    I am so thankful for my university that people understand that some days are better than others. Where on bad days I need to use the wheelchair. I graduated last night and throughout the ceremony I used the chair, but I walked across the stage (I was determined to). When I started to use the chair again I was so scared being at a new school people would stare at me during the moments of standing to get something, like they did in high school. I am so thankful for you that you have this platform and talk about invisible disabilities. I can wait for you to go back to school! My friend and I both have POTS and graduated last night. If we can do it I know you can!

    Your such a wonderful women. Your so brave everyday. Harlow is great. I am also use a. Hair for severe arthritis as you said Hidden handicap. I also don't hear voices well. I get people who want me to move and speak behind my back. They take it as I am being rude and ignoring them. Been pushed, almost in a fight because they don't know didn't hear them.
    What I am trying to say keep up videos. Makes me feel like I am not alone in dealing with events.

Hopefully now you won't have to answer the same questions over and over and over again! You are such an inspiration! I'm 24 and was diagnosed with a kidney disease in march and have been trying to adjust to the struggles that comes with it. The symptoms make it really hard to walk and the medication I'm talking makes me dizzy, light headed and weak a lot so I've considered getting a wheelchair. I'm just worried about the the judgmental looks I'll get because I don't look "sick."

    • @ChronicallyJaquie
      @ChronicallyJaquie  7 лет назад +5

      I personally do not mind the looks I get (I do not usually notice them due to my autism). I would rather ease my symptoms, but of course we all deal with things in different ways!

    Hi! I loved watching your information videos, they were so well made. As you continue to enhance your RUclips channel, you may want to consider adding the feature that allows your viewers to write out the captions to your videos so that those who can't hear as well can enjoy them too. Although I don't need captions to watch your videos, I'd be more than happy to write them out so that everyone can watch them. :)

      A few people have mentioned this to me and I am trying to figure out how to do this. I would love to have people caption my videos. Unfortunately I do not have the time to do so myself, but if others could help make my videos more accessible it would be amazing. Especially since my father is nearly completely deaf - He would benefit a lot from this. I have been looking at my creator studio thoroughly and I guess I still am missing the option to turn that on. :/

    You and Harlow's Namaste made the front page of Reddit earlier! Wasn't expecting to see you guys when I logged in there! haha. Glad you're doing better today. I also use a wheelchair sometimes, and it's old people that tend to be really rude, at least near me. Not all of them, but my worst experiences have been with the over-70 set. Had an eighty-something full on yell at me in a grocery store once. I don't use it just to annoy you, I use it because I literally can't walk more than a few feet at a time. Grah. Anyway, thanks for the little wheelchair PSA. Hopefully it'll help people think before judging/being rude. Keep up the vlogs- you brighten our day every time. :D

    Hi Jaquie! Thank you so much for always posting here and on social media, I have Gastroparesis as well and A few other chronic illnesses including a conversion disorder and PNES . There were a lot of times that I was getting so frustrated and wanted to give up, that is until I found you guys on social media. You and Harlow are actually the ones who helped me figure out that I could have a service dog. Harlow showed me what I wanted in a service dog and all of the things a service dog could do for me. My family also got on board with the idea of a service dog after showing them your instagram and youtube. Disney (my service dog) has since been my lifeline and my best friend. My quality of life has improved tremendously and I really wanted to thank you for that

    Your informational videos are great. The table of contents is really helpful, too. I also have Epilepsy that is too deep within my brain to show up on an EEG. I did a 4-day EEG at Yale hospital, and had a lot of seizures (I get simple-partials), but they only detected a few of them on the EEG. Judd's dancing skills... 👌🏼 On point. If there's anything that just aggravates me, it's the response and assumptions that come from adults, you can't blame kids because they just have to learn. I'm sorry you get so much crap, because you don't ask about anything they go through so it's none of their business. I hope you had a great day, and please be careful not eating. No feeding tubes!

    I couldnt fall asleep last night so i marathoned some of your old videos to catch up on how far you have come this year. It is inspiring how strong and positive you are in the face of trials. I have been feeling bad for having to rely on daily medication to feel normal, but You've shown me that it is about making life easier to live and not about a cure. I do not feel ashamed to rely on medication as you have no fear to rely on your wheelchair when you need it. Thank you, jaquie.

