The second house had more living/kitchen space and a silly wall-mounted fireplace, but the first one seemed to have a larger bedroom and a functional woodstove.

1st home: inadequately small living space with no real dining space. The rest is ok and I prefer a wood stove over a fireplace any day!
2nd home: much more living space! Upstairs BR is nicely sized but I need a toilet up there, too… perhaps in that landing space by the stairs? How about adding an additional 3 in the back which would enable an upstairs half bath and a real dining area downstairs?

I'd vote for house #2 but with a true woodburning stove--since the one in the house doesn't have an outdoor chimney.

Love the second one with the porches but an upstairs bedroom must have at least a half bath. Hard for a house that small.
