they went through so much. Pretty much all of them have PTSD if they aren't dead. That's why it was so comforting to see the juniors from the storyline in the present being allowed to grow up normally, protected and with so much less trauma
oh gosh this is FANTASTIC! there's so much to love here: lots of insight into all the characters, the absolutely perfect buildup of tension from "line up the dominoes" to the huaisang!anticlimax of the bridge, heartbreaking use of yanli/ & wen qing moments, and tons of other nice little details. i think my favorite is the unbearable tension of the 'drip drip drip' scenes. i love this -- thanks so much!!
Putting those two together was a stroke of genius. Almost made me cry. I was trying to decide who fits the song best, but same as you, I came up short.

as an eldest daughter, all the moments with Yanli and Wen Qing especially hit hard 😭 this was Perfect