    Jaquie - you amaze me every day. I found your account because of my interest in Service Dogs. Like so many of your viewers, I discovered that your current situation with health issues resonates so deeply with my own life. I am so proud of the way you (and Judd) handle all the challenges, and that your "service dog" is part of the family!!!. What a great job you are doing!!! You have a maturity far beyond your years (speaking as a 50-year old who has dealt with chronic illness and surgery since I was born). I'm sorry that you have all this going on in your life , but I am SO APPRECIATIVE of all the helpful information your share with us. Thanks for all the hours of work on the videos. Jaquie girl you did a phenomenal job with your chronic illness video! I too have IBS and also GERD/Acid Reflux. Triggers are mainly stress and nervousness. But they are not as bad as I used to have them back in the day. My gut is also extremely sensitive to spices/herbs and condiments. For anyone reading this if you have GERD or Acid Reflux I highly recommend you get off PPI's as they will mess around with your body. They never did an ounce of work for me. I am taking a tea called "cuatchalalate" otherwise known as Juliana Adstringes. You can find this at a local hispanic market or on amazon. Boil the tree bark for 4-6 hours till crimson red. Consume on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and dear lord I can not express how much relief I received. A burning sensation in my esophagus was always present but it finally went away.

    So true about wheelchairs. On a day to day basis. My mom and sister don't use them. I have a SD and only deal with the daily stares. But when we decide to go to Disney or universal. My sister gets a scooter and I get my mom a wheelchair. My sister has arthritis and mom is diabetic the long lines can really drain their energy and strength levels. But here are 3 women having a good time not looking sick with wheelchairs and a SD. Also sometimes I'll use the scooter and let my sister walk some since any position for a long time hurts her joints. We get the see their fine just trying to play with the system. Once my sister was even told you know those are for people with disabilities.

    I use a 3-wheel electric scooter that I use for transportation as I cannot walk long distances. I also sometimes have to wear a mask when out in public. I use the paper kind which are so uncomfortable, make my face very hot, fog up my glasses, and are just plain uncomfortable. Yours looks like you may not have some of those patterns. Would you please share with those of us who sometimes need a mask where you got yours. It not only look more comfortable but also is so cute! I am currently recovering from a 5-week respiratory failure that started out with an allergy attack, progressing to exacerbated asthma, and then into bronchitis. Thank you for all your videos and for help with the mask! God bless you and that wonderful guy of yours. I'm 74 and have been married to the same wonderful man for 56 years. The good ones are sometimes hard to find. Didn't we get lucky! 💞

    3:35 Well, he did as you asked, Jaquie. :-)
    4:33 I had a hard time trying to understand you at this point.
    5:53 His being a Jaws fan explains why he scared your socks off in a video I watched earlier.
    7:16 This reminds me of when my dearest Cori mentioned how much she likes Disney and she said, in response, she was reminded that she's an adult now. When I heard this from her, I was like "So...?".
    8:11 I like that pun so much!
    11:15 I do not understand why anyone would post negative comments about a video in which you explain about yourself.
    12:14 Thank you for sharing as much as you do.

    They sell silicone trays on amazon that would be super easy for you! I bought some for my dog and they work really well! The ones I got are little bones which make it even more fun. But the ice cubes just come out and you don't have to crack the tray

      @ChronicallyJaquie  7 лет назад +1

      We hate silicone haha because they flop all over the place and the water spills out!

    • @handsomezebra
      @handsomezebra 7 лет назад +4

      They also make plastic ones with a silicone bottom that acts like a "button" that you can press and it gets the cubes out pretty easily!

    Hi Jaquie! You did a great job with your videos, they were very informative. As a spoonie myself, I love watching videos like yours from other spoonies because it helps to know I'm not in this fight alone. I was just curious, does your doctor also have you take steroids with IV Benadryl for your Angiodema Attacks?

