the 28/2 is a lovely lens with somewhat of a bad wrap thanks to pixel peepers and specubators. Fortunately, that means it is relatively cheap and easy to acquire on the second hand market for those of us that care more about making images than about clinical sharpness. i'm glad to see that you're enjoying it.
Awesome review. I own the xt4 and I’m highly considering the wider focal length. The 16 2.8m didn’t wow me and I’d consider the 18 f2 especially for the price. After watching the video I’d still like to see the quality between the new 18 f1.8. Cheers
I use the 18 2 and 35 1.4 as my walk around combo on an X-Pro3. Either lens can fit in a pocket when it’s off the camera. I use the 18’s lens hood for both, which makes them even smaller. They’re two of the most beautiful lenses in the X system. Couldn’t be happier. I’ve been curious about using them for video with BBF on an X-T4....
@@andrepel Unless I'm missing something, you mean Manual+BBF for prior to hitting the record button? The only way I've found BBF to work during recording is through 'S' mode. But then you lose the ability to use peaking and turn the focus wheel as you would in 'M' mode.
Great video. I love the 18mm F2 in every respect except the noise of the focus mechanism. Once you're used to it, it's ok. But I've never heard a lens make so much noise! I did a very unscientific video test using this lens on an X-T20 and it sounded as if there was a lot of hunting. When I reviewed the footage (vlog) the camera had actually held focus really well so I think what I could hear were just micro adjustments being made to hold focus..... Old and noisy the 18mm may be, but it's still one of my favourites.
Love your content and it inspired me to buy a xt4! When I’m filming with say shutter priority or aperture priority the auto exposure changes are really sharp and jump sharply. Do you have any tips? It seems to only go away if you put it to full manual for video. I mainly shoot run and gun clips and I’m conscious that I’ll miss moments when trying to dial in full manual settings all the time.
hmm, personally i leave everything on manual and switch what i need to. Not sure how it works since I never use auto exposure haha. If you're doing run and gun for video however, I'd recommend keeping everything to a preferred setting (ss and aperture is locked, iso lowest preferably) and use a variable nd filter as your "auto exposure". Then you only have to worry about turning that filter or one other dial to control your exposure. That's what I personally prefer to do, hope it helps!
size is great! yes autofocus takes a bit of patience but once you're used to it, its not too bad. i find that i'm not too hindered by the af although your preference may differ :)

agreed! cheaper lens for us :)

I think you just sold me an XF 18mm f2 !
Another enjoyable video to watch, whilst having a coffee!
love it! i have me a cup every morning :)
@@andrepel I use to have 16 mugs a day, now I’m down to 6!
Lovely review ! Glad to meet another fuji user! 🤩😍
thank you!

thats awesome, you have a solid setup right there! i'd experiment for video, there's a lot of potential there

IMO…an excellent value-for-money combo👍
Thanks for the review! That volleyball set up was magic
haha thank you!
Great video!!
Do you think it has a lot of focus breathing??more than the 18-55??
Cool for walkaround (w/ X-T3)! Like it for the „imperfectness“/character compared to 23/f2.
agreed! probably more ideal with the xt3 if you're walking around for just photos :)

I tested 18mm F2 at camera shop n I found that it bit noisy, like hunting for focus..what do u think..? But i love the size n lens hood.

The xf18mm F2 also works great on the XT3 for stills, the lack of OIS on the XT3 and AF noise make it not so great for video though.
yep, a solid combo!
what uv filter do you use?
breakthrough photography's uv filter :)
18mm f2 is far from sharp… love the size only..
have the 35mm 1.4 is good enough
Bought a 18mm f1.4 as well , expecting
Why do you spent so much time in front of the camera in stead to show what you are talking about?
