I can think of only maybe three or four games that are better examples of ones I just knew for certain I would never, ever see the end of than 8 Eyes. These old, cryptic games really captured my imagination in childhood.
I remember having a lot of fun renting this. I may have played it for the first time at a Nintendo Power Fest. The idea of a second player being able to control the bird was such a cool idea and the theme and set piece design is really immersive for an 8 bit game. Shame it's hard as balls.
I have a soft spot for 8 Eyes. It has a decent well integrated music score, complete couch coop play where you are not both the same palette swapped person like Rush N Attack and it has good platform elements with bosses. It probably inspired a lot of good games we see now indirectly.
Geez, the soundtracks to this game were so beautifully somber. There are HD remakes of the whole soundtrack. I never played this game two player. If I remember the other player played as his avian partner.
NES-era Nintendo: No. You cannot have religious references in your games. Also Nintendo: Imma gonna pretend I didn't see those floating crosses everywhere.
1990 was a bit late in the life cycle and you couldn't count on Nintendo of America specifically (who mandated said policy) to check every single game. Also, I've only heard about references to Christianity or really sour points in 20th century history that were altered for the sake of appeasing Nintendo of America or said audience, but never heard of censorship regarding other religions, assuming any NES game alluded to them.
@@PsychicPsychToad Yeah, talking NES censorship would be pretty fun at parties, especially when it comes to reminiscing about things like "cafes" and "coffee".
Haven’t seen the spot yet, but I distinctly recall a tall- mummy like boss that I killed with Cutris from all the way in the right hand side of the boss room, using the 2nd controller. Took forever. lol edit: 32:40, 100%. Looks nothing like I remember him. Playing with my brother was a ton of fun!
"So lets do our own version of Castlevania, but make everything needlessly unintuitive!" "You mean like Castlevania 2?" "Okay, maybe not *that* unintuitive..."
Props for doing all three cycles, I wouldn't dare. Game is decently hard as is, but making the enemies move faster? WHY THE HELL WOULD I WANT THAT!? But, it's a pretty decent game otherwise. I honestly didn't really care for the hit-and-run play style initially and the card-throwing boss can go sit on a pinecone. The music director went ham though. Why would you put a unique song for EVERY STAGE in just the first screen? That's a solid 7-8 tracks they didn't have to do, but did.
Ehhh lo hacés ver muy fácil. Recuerdo que los jefes me pateaban aún con la esfera blanca. Sin contar los niveles que si no seguías un patrón se hacía un bucle interminable. Gran video.
Looking up the game apparently Piko Interactive owns it now... And Thinking Rabbit's games are all owned by a company named Falcon Co. Ltd. Were the two owners not interested in keeping the IP?
It makes no sense to change the story from taking place in the 19th-century Balkans to taking place in a post-apocalyptic future, especially since the gothic look doesn't compliment the change at all.
I wouldn't want to live in a post-apocalyptic world, but if that were to happen, I'd be excited to have skeleton butlers serving me coffee.
Don't forget the ones that also serve delicious curry! 😉Happy Spooky Month! This is great!
What is up with these tea party scenes?
Is it meant to be some macabre symbolism to have tea with your slain opponent?
The things games make you say.

I used to play this game as a child. Good stuff.
About time!!!!! I was waiting for this one ☝️ 8 eyes!!!!👀
It's like Pac-Man ate all the ghosts and they couldn't find the way back to their box 👀 👀 👀 👀
Se parece al juego de Castlevania ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Saludos cordiales desde Tijuana México

And on Jason Voorhee's forehead lol. Did you notice his mask on the walls in the first level?
I'm still surprised they allowed Trevor to pray in front of the cross in _Castlevania III_ !
Lol you sound fun at parties! @@LPetal86

This always looked like a cool game. I just never got to play it.

Punctuation: The difference between 'Helping your Uncle Jack, off a horse' and going to prison.
Underrated nes game.
"So lets do our own version of Castlevania, but make everything needlessly unintuitive!"
"You mean like Castlevania 2?"
"Okay, maybe not *that* unintuitive..."
Castlevania 2 was great. Also most of what is "intuitive" is familiarity.
May have to give this a shot myself. Taking Castlevania's gameplay and mixing it with Megaman sounds interesting.
Nah, it's stiff as hell
The music when you are inside of the Spanish castle?
**mwah**

Thanks! It took awhile before I stopped getting my ass kicked on those bosses.
Sick

What fresh hell is this?
Amazing! This looks and sounds almost like it's 16-bit.
Legend of Kri on PS2 was supposed to be this in 3D

Wasn’t the one who published this game also made star soldier?
They didn't make Star Soldier, but they published it in North America.
Hi
💎💎💎 AF
🤔
Holy Diver next?
Orin and Crutuh? Please..I prefer the Japanese version...Sir Julian James Bond and his pet eagle..Cutlass.
Why not have the Germany boss throwing Manjis? 🤷♂️
That game is awful. LOL
