كبر عارف جمّن في بيت موسيقي، وتعلّم عزف آلة الكمان من شقيقه الأكبر، وبرع بالعزف حتى ذاع صيته في عدن كأصغر عازف للكمان، وكان أصغر من انضم لفرقة (الأنامل الذهبية) القديرة، وبدأ بدراسته للموسيقى في معهد الفنون الجميلة في عدن، والذي فتح له باب السفر ودراسة الموسيقى الكلاسيكية في روسيا.
اشتهر عارف جمن في شبابه على صعيد العالم العربي كعازف للعود بعدما شارك في كتابة ألبوم ردود للفنان الكبير أبو بكر سالم، وبعدها طلب منه مصاحبته للقاهرة ولكن لعزف العود بدلًا من الكمان، وأُعجب بأداءه فنان العرب، وطلب منه أن يكون يشارك كعازف للعود في إحدى إحتفالاته في لندن.
أصدر عارف ألبومات تقديرية للأغنية العدنية مثل ”نغمات خليجية يمنية على العود“، وشارك في إنتاج أغاني لأكبر الفنانين الخليجيين كمحمد عبده وأبو بكر سالم، وكان جزءًا من فرقتهما لأعوام.

The full episode of artist Aref Jaman
Aref Juman grew up in a musical household, and learned to play the violin from his older brother. He was such a talent that he became famous in Aden as the youngest violin player. He was the youngest to join the famous “AlAnamil AlThahabiya” band, and began his studies in music at the Institute of Fine Arts in Aden, which opened for him the door to travel and study classical music in Russia.
Aref became famous in the Arab world as an oud player after he participated in writing the album “Rudood” by the great artist Abu Bakr Salem. After that, he was asked to accompany him to Cairo, but to play the oud instead of the violin. The Artist of the Arabs, Mohammed Abdu, was impressed by his performance, and asked him to participate as an oud player in one of his performances in London.
Aref released tribute albums to the Aden song, such as “ Khaleeji and Yemeni pieces on the Oud,” and participated in the production of songs by the biggest Khaleeji artists, such as Mohammed Abdu and Abu Bakr Salem, and was a member of their band for years.
