    I started playing Madden so naturally I took an interest in the actual NFL. Coming from Australia, I was never exposed to NFL so I have a lot of catching up to do in terms of understanding the game and how it's played. All of your videos are so spot on man, they provide me with the perfect understanding of the plays you show and why the players do what they do. Keep up the great work man.

    This is like a master class for me in understanding the game better. As a game designer I geek out on this stuff! Keep up the great work man. Can't wait for more.

      Do you design football games? I've always wondered why madden doesn't just turn concepts like blocking rules and pass protections, etc into algorithms and make realistic assignments for players on each play.

    • @DavidWKimber
      @DavidWKimber 8 лет назад +2

      I don't design football games, no. EA has had that area pretty much locked up in perpetuity since the NFL and Madden license is primarily what sells the games.
      That said, I wouldn't be surprised if their AI did give players some historical context for why they make the plays they do (i.e. what a player is most likely to do in any given situation), but the insanity that ensues when the ball is hiked is probably an AI programmers dream/nightmare. Rules are easy to code in, but to make it 'realistic' you have to factor in all that chaos and the thousands of variations that are possible. And that's not even considering broken plays either.
      Maybe it's time we get some MIT guys on this...

    Nail on the head. Steelers fan here, but you're right that Sherman definitely got the best of Brown in this particular matchup. Your in-depth looks at plays where Brown WASN'T targeted drive this point home

    It's funny when I play madden i study what certain defenses defend and what weaknesses it has. No better feeling then knowing your opponent is mad because they can't move the ball or score on you for that matter. Great vid the way you broke everything down, very entertaining.

    Actually, the end result of a pick on a two point conversion could be a two point defensive conversion if Sherman had ran it back to his own end zone. This is a rule they added last year. So technically, when you say the end result would be the same if he took a sack that would be incorrect. Just wanted to point that out. Nice breakdown though, I often struggle to find fans who are as into the game as I am :D

    Sherman gave AB no space. He even said himself. He said other dbs gave him space n thats why he dominated. sherman studied film n did what he did against AB

    • @carterrrrrr
      @carterrrrrr 8 лет назад

      na that's not true, in those 1 on 1's Earl and Chancellor were in zone coverage on the other side of the field. That's why the commentator was saying Sherm was covering Brown in most of the 1 on 1's meaning no help from the deep safeties.

    I say that pass wasn't a pass interference. There was little to nothing there and if you say its Shermans fault they can say it was Browns fault.

    • @abrahamnovelo3413
      @abrahamnovelo3413 8 лет назад +10

      If it was PI on Sherman then you have to call PI on AB too, since he initiated the contact.

      Abraham Novelo That's my point, they would just even out.

    • @soldseperately
      @soldseperately 8 лет назад +9

      Well that and if you look at it in slow motion, there's no indication of a shove. Unless Sherman is A LOT stronger than he looks.
      And if Sherman really did push Brown, I'm sure Brown would have been flailing about complaining to the refs. The fact that there was no reaction nor was he looking for a flag kinda goes to show that Sherman didnt push anyone.

    • @RikerRocketMan
      @RikerRocketMan 8 лет назад +4

      There are better videos of the play showing one of AB's legs getting caught behind the other which looked like the main reason he fell (tripped).

    Everytime a WR pushes off everyone applauds him like "he used a perfectly subtle push off to gain separation" but when a defender pushes back at all everyone screams for PI. Antonio Brown is literally the king of the subtle push offs, I have no dog in this fight as a Texans fan but I don't think that was a PI on Sherman when Brown lost balance. They were in a hand battle that never ended and Brown lost his balance in the middle of it. Sherman didn't let Brown push him around with his push offs, he did good.

    2:35 perfect pass beats perfect coverage, you see? The only reason brown didn't catch this was because of a perfectly timed hit....
    ....
    ...
    from the coverage?

    Do you think Pitt's obsession with hitting Brown vertical helped Sherman be more productive in the game? With Sherman's length and adequate speed it's very hard to beat him vertically. Why would Pitt not try harder to hit Brown on short/intermediate routes on the inside? Use Brown's "quicks" to their advantage.

    The problem is brown played to shermans strength Brown can't run Deep on Sherman because if how long Sherman's legs are in stride brown would literally have to haul ass the whole route to win the battle. That's why the underneath routes were so successful ultimately that's how you beat the Seahawks by going across the middle or short. If you notice Sherman can't really d big fast wide outs such as Julio jones

    • @mjc4297
      @mjc4297 7 лет назад +1

      Majid Houston Julio Jones is nearly impossible to cover one on one for anybody. He's the best WR in the league for a reason. The dude is a physical specimen

    • @majidhouston6030
      @majidhouston6030 7 лет назад +2

      Matthew Chacon truth which plays to my point I stated Sherman can't handle those type of receivers he tends to lock down people who are smaller or not extremely fast

    • @mjc4297
      @mjc4297 7 лет назад +2

      Majid Houston No he can lock down tall receivers like Dez and Brandon Marshall all day. Look at his stats against them. Julio is not only tall, but extremely fast as well, which almost isn't fair to any CB. But in their last matchup, Julio only caught 1 pass on 6 targets against Sherman, albeit it was a TD, but 1 out of 6 is still really good for Sherman.

