    Hi, you two, I am a subscriber but just waned you to know that this is not actually a true depiction of life in Istanbul.
    Maybe a true depiction of a part of Turkey, but where they are living (if it’s where I think it is) is way out of Istanbul centre. It’s a place where there is a lot of property development going on aimed at foreigners buying into the CBI program and it’s well, well away from Istanbul proper.
    You can buy real estate in Istanbul proper at affordable prices and have no need to buy a car, which would be IMO a much better investment.
    Also the information he gave regarding residency and time lines is not completely accurate. I encourage viewers to do their own due diligence as far as these things are concerned. That said, they were a lovely and kind couple who opened up their lives to your viewers and for that I am very grateful.

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel  3 года назад +1

      Interesting, I had to go look at the video. The crime is pretty low compared to most US large cities but burglaries can happen. They are tough on criminals if caught so that is a big deterrent. I’m guessing the wire may be up to deter people from wandering in during construction and hopefully replaced with something more appealing after completion.

We could live in either and be very happy. Please once you visit both let us know your thoughts. Part of the reason we retired the way we have, we like too many places. Lviv is a bigger city and has more night life and more cuisine options, Novi Sad is a comfortable size and very family friendly if this helps.

      I visited both Belgrade and Istanbul in 2021. For me, Turkey was better in every way than Serbia. I was ripped off my dishonest business practices and bank card fraud in Serbia. Plus the food, weather and friendliness of the people is *much* higher in Turkey according to my observations. Also, social harmony is better in Turkey. Although there is some resentment to Kurds and especially Syrian refugees (my Kurdish friend 'kicked the cat' by looking down his nose at anyone speaking Arabic), in Belgrade at least the far-right of Serbia is reacting negatively to refugees using Serbia as an entry point to EU. In the lower income part of Belgrade near the bus station, one park is full of young unaccompanied males of questionable pasts. Plus, in general I found Serbians much gruffer than Turks who are by comparison the epitome of courtesy.

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel  2 года назад

      It’s accurate, few people have a mortgage in Turkiye, they may get a couple years from a builder. Rent is cheap watch some of our other videos, it can run $250 to $750, this home would probably run in the $400 to $450 range. He is an American of Iraqi decent, last I knew being an American citizen makes you an American. Regardless if he was a Canadian or a Martian it would make no difference in the content conversation.

    • @hermes8258
      @hermes8258 2 года назад

      @@WarrenJulieTravel I meant culturally, not just legalistically. What I heard in the video was Palestinian, though of course there are more Palestinian refugees (even of multi-generations) in countries such as Jordan, than in the disputed territories themselves. I disagree with your definition. Even if I became a citizen of Turkey (doubt possible) I would always be Canadian.
      Regarding, property... I believe you about rent. I visited Turkey for the first time in 2021. Don't know why I waited so long - wonderful country for those with hard currency who love great food, friendly people and super infrastructure. However, as far as being secular goes this seems to be more of a thing in Istanbul than say Konya or Antakya. Even some parts of Istanbul, e.g. Uskandar, have rather loud calls to prayer early in the morning compared to Kadikoy. Having either visited or set up apartments in several countries with a Muslim-majority or Islamic governments (Malaysia, Bangladesh and Dubai) I found as a secular Buddhist that Turkey was much easier to take. Even as a non-Muslim I found the call to prayer generally to be sweet. Putting Turkey in perspective with other Asian Muslim-majority countries, I found Turkey much more appealing than Indonesia. Jakarta is a shit-hole. Istanbul is a civilized metropolis. My only major concerns about returning to sojourn in Turkey are economic and social. Politics affects prices and social harmony. Turkey is not stable IMHO.
