. In particular the four first because for me, it marks the time where I became too old to play with Barbie dolls (I was 10 when " Barbie in the Swan lake came out)
There's a Sailor Moon character called Berthier. She looks similar to Elsa (even the hair), has ice powers and sister-issues. xD It might be a coincidence, but I'm not sure.

honestly barbie as rapunzel and barbie as swan lake and barbie as princess and the pauper and the nutcracker and the magic of pegasus will always remain as my favorite barbie movies of all time and watching you watch barbie as rapunzel bring so many magical memories
it took me out every time, when rapunzel's hair got chopped off, everyone else was DEVASTATED but rapunzel was just inconvenienced at best. she really took that like a champ
When I was a kid and watched this, I never understood the "She sure is mad at somebody" line, because I never realised that the photo was slashed. I just saw it as the man wearing a really wide brimmed odd hat. xD
Wait what!? I was just watching this movie on drugs (not me on drugs but the editing) and i still saw it as a weird hat. That makes so much sense why the rabbit responded with "or his head". I thought he ment to say that the guy is crazy to date her
Magic of Pegasus was my favorite 😁 Barbie’s character actually spends time with her love interest through the entire film so there’s good romantic development especially because they act like they hate each other at first before they fall in love and I love romantic dynamics like that 🥰
I remember when I was a kid I would watch this everyday and when I say I BEGGED for her ball gown for Christmas every year. Eventually my parents bought me a dress up costume version of it and I NEVER took it off until it fell apart.
I agreeee, my God tier Barbie movies are the first four: Barbie in the Nutcracker, Barbie as Rapunzel, Barbie of Swan Lake and Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper. But Barbie as Rapunzel left me speechless as a child and it still does as a 20 year old, wow it feels magical literally.
I just watched this and I'm gonna start watching all of the old barbie movies again I used to be such a big fan of barbie and seeing the most recent release of barbie and feeling betrayed I came back to watch a barbie movie ❤. I remember once more why barbie is so loved. She's strong and true, but also kind and generous. She would never harm anyone on purpose but would always defend herself and her loved ones and stand her own ground. She doesn't complain about what she doesn't have and she does her best with what she does. She's not arrogant and she's patient. She's supportive and accepting. She's an inspiration. People say she projects unrealistic expectations, but I feel like she's a role model of sorts. True we all have weaknesses but life is about recognizing them and learning to be better right? And barbie shows how to do that. And plus, songs from barbie movies slappp. My personal favorite is every single song from the Diamond Castle " Belieeeve, and sing from your heart you'll seeee. Your song will hold the keyyyyy" 😆❤ Maybe the experience is different for those raised in western countries tho. Things seem more complicated over there...
Which gothel is the most evil? This one or the one in Tangled? Gothel there was lying to her and keeping her imprison in the tower but she never destroyed her favorites things or toys. This one is far more despicable! Not only she lied about Rapunzel's parents during years, she also treat her like a slave AND pulverize her only chances to escape. This witch is way more evil than the other gothel O-O I love the dresses in this movie, they are so creative and pretty. The Bo beep one is nice and the first one too :D Love the music, she's smooth and angelic!
I think Tangled's Gothel is a more compelling villain. The gaslighting/manipulation is - in my opinion - much creepier and a lot more realistic than just, well, being evil 😁
@@juliad.2225 Not to mention Disney's Gothel didn't have any magic powers. She used her power of manipulation to trap Rapunzel for so long. It's scarier because anyone has the capability to be that version of Gothel.
I think this one us the most evil. In " Tangled ", Gothel treats Rapunzel as her own daughter despite the fact she forbid her to go out but here, she considered Rapunzel as to work for her to pay a debt
@@thebestofstephx Magic of Pegasus was my favorite! Amazing ice skating, one of the best Barbie villains, and an adorable polar bear. It’s a fun adventure, and they go to this Cloud Kingdom I was obsessed with. I collected the dolls of the Cloud Queen and princesses, who are the Kellys in this one. We had a special 3D version, and there’s an awesome picture of my cousins, sister and I all lined up on the coach, with our fold up pink 3D glasses on, completely invested.