    I have crps which is bad enough, but I think I'm going to have to talk to my doctor. In somewhat recent history, I've been randomly flop sweating horribly so, to the point my hair will look like I've shampooed it. Without warning, but then I get so dizzy and faintish. My blood does pool in my legs, that's a symptom of crps too. my central and autonomic nervous systems are compromised. It just sucks. And yes! just because you can't see someone's disability, doesn't mean they're not disabled. I made a video semi talking about that. judgements are not nice. anyways, hope you're having an ok day. much love xoxo

    Jaquie you are such a great person and you push through even though you have many chronic diseases. I also have a lot of chronic diseases and it seems like I am a normal person but I actually have many chronic diseases but they don't rule my life. I go about my daily life just like a normal person would but I just do a couple things differently. I have god allergies, allergies to insects, asthma, hypoglycemia (sometimes), and chronic allergies. These conditions don't define me. I take action to prevent flare ups and do everything I can to keep myself healthy.

    I just thought about this, when I'm too weak to shower I usually reach for the dry shampoo, but as a cosmetologist I know that too much dry shampoo in the hair drys up the scalp and it gets to the point where it feels kinda gross. Lately I have been using no rinse shampoo caps and it actually cleans my hair! It helps so much when you just want to feel clean but it's too difficult to take a shower.

    • @ChronicallyJaquie

      They had those in the hospital but they do not work well with how long my hair is. I stick with dry shampoo and it does well for me! :)

    I have fibromyalgia, and quite a few other illnesses. I tend to use a wheelchair when I'm in a severe flare up. I thankfully have a family that will rent a wheelchair at the mall, etc. when I need one. Using the wheelchair is a last resort for me, and I have to feel pretty poorly to do it. I hate getting those looks.

    Just watched all your new videos back to back, I loved them an and they were so SO helpful to me I can't thank you enough.
    I have some questions if you have a moment to answer any time soon.
    Firstly could you do a video about your experience of Mayo Clinic? What to expect, your experience, tests you did there ect.
    Also at what point do you think a port is a good choice? How long do you think you should have been having IV treatment for a port to be a good choice?
    How do you deal with brain fog? With all your appointments and keeping track of daily training, infusions, dr's, Harlow's diet and just regular cleaning. Do you have calendars/diary?
    And do you use a spoonie binder? With all your symptoms, appointments and dr's so it's all in one place. If so could you do a video on how you put it together/what you keep in there/dr's response to it ect.
    Thank you for reading this and I hope you can manage some answers. Thank you again for all the videos and for how much they help me ❤❤❤

    • @ChronicallyJaquie
      @ChronicallyJaquie  7 лет назад

      So glad you liked the videos! Here are the answers to your Qs in order:
      1) I probably will not make a Mayo vid because I had some bad experiences and I do not want people deciding not to go just because I had a bad time. Just because it did not work for me, does not mean it won't work for someone else. I did have a lot of great experiences too, but some bad ones.
      2) Brain fog - no magical way to deal except manage as best I can. Sorry, I do not really have an answer for this one!
      3) I have a portfolio with all my important medical records. Eventually I will make a vid about how to get answers when you are chronically ill, and I will include info on that. That video will not be happening soon though.

    I just want to say, your an inspiration. My niece also has autism, and an unknown cause for her seizures (she has about 100 a day without medication, but with medications she has about 40-60. *Its a staring spell seizure*.)
    I want to talk my sister into getting a dog to be trained for a service dog. I'm just scared that she will say its way to much money, or that it is no use because of how many seizures my niece does have a day, any advice?

      It is really up to your sister, you can't force this choice on anyone because getting a SD is a BIG life change. Maybe try watching my All About Harlow video and my Service Dog 101 video with her? It gives out a lot of good SD info :)

    Hi, I love your videos you uploaded yesterday they are so helpful! Do you think you'll ever put captions in your videos,? The auto generated ones often don't make sense 😂 sorry if you've already answered this question too. Love and spoons!

    • @ChronicallyJaquie
      @ChronicallyJaquie  7 лет назад

      I am so glad you like them! I honestly just do not have the ability/time to caption my own videos between the videos I am working on now, my daily vlogs, and dealing with my health/life in general. It would be putting too much on me. But just today I discovered how to let people from the RUclips community contribute captions! So hopefully people will do that to make my videos more accessible. It would be awesome for my family too, as my dad is nearly completely deaf. So I hope people contribute! :)
