I remember when I first heard Death Cab. My first reaction was I didn't like it. But for some reason I kept coming back and listening to it, over and over again. I didn't know why. But I know realize It wasn't that I didn't like, it was that I was listening to something different, and my ears just weren't ready for it. They combine beautiful lyrics with beautiful music, a hard combination to find these days. Their music grows on you.
that's just odd, cause to me this is the best song they ever made. I must have played it 15 times back to back, this song had such a powerful effect on me.
One of their best songs IMO. Really hard to say their best song cause all their songs are amazing. The lyrics in this song are amazing and Chris Walla is fuckin siiiiiick!!! DCFC!!!!!
There's a tear in the fabric of your favorite dress And I'm sneaking glances. Looking for the patterns in static They start to make sense the longer I'm at it. Ivory lines lead Your heart is a river that flows from your chest Through every organ Your brain is the dam And I am the fish who can't reach the core. Ivory lines lead Oh, instincts are misleading You shouldn't think what you're feeling They don't tell you what you know you should want. One thing that I'm surprised about is, I used to live IN Seattle, and NOBODY that I knew had heard of them. I live in Malibu now, and still, I've grown up listening to this beautiful band and I really wish someone else could relate to me that I knew.
Haha the whole band is amazing. The drummer, needless to say, is astounding. The bassist is always playing something original and interesting, Chris Walla... Well look what he's playing right there. :P Ben Gibbard.. yeah. Needs no explanation.
our instincts are misleading, you shouldn't think what your feeling. Probably some of the best lyrics ever. Shame the song is not quite as epic. Still a belter never the less!!!
@KeziaMyDarlingPTH some type of archtop with a trapeze tailpiece. at 2:12 - 2:14 it kinda looks like it starts with an H or A, so i am guessing an old Harmony Archtop.
Ben's looks like a Takamine. Chris's guitar, I have no idea, looks like it starts with an A, but never seen an Alvarez like that. I really want to know too, it sounds great.
dear ZOMG i do think they changed a bit but i dont think you can blame it all on "fame" and such. You said your self that it was LONG time ago, so they could havechanged on there own, the same way a mainstream band that started mainstream ..could also change.
i don't really like the new album. i've been a death cab fan ever since i was in 5th grade. im a sophmore in highschool now and i've seen a significant change in death cab. more for the worse rather than the better. they used to be so chill and laid back. with lyrics that took my breath away. but now with all this so-called "fame", the venues have gotten bigger, the money is rolling in, and its just not the same death cab i used to love so much..

I love you
Chris Walla is amazing as well. I think people often look him over, but he's really really fantastic.
They are just poets with rythm. His words are like they're speaking to my soul.
Way better than the album version. This version of the song is just so much lighter, and easier to listen to and follow.
"and looking for the patterns in static, they start to make sense the longer I'm at it"
Best line
this version....unbelievable !!
This song is perfect.

I love his little "thank you" at the end.

song's kinda pervy but he made so damn sweet and mellow it's beautiful now sheesh
Yeah I guess I like them both equally. This is one of my favorite DCFC songs.
For sure I totally agree with you. I'm trying to go to the concert tomorrow night in SD but tickets are hard to find.
Such a great song sung by very talented artists (Ben and the gang). Lyrics = impressive!
This might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
This is sooooo good!!

this song is amazing.
I was the same way at first, cause the quite and slow beginning but after awhile it grows on you hah
i think that this version is WAY better than the recorded one
perfection
Beautiful voice
oh my god it's my favorite and it's my literally my age :)
i love their music
awe-inspiring
beautiful.
they sound amazing live.
Man, I don't care if he grew an afro and started dressing like a crazy old homeless man. I just love his music.
I feel like this would be such a difficult song to translate to an acoustic duo like this, but it's almost better in it's simplicity.
Excelente!!!!
there amazing live. LIKE SO AMAZING!
Perfect voice, Benjamin
awh.amazing.
I really like this version :)
B-e-a-utiful! :)
Ivory lines lead oh ah ho....I love this song so much
Beautiful song, I especially like Ben's Larry King mugshot shirt lmao

this version sounds much more intamate than the album version
achaaa
Chris Walla is fuckin sick!
lol he is the lead singer from postal service
if you haven't found it already send me a message. i've got the mp3.
Tough to say I like both.
Chris looks like Johnny Depp in this video from some angles lol
but which version do you think is better, like them both equally?
do you know what type of guitar that chris is using? and mybe even bens?
like
do they record on one track or do they record in different layers
Was just gonna say the same thing lol
i love this song, but i have to say i like the album version better than the auscustic only because i like the swing in the backround. ahahaha
Claudia Ella Its like Postal Services This Place is a Prison when the drums come in it wakes your soul. Beautiful job though.
chris fucking walla with that fucking rythm guitar fuck my shit up fam
hey does anyone know what this is from?
honestly i like this live recording better than the original... the original used too many instruments.
is this in 6/8 meter?
Does he have a Tim and Eric shirt on? It looks like them.
is Ben using a Takamine? I didn't think anyone used that guitar but me
i would fucking love an mp3 of this
He looks like Raain Wilson from Sahara
Talk to me Ben
tabs?
the guitar kind of sounds like something from william fitzsimmons.
@nino0057 yeah we know.
4 people are cavemen