@@thebestofstephx you’ll LOVE The Magic of Pegasus! It has my favorite romance couple in the entire franchise. Aiden is best boy! 🥰 and Shiver the polar bear cub is adorable
Pegasus is a bit too dreamy + it always seemed like a bland copy of Swan Lake (girl transformed into a flying creature/ purple horse / evil wizard / good queen / troll giant in both films etc)... but I did like the pegasus horse toy + little Kellys with flying ponies
My favorite was 12 Dancing Princesses. I would always dance around during and after the movie. I couldn't afford to take ballet classes but that's the movie that developed my love for ballet. Every year I go to see Swan Lake and the Nutcracker. Old Barbie movies are honestly the best thing ever. I always get nostalgic watching them.
I love this film so much. This film was responsible for getting me into art. Especially (if anyone had the DVD) the Artist in Me that was a documentary type of thing on the title screen. I would watch that whenever I watched this movie.
When I was a kid doing theatre classes one of my instructors was actually the voice of Barbie across many of the films (including this one) - Kelly Sheridan!
8:21 Off topic rant but as an artist, this scene makes me SO MAD. I would lose my shit if someone messed with my art supplies...all the really good art supplies costs a lot which is why I don't let anyone touch my copics and so on. Big canvases are especially expensive!! Most of all though, I spend half an hour to 3 on a single piece of my cartoonish art so imagine how much time and passion Rapunzel spent on those LITERAL MASTERPIECES!!!
The footstep sounds the Foley crew made at 3:46 and before she walked on the steps, was the first time I experienced ASMR. I found out how the sound was made and instantly needed to have that job. It sounded so good! and as a kid I called the sound “creamy” (idk why 🤦🏽♀️) but it started my career choice lol
This one, the princess and the Pauper is the best, the nut cracker creeped me out. Last year I went on a binge to watch as many Barbie movies as I could as most I have never watched, and I much prefer the older ones even tho the graphics were pretty shocking
I was only 3 to 4 years old with it came out. My older sister got a VHS copy, and before i did watch Barbie in The Nutcracker only once. I had a few opportunities to watch it. And i will say, i did like it back in the day. Rewatching it recently, despite the outdated animation, i still enjoy it, the soundtrack is a major highlight of the movie.
The score for this film is phenomenal. Once we went from VHS to DVD, I would listen to the DVD menu music over and over (the music from when she's designing her dress). So freaking good.
As a guy, I love this movie. My little sister used to watch these movies religiously and you can't help but watch every now and then. The music is so good in this movie. This and Princess and the Pauper were the shit.
Mad respect. I watched them myself when I was little (Rapunzel was always on request because I adored Penelope, her picture on the cover being what drew my attention when picking it out from the video store because I loved anything involving dragons, especially good dragons), though my older brother gave me endless shit for liking them. They have some good morals and much better characterisation than I remember in retrospect.
This one is my most fav movie, it gives me the most nostalgia cuz I remember being sooo obsessed with it. The intro really got me and the whole movie kick started my interest in art :3
Hey I know this is only loosely related, but theres a Tangled tv series and it's literally amazing and nobodys talking about it. So if you find the time, could you please react to the sequel Tangled: Before Ever After (cause it segways into the series) and then Rapunzels tangled adventure? It has a different art style but all the same voice actors and I think the art style makes it better. The music is fire and they added some really interesting characters. I promise it's worth the watch.
Honestly, I wouldn't have been so into art if I hadn't watched Barbie as Rapunzel as a kid. Also, I loved playing the art game on the DVD because that would be my first introduction to classic paintings. The dresses, the paintings, and the magic in the art will always have a special place in my artist's heart.
I loved this movie so much!! I had the play set with the tower and paintings that went from blank canvasses to full paintings with water, and the doll had hair that got longer if you pulled it and then shorter with a button. The movie came with the set on vhs and I watched it *so much*
I had this on VHS in 2002 for my 7th birthday from my older brother and sister and my parents when i was in 1st grade i keep watching it nonstop after school daily I've watched it with my sister Me and my cousins had a sleepover at my house and we watched it in my room 😢 Memories Its one of my favorite childhood movies Stefan sounds like my older brother's name Javon 😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks Mommy and Daddy and Javon and Erica for giving it to me for my birthday
This film is one of the reasons why I became an artist, that and the show Art Attack. Strangely enough, I was terrified of the film when I was little, due to Gothel and the dragon, but now I enjoy it.
Let’s just take a moment to appreciate Stephanie for making the amazing, hilarious videos! Out of every youtuber I’ve seen react to something, this is %100 the best one.
