The book you mentioned was later debunked as they were both school teachers and had both dreamed of being writers...well they did it!!! Marie-Antoinette and Louis were kept inside Paris as of October 1789, 3 months after Bastille Day. First they were in the Tuileries Palace which was burned during the riots in 1870 and after their failed attempt to escape France they were kept in the Temple Castle, which no longer exists, there is a park there now...The Palace was looted and desecrated by the French, that is why you'll see some of the statues and many of the busts outside the Palace on the facade overlooking the gardens have missing faces..hacked at with people hating the monarchy that bad, they even killed their little dogs..the Phalene. Marie Antoinette had her papillon which is a mix of the Phalene and the chihuahua....

I visited Verseilles in 2007 and I assure you that there are ghosts in that place. I felt really bad in Marie Antoniette's room, I felt cold, I had the feeling of extreme sadness, fear and a lot of anger. I heard voices, sounds of metal banging, things breaking and footsteps. And yet, I was alone, on a stairway near the queen's room. I dragged myself to one of the gardens, where there was a fountain and this garden was dead; the air is heavy, there are no animals like birds, butterflies, nothing. Only this heavy silence. It is oppressive and that experience scared me to death. I'll never be in this place again.

We must've had a very different experience. I went as of 2024 a month ago during summer and there were birds, flowers blossoming, and such life in the gardens. It was absolutely stunning. Though I have to agree with you, the queens room felt rather different to the rest of the palace. It was a summer day, and it felt very hot but I still felt an eiree presence of sadness.

There’s sooooo many people who lives in Versailles for many many years. It was even open to the public. It was busy. So any sighting doesn’t mean it’s Marie Antoinette already. It could have been anyone back in the day who live there. The nobles / courtiers pretty much all look the same and dressed lavishly.

What Marie Antoinette did say, as she climbed up on the scaffolding and accidentally stepped on her executioner's foot, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do it!" Such nobility, indeed!!

Dude you beat me to one of my Dream Places to go! lol I love Marie Antoinette ,I felt so bad for her. She was expected to do so much for France ,and was blamed a lot for it's down fall . Even though she loved to spend on lavish clothes ,and jewels , for herself ,and her friends ,she did not hate her people ,she actually in the beginning of her reign helped unfortunate women find places to stay ,instead of being on the street ,and she also helped poor children find homes ,and some even stayed at Versailles until homes were find for them. She loved children, Now if that is a cold heartless woman Then I must be missing something lol. And she never said Let them eat cake! another french Queen before Marie came to France said the infamous line.

She also knew her people were starving and continued to spend lavishly. She supported crushing the revolution even if it meant murdering citizens opposing the monarchy. She’s not an evil monster but she also wasn’t heroic and innocent. People like to paint a black and white portrait either way. There are sympathetic things about Marie Antoinette, but there is a morbid and concerning mindset behind the fact that people are more sympathetic towards her than sparing even a thought about the people who were starved and oppressed by the wealthy nobility. There is a very obvious reason why the nobility is victimized and the oppressed painted as savages-and that is because we still live in a society where there are the oppressors and the oppressed.

Marie's fate really was so tragic. She was far too young to be given the power she had, and even though she clearly wanted what was best for the people ended up just being someone they could take their anger out on when the real issue was that the wealthy refused to pay taxes like the poor did.

The truly creepy part of this video is where you point out the disparity between the poor of France and the elite/royals. The fact that certain individuals of our race could be that inhumane is certainly cause enough for them to become a ghost. The story about the peasant women seeing Marie Antoinette sketching also got my attention, especially where you described them seeing parts of the grounds that don't exist anymore. That seems like confirmation. Thanks Amy, great job.

New Atlantean de Tocqueiville, the historian who wrote the history of the causes of The French Revolution about 60 years after the Revolution recorded the level of the living standard of of the French people was about equal to that of Liverpool and Lancashire in England at the time. It is recorded by Antonia Fraser who wrote a biography of Marie Antoinette that she formed a charitable group that used to go into the streets of Paris and aid people, children who were - yes - starving. She was frivolous and extravagant when she was young but she made a decision at an age when after teenage years when most of us do - and changed her ways and tried. That she did this is not recognized as it does not accord with the image wanted of her by people who may face the wrong that was done to her if, today, they concede anything to her. For facts proving what I say, Antonia Fraser outlines them, and they portray a more accurate portrayal of this woman than people find it within themselves convenient to do. She never said let them eat cake. This was said by the mistress of the king in the previous reign and was a reference to sweetbread which was cheaper and therefore cheaper to supply. She was framed-said to be a pervert when it was not true, she was framed in The Diamond Necklace Case - the transcripts available today to read- she rejected the necklace-Her reason? It was extravagant.

In that part of the world, you live with spirits and energies that have not moved on. My American lawyer trained, military trained, father would disagree with all of this but I always believed in the stories my cousins would tell me. So, it's not a stretch to believe that beings that have met tragic, sudden, awful deaths are unable to resolve their sudden demise and come to terms with it. It's just awful to wander aimlessly in the afterlife among the living. Quel homage ma reine!

Yeah there was a room downstairs that had original furniture and paintings so they purposely had the lights down really low so as not to deteriorate the items any further. I came to one painting of Marie Antoinette as a young girl. I just out of nowhere started feeling really creepy and my hair stood on end . I noticed suddenly that I was now the only person in there and I just had this overwhelming feeling that I needed to leave. It wasn’t threatening just really spooky. The rest of the palace I didn’t feel anything. Just that room with original furniture. Strange.

France did use Queen Antoinette. She was young and unlearned and subjected to a royal house that was wicked. Her life touched me. Sad at the top sometimes. She did not deserve to die the way she did. The French were at times historically mean and merciless.

Kathleen Fraser The King and Queen have been restored now in France. Louis XV1th was wronged in history - and so was Antoinette ( as her friends called her - and she did have friends! ). He applied himself, and did try to redeem what his predecessor, the real culprit, had done ( or not done ). Even most of Louis XV1th's detractors said he was a decent man. He was no tyrant and Marie Antoinette was framed day to day, ritually smeared year after year in the second part of her reign. Before that she was the most popular Queen with the people, in Europe, France included. The behaviour of her haters is a pinnacle example of the depths human beings can sink to when they hate. She was extravagant when young, but she changed. She made a decision to. The transcript of The Diamond Necklace Case reveals she specifically rejected the necklace saying it was an extravagance she refused to have anything to do with. Few have met their death so brave - something her haters found themselves compelled to concede in spite of themselves. Her story is a story of a shocking miscarriage of justice.

And are those paintings even originals? It could get stolen so easily if they are since I didn’t see them being secured at all. Whoever wrote the Legend of Zorro was said to have been inspired by him, and Batman was inspired by Zorro. Best film, hands down, is the 1934 version with Leslie Howard. The Pimpernel is a rich Englishman who disguises himself and saves rich French people from the guillotine. Basically an aristo* writes a novel about an aristo who saves other aristos from the angry poor, lol.