    • @majidhouston6030
      @majidhouston6030 7 лет назад +1

      One Brandon Marshall is washed and 2 it's been forever since dez and Sherman played each other we'll see this year though

    • @damonsanders6526
      @damonsanders6526 6 лет назад

      Majid Houston we just beat the cowboys in dallas on xmas eve 21-12 the cold thing is russell Wilson was 14-21 for 93 yards we had no 100 yard rusher, no cliff avril, kam chancellor, or richard sherman but what we did have was 3 interceptions 1 for a pick 6 and a fumble recovery oh and knocked the cowboys out of playoff contention now all we have to do is beat the cardinals at home and hope the Panthers beat the falcons in Atlanta and we'll get the last wildcard slot in the nfc, oh and they had a well rested Ezekiel Elliott who came off of his 6 game suspension, thAts saying something, i watch it every other week im a supervisor at century link field...

  • @couldbe8348
    @couldbe8348 7 лет назад +1

    Football is not so complex. You run some different routes and the talent takes over.

  • @brettangel3300
    @brettangel3300 7 лет назад

    The second pass is not a timed hitch route! Its a BACK SHOULDER! The WR is running to the end zone if he is open we throw the bom, if the DB is over the top of the route the QB throws the ball to the WR "Back Shoulder" of the WR. You can't cover it, but its hard to complete because the WR must have good hips to open up to the ball and catch it plus it's all timing. The QB and WR must have great timing and chemistry to complete this pass.

      Did you watch the video? Brown had 1 catch for like 9 yards off of him. Sherman spent at least 90 percent of his snaps covering Brown. He has the lowest passer rating against of any corner since 2012. He's more than just a zone guy. He shuts down whomever he is covering. He only allowed like 170 total yards one year. That's a record.

    Julio Jones would smash Sherman

    • @daytradernupe
      @daytradernupe 8 лет назад

      In their one matchup Julio only caught one pass in 6 targets verses Julio. It was a td pass but, 1 out 6 is damn good defense considering how insanely athletic Julio is.

    "when people say a perfect pass beats perfect defense, this is what theyre talkin about".... proceeds to throw into double coverage against sherman and earl thomas, two of the best dbs in the league, on a free play. Yup... perfect pass hahaha

    • @TheyWrechedTheWrech
      @TheyWrechedTheWrech 7 лет назад +1

      Bajawoosh how could it not exactly be double coverage with thomas was running late, yet he didnt catch it because thomas hit him on time? sherman played ball coverage and thomas played the hit. two people.... double coverage

    • @TheyWrechedTheWrech
      @TheyWrechedTheWrech 7 лет назад

      Bajawoosh throwing a toss up on a free play doesnt constitute a perfect throw. if anything brown makes it look perfect because he has enough speed to catch up to a sideline lob over double coverage

      Yurhen Itd-iot Yurhen Itd-iot That wasn't double coverage. That was single coverage with help over the top. Just because 2 defenders were in the area of the place where the ball landed doesn't make it double coverage. And you're right. That doesn't make it a perfect throw but the ball placement and timing does

    ill never forget shermans face when Malcolm butler. destroyed his dream of a second ring Karma loves to target the loud an arrogant. He must have been feeling good after the seahawks made an extremely lucky catch and had 4 tries from the one. hey Richard Tom brady was wondering " you mad bro"? hahahaha

    AB is overrated without help and lots of it he wasn't the same player he was. He is an excellent player but only about the 5th best wr maybe 6th because he can't carry an offense like the other #1 wrs..this game is sinlge.high looks all game and he struggled a lot with Sherman in one on one coverage with safety help but only a single.high dB look makes it that the safety can't get there if Brown can create separation earlier (on the go.route he dropped when Thomas hit him) the window would have been large..Julio Green Beckham would have and I know.odell has in the one game he played them beat Sherman and the safety on that play would have been to if Sherman doesn't make tackle..He lacks the elite speed for little.guy to be as good as.people think...Excellent player great work.ethic will.have great numbers when he's Done.but they will.come down eventually and if he leaves steelers way down or if Ben retires cuz idc if his stats have been similar when Ben goes down its a small sample and Bens ability to extend plays makes a player like Brown with his short are quickness hard to cover for long time...Just think people get blown away by stats and these pff.stats which are sht..Think about.it u don't know what coverage was on how.many players were on one guy.or what a DBs job is and if he made.mistake or not unless your the coach because different things happen and defenses are so complicated that telling me the % of targets a guy catches is irrelevant to a degree if like.Hopkins 2 years ago is only weapon with bad qbs..How much is qb play percentage of offense which Beckham blows every wr away, or quality of talent around them offensive line play come into grading a wr? none is the answer and that sht puts.guys with high percentage targets and less.yac and broken tackles and yards than player graded lower...Brown is.very good not great.not hall of famer..not close
