King was born in 29 and died in 68 at age 39. Supposedly his autopsy showed his heart condition to be that of someone in their sixties, this attributed to the stress of decades long compaigning. Interestingly he would be 94 years old if he managed to survive this long. He would've been 79 when Obama became president and considering the age of some of the recent presidents it's possible IF he successfully ran and successfully was elected he could've been president from the early 2000s onwards. Weirdly 1929 seems like an age ago and when you look back 1929 seems 'ancient' but yet in the grand scheme of things it really wasn't that long ago. Incredible how so much can change in very little time.
@@I_AM_BAYTORI think the people who criticised McGruder for this episode harshly should apologise to him now. His critics completely missed the mark of what his message was about. Aaron McGruder wanted to satirise American society to reflect on how things could be better, and he completely succeeded. It was deliberately offensive and provocative… but McGruders passion of self-criticism of American society really shines through. I’m an Aussie and I love the show (this show transcends all cultures) 😂. It’s my 2nd favourite animation show
Im Brazilian and ive learned about MLK in school back in the 90s. A great man, and a servant of GOD. His portrayal in Boondocks was pretty much what he probably would react if he saw how things are nowadays... lol
The 9/11 part might be true if he was alive cuz MLK was a devout Christian and preached about nonviolence for his whole life. I know he would say something if he was alive but I doubt he would try to outrage every american towards it.
Personally I think one of the most underrated recurring jokes in this show is Grandad Freeman always having a chip on his shoulder and resentment about getting no credit during the civil rights era flashbacks 😂. He gets annoyed with Rosa Parks, also the other episode where he gets heckled for wearing a rain jacket… so I argue he has earned the right to feel a little frustrated lol. At times where he is the Good Samaritan he does get taken advantage of (his deadbeat cousins after Hurricane Katrina… he gets fed up 😂) God I love this show 👍
What the news said about MLK being a terrorist lover, is eerily similar to how people who even just say they want a cease fire in Gaza, being smeared the same way.
Liked, subscribed and commenting. I'm watching my man stage left, (right on screen) react and contrasting it with the young blood. I could watch y'all go thru all The Boondocks.
I have to admit… when I watched this episode the first time, I was extremely uncomfortable… I was so angry with Uncle Ruckus heckling this amazing man… but when you realise what McGruder is doing, it is absolutely genius He is trespassing taboos into a world into a statement of “if MLK were alive today… how would he react at the state of modern black American organisations?”. This episode is a masterpiece. Also i have so much respect that McGruder was willing to tackle such controversial subject matter with balls… 👍. The backlash that he received over it made absolutely no sense because it was done with the best intentions
What backlash? lol I think you're projecting, because you end your comment by saying you can't understand the backlash, yet start your comment by saying it made you extremeely uncomfortable and angry. lol It can't be both. lol Contradicting yourself. If people can't understand the satire, which is what this show is predicated on, then they either aren't paying attention, or are always looking to get outraged at anything. South Park does the same thing. Extremely exaggerated characters doing shocking things, all to prove a point or make a comment about society. The only backlash I ever remember from this show when it was airing was when they switched writers in the later seasons and it wasn't nearly as good. But as for the first 3 seasons, it was highly acclaimed. And to be fair, before I finished typing this comment I went to Google and searched "Boondocks MLK controversy. Absolutely nothing came up. lol
I, as a fellow indulger of a plant of the cannabis variety, request more uploads of beautiful dogs, SP, and boondocks episodes. Thank you. Stay fried my brothers
You know, there was that girl that tried to vandalize King's former home. It's really not as far off as it seems. Ruckus is still the best character ever conceived.
Damn bro, whats happening to your eyes? The "Yo, what up, aight" guy. Looking like a mad raccoon with how dark it is around your eyes. Not sleeping? Sick? Get well guy.
does anyone know what "the revolution" is? huey always references it but never actually describes what it entails. it seems to be just stopping the war in the middle east. but how does that help black people here again? is it like a prob islam thing? or pro christian thing cuz hes a priest?
As far as I can tell, Huey probably has the same philosophy as the black activists in the 1960s. He sees himself as a sort of Malcom X type figure, a black nationalist and most likely a Marxist. Being a Marxist, that’s most likely where he gets his talk of “revolution”. In his eyes, black people are blinded by consumerism, bad education, and decadence. He doesn’t want to sit around and wait for white people to solve black problems, because he believes the conditions negatively effecting black people have been set up, sometimes purposely by white people. He dreams of a day when black people will wake up, overthrow the system and solve their own problems, ie “the revolution”.
It should be a revolution of going back to many values of the older generation. The number of black criminals is very high, poverty, ignorance, shootings, violence, drop outs, evil, laziness etc. are not what the older generation fought so hard for and its a shame.
This country would be such a better place... I mean, eventually Martin luther king would be attacked in the media for being anti gay, but atleast the younger generation would be more aware of the difference between mlk and malcolm x, and therefore malcolm x would be looked at for the horrible person he was while Martin luther king would be still talked about as a great man, even with the media attacks. And people like Jessie Jackson and AL Sharpton wouldn't have had a career race baiting and grifting, which would be great because they are, in my opinion, worse than malcolm x, because as they stir up racism as well, they purposely do it in a way where they can pretend to be innocent, malcolm x atleast was honest about what he thought. And don't tell me that malcolm x changed his way on his death bed, that's the same rumor Christians passed around about Darwin, they said that before he died he admitted he made it all up... it's bullshit revisionist history and even if it is true, when did it matter? It's not like all the lies he spoke and anger he stirred up, and riots he orchestrated suddenly were healed from the brains of the populace. Martin luther king was too correct and inspiring with his message, thats what made him more dangerous to the elites than malcolm x, who basically just made 1 percent of 10 percent of 5 percent of the population get violent, the people in power don't care about that, it wasn't their houses getting destroyed (just like blm riots), but mlk was uniting the people towards peace, which is far more powerful.

Many 39 year old black men in America have hearts of a 60 year old. (Heart conditions, blood pressure, and diabetes). All by design by the way.
@@rosscoeradio3741lol wat
Maaaan RIP Witherspoon, we needed that season 5 with Aaron back writing.

The “I Love Jim Crow” sign is one of the funniest Ruckus moments! 😂
Holy shit, the writing on this show was genius social commentary.