Oh my god, It made me so nostalgic because I loved the soundtrack and the transformation scene. When " Tangled " came out, I refuse to see it because for me, this movie was the only Rapunzel story (the closer one of the original tale too)
Because of this film i started painting and drawing as a child, I wanted to be like Rapunzel. Now I'm studying interior design and i'm still painting from time to time (and I still love it ❤️). And this is hella nostalgic for me 😆
My fav is the Princess and the Pauper. That is actually the most fav if you find a list of fan favs. But I will always love Constant as the Stars Above. Barbie is my guilty pleasure lol
I was a tomboyish kid and wasn't fond of barbie dolls but this was the first Barbie movie I watched and since then I had a secret love for Barbies. I'm an artist so the idea of painting worlds that become portals was such a dream ✨ I love that her best friend is a dragon and that she was no damsel in distress waiting for a prince to come and save her. As a kid, this was my perfect fantasy :)
I probably watched this one the most , but The Princess and the Pauper is always going to be my favorite. It's hilarious and the music is amazing. Swan Lake had the best clothing design, according to my childhood memory.
I LOVE Penelope in that scene! "Oooh! She sure got mad at SOMEBODY! Wouldn't wanna be in HIS boots!" I love how Penelope is the supportive roommate, "Ooh! What was his name?"
While Barbie Nutcracker is my favourite, I've seen this movie more times. It's the better movie, honestly. I rewatched it during lockdown last year - at age 23 haha
Barbie makes up my childhood The secret door Princess charm school Rock n royals The lost princess The 12 dancing princesses Three musketeers There are so many more I love them
I remember this movie was the only thing I had downloaded so I had memorised the entire thing since I watched it a million times! 😅It also kinda inspired me to do art and I remember trying to recreate the paintings in it! ahhh memories 😌🎨✨
Barbie as Rapunzel is my favourite Barbie movie that I finally got the DVD and I watched it after I finished Happily Never After franchise! I always hate Gothel, she reminds me Lady Tremaine! In my opinion she is more inspired of Tremaine especially in her bedroom scene where she drinks tea and Otto is more like Lucifer that he tries to eat Hobie like Lucifer tries to eat Cinderella's mice and they are both failed to eat them! Gothel is my favorite Barbie villain and she's the best and she could be more perfect to connect with Frieda and Lady Vain from Happily Never After franchise! I love this movie together Disney Tangled! It's the best Barbie movie that I ever watched! And Meryl Streep played the witch (Gothel) in Into the woods, I'm so curious about Tangled live action!
I haven't seen this movie in years, but I remembered every scene you reviewed. This movie is gold! As is this review! Thank you for bringing me this amazing nostalgia trip. ;)

They have some good morals and much better characterisation than I remember in retrospect.
All of the classic Barbie movies are beautiful, they have this ethereal, magical soul that new Barbie movies now aren't able to replicate🤧
I have such a deep seated connection to the introduction music- like core memories that you unlocked with this video lol
Penelope the dragon was voiced by the same actress who did Cleo in Clifford the Big Red Dog, Cree Summer.
THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD!! Along with swan lake and princess and the pauper
The dress painting scene is a staple in my childhood. ✨
I wanted the paintbrush just for that
This one is my most fav movie, it gives me the most nostalgia cuz I remember being sooo obsessed with it. The intro really got me and the whole movie kick started my interest in art :3
I have all Barbie movies in DVD, I'm 28 years old and I'm proud of my collection :D
Me too T.T but i've lost it because i have too much stuff hahaaha
YEEESSS!! im so glad im not the only one who has seen it. Whenever i occasionally bring it up, no one remembers it

The color scheme of this movie was SO gorgeous!!
the noises in the film are so satisfying
Hey I know this is only loosely related, but theres a Tangled tv series and it's literally amazing and nobodys talking about it. So if you find the time, could you please react to the sequel Tangled: Before Ever After (cause it segways into the series) and then Rapunzels tangled adventure? It has a different art style but all the same voice actors and I think the art style makes it better. The music is fire and they added some really interesting characters. I promise it's worth the watch.
People talk about it! People - me.
I second that. TWICE! Both are great!
Girl I totally agree! I can't even tell how many times I watched this as a kid hahah
You forgot about one thing that made this movie top tier..
“Give him to me, Ughhhnnnn~”
Y E S
Yup
"Oh NOW you can aim, Tommy!" I died XD
Honestly, I wouldn't have been so into art if I hadn't watched Barbie as Rapunzel as a kid. Also, I loved playing the art game on the DVD because that would be my first introduction to classic paintings. The dresses, the paintings, and the magic in the art will always have a special place in my artist's heart.
