I didn't realize Jack fruit gets fruit 3+ years from seed, that's great. I'm trying to plant as many quick fruiting plants and trees I can. I'm a little dryer than you so I have a hard time getting things going but once they do they take off. I'm hoping within the next 6 months I can provide 75% of my food from the land. Your videos are very inspiring!
Yummy! I hope my seed grown varieties will be good when they finally begin to produce. I love toasting the seeds with sea salt and garlic oil or Hawaiian chili oil.
Great Video! Do one on the Rollinia. I have no idea what Rollinia tastes like. By the way the video you did years ago where you climbed Mauna Loa was super cool.
We are at about 1500’ in Puna. We have a 2 year old tree planted with black cinder/soil mix on top of rocky grass……it has shot up like a rocket and I topped it last February. In your opinion, do you think I have a good chance of getting fruit up here….We also have two Ulu planted same way…not sure variety but they are same age….hoping for fruit🤙
I can highly recommend to look for some indian recipes for unripe jackfruit and/or jf-seed dishes. Yes, the latex is a little bit annoying, but the taste is SO worth it. 🤤
Most Asian countries use jackfruit as a curry/vegatable dish . It is harvested before it becomes sweet , it is much like a tender meat absolute delicious
Only now just subscribed and love your guys new videos. Amazing to see what you guys have done and achieved as im only now just starting working on my land. Can’t wait for future videos 😊
Great video. I put my jack fruit in the refrigerator overnight before processing. It seems to reduce the latex by at least 75%. Not everyone will have that much fridge space . It sure makes processing it less messy.
Hi, I was watching your video about having mold in your shipping container home after hurricane Lane. I was wondering if you are still in your container home? Are you still battling a mold problem? Have you tried using vinegar on the mold. My experience from living in Florida is to use vinegar full strength, but my wife thinks you should dilute it. Anyway, looking forward to your next video, cheers.
Aloha, we still live in the shipping container. Cleaning with diluted vinegar really helps to wipe surfaces. The mold hasn’t been a big issue since we started using more fans and exhaust fans through out the day and mopping the floors more regularly.
I would love to buy some from you....I believe I might be close to you all. I've watched your videos before we moved here. I've no been able to get a fully ripe one yet. I've cooked a green one and made the pulled pork with a green jackfruit. What a mess that was, but I did cover everything with plastic and used pam spray and worked ok.
If your knives get really gummed up, and if you have a gaz stove, you only need to hold the blade over the flame for a few seconds and then wipe it clean. Voilà.
@@OffGridHawaii Wesley farms is a BJ's brand. They do have some organic items like the Coconut oil and Maple syrup. Some items are hard to get once you're on the islands. I've bought organic Spiralina, Cocoa and Maca at Ross.
I used to watch your channel- then RUclips removed you from my subscription list without my permission, and I forgot about your channel… i could have been watching for the last 3 years…
I dont know guys, but you do not look that OK. I hope you have not become vegan or something. Your channel I really loved because of funny nature for both of you. You guys in tropics you can easily raise sheep all year round. Just saying.

Thank you ! 🙏 🤙🏾
I have some small trees. Hoping to grow more in the future.

You’re enjoying the fruits of your hard work …. rightly so.
Your videos are very informative and enjoyable - thank you.
Yummy delicious jackfruit

Wow that’s a great tip! We will try that next time if we can make space in the fridge
I've done this too. Cooling it causes the sap to become a solid. Molecular science is fun
Gonna be visiting the big island soon, hope to see you guys, any particular markets you go to?
Cool! We don’t have a set schedule, just started with markets but if you follow us on Instagram we will mention where to find us.
Very interesting for sure. I hope to try one some day🌴🌴🤙🏻😁
Awesome vid - great tips on jackfruits.

Nice video!
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it 💗✨
i found that it takes a bit longer than 20min to boil the jackfruit seeds
Yeah sometimes it takes longer for the hard shell to pop off
Never tried before and not living close to you guys~ Wonder how it is taste like and never knew how sticky it is! I will try.
It is definitely worth trying 😋

My family and I live in the Volcano area, would our best bet on getting these and ulu be on the lower farmers markets?
Yum, we love jackfruit. Where can we buy some from you? We're in Puna.
Follow us on instagram to find out what markets we are going to be at. @offgridhi
Hello thx can you give names of big firm jackfruits, tree types?❤❤❤thx
Black gold and zman pink are the ones we have.
@@OffGridHawaii thx
Can you grow coconuts?
The flavor of Juicy Fruit gum!
That’s it!
I can Hear Coqui!!!

What variety jackfruit do you guys have?
Black gold, zman pink, and 3 seedlings
I like to boil the seeds and eat them.
Us too!
That sequence:
“Fart” “The butt” “Always make sure you have paper towels around”. Are we talking about the fruit? 😂
Jackfruit = food of the Gods 🤍
Wesley Coconut oil, is there a BJ's on the Big Island?
Nope I don’t even remember where this oil came from, probably Ross dress for less 🤙🏾😊

Do chickens eat raw jackfruit?
Our chickens don’t really eat it.

What’s wrong with us?
Only seen 2 vids, this and one from 6 years ago. Maybe it's, um, aging?
are you guys vegan ?
We both were but not now
@@OffGridHawaii Oh ok. I was worried.
Nice fart! I can’t believe no one laughed or acknowledged it!
Hahaha 😂 we didn’t notice any farts lol what’s the time stamp?
I don't like Jackfruit , so I won't grow it .
