Flay has lost her way in the last year with this new generic bombastic rock aesthetic. Saw her in Toronto last year and it was terrible. Drums drown out everything with a kit that would be the envy of any prog rock band. She was much better as a quasi hip ,pop artist with subtleties in programming/arrangements, lyrics and vocals that made her truly unique. Best songs from earlier in her career: Hail Mary, Make Me Fade, Less Than Zero, Acetaminophen, They Got A Hold, Can't Sleep, Suburban Rap Queen, So Fast, So Maybe, Less Than Zero, I Rap Nice, Carry On, The Cops, Single and Famous, Is Anybody Listening, Carry On, heavy CROSS OUT, Stop, Focus, Everyone I Know. This new rock sound comes off forced and fake. Too bad. Once a great artist breaking new ground. Now a 'don't bother' if she comes into your town. But download all this early music.
I dunno, this is my least favorite song from the Crush Me EP. The rest are great.
It's such a shame you dislike her new music, because i think all her new music is fucking fantastic. Not to mention she's catering to a bigger audience now and shes become much much more popular than she used to be with her new music. But I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