The brush only changed into a paintbrush because she made a silent wish to the stars that she was going to be free...I think😅
I loved this movie so much!! I had the play set with the tower and paintings that went from blank canvasses to full paintings with water, and the doll had hair that got longer if you pulled it and then shorter with a button. The movie came with the set on vhs and I watched it *so much*
I had this on VHS in 2002 for my 7th birthday from my older brother and sister and my parents when i was in 1st grade i keep watching it nonstop after school daily I've watched it with my sister
Me and my cousins had a sleepover at my house and we watched it in my room 😢
Memories
Its one of my favorite childhood movies
Stefan sounds like my older brother's name Javon 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks Mommy and Daddy and Javon and Erica for giving it to me for my birthday
By far the best movie of all that I still remember it 20 years later and now I have my daughter watching it 💗💗💗
She likes it ?
Definitely the greatest
Especially the asmr footstep chase
❤️
This was Rapunzel growing up for me, I still think it’s better then Tangled but it might just be nostalgia 😅
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
I see no lies 😌👑

Your very welcome!
HOLY SHIT!
THAT'S THE CASTLE THAT HAS BEEN IN EVERY ISEKAI SHOUJO MANHWA I'VE READ!! How!?
Oh my god, It made me so nostalgic because I loved the soundtrack and the transformation scene.
When " Tangled " came out, I refuse to see it because for me, this movie was the only Rapunzel story (the closer one of the original tale too)
Because of this film i started painting and drawing as a child, I wanted to be like Rapunzel. Now I'm studying interior design and i'm still painting from time to time (and I still love it ❤️). And this is hella nostalgic for me 😆
YES YOU'RE RIGHT QUEEN
honestly i rewatch barbie as rapunzel like at least once in a few months
My fav is the Princess and the Pauper. That is actually the most fav if you find a list of fan favs. But I will always love Constant as the Stars Above. Barbie is my guilty pleasure lol
I definitely agree some of the other Barbie movies are really good too but the Rapunzel one is the best to me.
I love barbie so much that my hair style is always based off of Barbie rapunzel and odete from swan lake through my elementary school years.
Hearing the opening of the movie for the first time in 10 years gave me chills.
This movie is the reason why I am an artist right now
I love Your reaction when you remember that Goffle woe Rapunzel’s hair
I probably watched this one the most , but The Princess and the Pauper is always going to be my favorite. It's hilarious and the music is amazing. Swan Lake had the best clothing design, according to my childhood memory.
I LOVE Penelope in that scene!
"Oooh! She sure got mad at SOMEBODY! Wouldn't wanna be in HIS boots!"
I love how Penelope is the supportive roommate, "Ooh! What was his name?"

Tower, tower, do your part
This movie made me really into art and painting. I Loved this movie as a kid.
“I’m so sick of this weasel lemur thing” 😂😂🤣 I’m dead
While Barbie Nutcracker is my favourite, I've seen this movie more times. It's the better movie, honestly. I rewatched it during lockdown last year - at age 23 haha
God, I was literally obsessed with this movie as a kid. I watched it every time i was over my grandma's house. The nostaliga is hitting me so hard rn.
“How did her hair grow back so fast?!”
Uh because it’s magic?
No, they just wait 🤭
I literally think I could recite all barbie movies from the first generation
Barbie makes up my childhood
The secret door
Princess charm school
Rock n royals
The lost princess
The 12 dancing princesses
Three musketeers
There are so many more I love them
I remember this movie was the only thing I had downloaded so I had memorised the entire thing since I watched it a million times! 😅It also kinda inspired me to do art and I remember trying to recreate the paintings in it! ahhh memories 😌🎨✨
This movie plus fairytopia where my two top favorite Barbie films ever!❤😂
This was definitely my fave movie when I was younger. Along with Barbie in the nutcracker.
Lmao as an artist that painting exploding scene was so scary lol
When I'm little kid I have this Barbie Rapunzel doll and I love her so much but when I'm back home I go to my room and I can't find her I feel sad
I looooove Barbie as Rapunzel and Barbie in the Nutcracker. Both are very nostalgic for me. I miss my childhood 🥺✨
I haven't seen this movie in years, but I remembered every scene you reviewed. This movie is gold! As is this review! Thank you for bringing me this amazing nostalgia trip. ;)
This, Barbie and the Nutcracker, and Magic of Pegasus were my top three favorite Barbie movies when I was a kid!
