The novelization was so much better and Michael had way more kills. They gave Paul Brad Logan a writing credit on the film, I just wish they had used more of his ideas.
Dare I say it, but the movies *did* introduce the idea that Michael’s evil could be transferred: Halloween 2018 - Dr. Sartain’s obsession with Michael and unleashing him on the town. Halloween Kills - The town itself becomes the evil; culminating in the death of an innocent, mentally ill hospital patient. Halloween Ends - Corey becomes infected by the town, not Michael. This then culminates in Laurie becoming the final “evil.” As supported by a deleted scene in which she attempts to murder Alyson. DGG just didn’t do a good job of setting it all up IMO.
Michael did kill Corey tho 👀 broke his neck. Although Corey was already bleeding out, so I guess we can credit it as a half kill 😅 But yah I gotta read that novel. Its a shame we don’t have an extended cut to flesh out some of these ideas. Also thanks for the shout out king 👑
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorror Big agree. I was expecting him to at least do a curb stomp like he did to Sartain (the last person to steal his mask and wear it). I was like “Aw man” when it was just a neck snap.
@@KillJoyJakeLovesHorrorIf I was to reshoot Halloween Ends (which I hope Halloween Ends does get a reshoot), I would go by the novelization except for a few changes. For example: Sondra doesn't survive in Halloween Kills. I would add the whole Evil Eyes soundtrack during the sewer scene with Michael and Corey, add all the deleted scenes into the movie, add the missing scenes that were spotted in the trailer, add more stalking for Michael Myers, and I would remove the plot armor they gave Laurie so Michael can win. Corey doesn't steal Michael's mask because it disrespects Michael's legacy. Instead, he uses his own scarecrow mask and the same coveralls he wore during his killing spree. Corey lures the bullies to the junkyard and later kills them. At the radio station, Corey kills Susan by pinning her to the wall with a wrecking bar. Michael suddenly arrives and finds Willy the Kid in his room while Corey watches. Michael attacks Willy as he goes through the radio yelling out "HE'S IN THE STATION! MICHAEL MYERS IS IN THE STATION! HELP ME!!!". Michael then bashes his head and brutally stabs through his mouth. Elsewhere, Michael kills Corey's mother Joan and those trick or treaters who were bothering her like in the novel. Instead of Lindsey and Frank Hawkins finding Danny McBride outside the bar, Michael stalks them and as Lindsey looks around outside, Michael goes behind her and kills her and before Frank finds her dead with Michael above her. Just like Laurie, Michael also recognizes Frank Hawkins from 1978 and 2018. Just like Dr. Loomis in Halloween 4, Frank pulls out his gun and shoots at him, but Michael has teleported away. Elsewhere, Corey kills Jeremy's mother Theresa Allen for lashing out at him at the bar for killing her son on "purpose". Later, Michael goes to the memorial garden where his demolished house once stood and stalks 7th graders who are dressed up as him. Michael stares at them where his sister's bedroom once stood. After he vanished, the cops showed up as the 7th graders tells them that they saw Michael Myers but didn't believe them. Later, Corey enters Laurie's home and goes to the kitchen and grabs a knife. As he finds Laurie upstairs, he charges at her and he gets shot in both shoulders by Laurie and falls down the stairs. As Laurie approaches Corey, she looks at his scarecrow mask and asks him "Nice mask. Where did you get it?". They both hear Allyson's car approaching the house, Corey attacks Laurie as they begin to have a showdown. Allyson walks and sees Laurie and Corey fighting and wonders what's going on. They both look at her as Laurie tells Allyson that Corey isn't who she thinks he is. Corey is like "Allyson, don't listen to her! I told you she wants to kill me!". As she struggles between her grandmother and her boyfriend trying to convince her, she exits the house after saying "You're both crazy...". Corey grows upset at Laurie saying "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!", they continue to fight. Laurie stabs Corey in the neck on accident after Corey charges at her again, but doesn't pull out the knife. Later, Michael enters the house and approaches Corey, reaching down for the knife. Corey wakes up and grabs his arm, thinking it's Laurie grabbing the knife. It would seem that Corey Cunningham has mistakenly betrayed Michael Myers on accident. As Michael grows tired of Corey, he lets go of the knife and gives him the Sartain treatment by stomping on his head, crushing it. After Corey's death, the final showdown between Michael and Laurie is longer than 5 minutes and it's not just in the kitchen. Later, back in the kitchen, Laurie pins Michael's left hand on the table and stabs him in the chest. Michael sits up, pulls the knife out of his left hand on the table and stabs Laurie in the neck brutally, killing her. After Michael leaves the house with all of his full strength restored, Allyson, Frank, and the cops arrive at the house seeing both Laurie Strode and Corey Cunningham dead thanks to Michael. And before the credits roll, Michael's breathing is heard, meaning evil will never truly die.
Well, In a way they KIND OF set up his evil eyes and the evil transfer. Dr.Loomis always talked about his eyes since the beginning, and in 2018 I’m pretty sure Sartain said something about how he looked into his eyes as well, and he turned crazy! Maybe it wasn’t intentional, but I think it works out. But yeah, Halloween ends is the definition of “I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed”
Great Video Jake!! I think The Novelization from what you’ve read so far is good, I just don’t know if it’s actually considered canon, because some say it is, and some say it isn’t, so idk, but either way the Novelization is pretty good 👍

I haven’t seen anyone else talking about the novel. It is like actually really good. And the end was super fucking creepy with Laurie. It was better than the movie imo which I also loved
Halloween Ends is a terrible film that admittedly has a very cool and intriguing opening scene and at times some great visual Cinematography but the screenplay is so bad and silly, i can't even enjoy it on a superficial fun shallow level like Halloween Kills.
I love Ends. People just don't understand what the writers/directors were going for and the infection that evil can be. Thought it was the perfect ending.
I totally agree with you. I think the marketing set us up to expect something that they knew we weren’t going to get. The movie definitely got better after rewatched
I just love the cynical nature it had towards Michael Myers fans too. Kinda seems on par with what John carpenter probably would’ve wanted. Which was to never make a sequel after 78’. Most Halloween fans don’t see the bigger picture DGG has set out with the trilogy and I think that’s the greatest thing about it.
I understand everything in this movie but I still don't like everything that the writers were going for. This "you don't get it" excuse is just a ridiculous way to defend a movie. At least be respectful when you talk about how much you like Ends. There's no need to call others stupid to prove your point that Ends is a good movie.
@@darkninja2772 Then you don't understand narrative. Go rewatch '78 and then '18 and Kills again. Read between the lines and understand the structure of each movie and Michael's place.
After reading the novelization, I still think it was a lazy underdeveloped story lol. One of, if not THE, biggest missed opportunities in horror history.
@@dench2695 Not at all lol. You can like the movie, that’s fine. But there’s no denying the writing is bad and completely incoherent. Not to mention inconsistent with what the other 2 movies set up. Because of that, it’s a massive missed opportunity to be something better. Some people liked watching an adult man get bullied by high school kids while falling in love. Some of us wanted a Halloween film.

Well, true. He did snap his neck. Although, the goriest death for Corey should've been between Cameron and Dr. Sartain's death.
I just bought the movie today and am gonna give it a 3rd view, I want to listen to the novelization just don't know if I want to pay for it lol
The reason the film Halloween Ends is terrible is because an evil worse than what infected Michael overtook it: toxic feminism and wokeness xD
