Paradise Parados by Teresita Fernández

Internationally acclaimed conceptual artist Teresita Fernández discusses her new work with BAM Guest Curator-at-Large Larry Ossei-Mensah. Paradise Parados is a site-specific, permanent sculpture created for the terrace of BAM Strong, connected to the Harvey Theater. “I’m not really looking at traditional notions of the landscape,” she says. “I’m asking myself, ‘Where am I? Where am I in this place? What happened here? Who lived here? What’s covered up? What’s visible?’ In this way, I often say landscape is often about what you’re not seeing, what’s not being given visibility.”
