      @@Tommy1marg Because there is no firearm you can say you can build for $1000 (or any price for that matter) when you don’t know how much ammunition you’ll need.
      It’s like saying that if you’re remodeling a kitchen, that you need to incorporate the price of food into it.
      Someone buying a new vehicle doesn’t include the cost of fuel into the purchase.
      Sure, for a first time gun owner, they need to understand that ammunition will need to be part of the investment. Accessories are too, although they can be added over time, if time isn’t a major factor.
      Ammo simply isn’t part of the cost of a build. A chest rig, night vision or body armor isn’t included in the price of a build. The rifle itself, and whatever accessories actually attach to the rifle are a part of the build. Ammo is like gas for a car, you don’t include it in the price of a car, as you expect to constantly have to replace gas or ammo. If you plan on shooting a lot, you couldn’t build any rifle for under $5k.

Oh well shit happens with any gun of any level at any price point, even top of the line. So if the barrel is worn, save up buy a chrome lined barrel slap it on the M&P and start sending more lead down range. Problem solved and now you have got an upgraded barrel and still have a great rifle that will outlive you. I see nothing but positives with making this purchase.

      Yes and no. S&W’s HQ is in Springfield, MA. I actually went to school with Seth Wesson as a kid. He’s about my age. They understand liberals being from the NE. What they did and how they marketed the M&P-15 was both smart and accurate. The M&P-15 really isn’t 100% milspec, doesn’t have a full auto sear or BCG. Also if you’re marketing it to sportsmen, that’s more palatable than marketing it to warmongers. That’s the trap you will fall into. My point is that words matter so you have to be careful in selecting them. An “M&P-15 Sport” (Sporter) is a term that conjures going to the range not conducting a war. Your “weapons of war” approach gives credence to the narrative that we as lawful gun owners are about war, not self defense and these lefty jackasses in the media are going to take advantage of the average American’s lack of acuity on your valid point about irregular militias being protected by the 2nd Amendment. Liberal Marxists want to stomp that point out by invalidating it. The same way they want to define who a journalist is, they want to control legal use of deadly force and who can use it by defining who exactly is a solider and can use it legally. Your approach will be used to facilitate this goal of theirs using the same tool they used so effectively last year, fear. Our right to defend ourselves, property and rights is encoded in the 2nd Amendment. The right to “make war” is less defensible and the average person isn’t going to support that narrative, so think about modifying it before it is too late please. That isn’t going to get traction. I hear you in that we should not be apologizing to the lefties and I don’t like them, what they are about and least of all what they are trying to do here... implement Marxism.
      An armed civilian populace is not encouraged in Marxist societies so you would be under their boot and under their hegemony.
      Bill Ruger understood this and kept the Mini-14 legal in most of the ban states in how it was designed and marketed as a civilian weapon, not a “weapon of war”. That’s called smart, not apologetic,
      We’d better fight a smart fight with brains and balls or we will lose. Marxists always want a monopoly on violence. Read the Manifesto and Rules for Radicals. Understand their game plan and you can get ahead of it.

      FYI: If you put the SW MP15 Upper on a Military FN Lower with an AUTOMATIC Setting and fired a couple of Magpul 60 Round Drum Magazines THRU IT the Upper in Automatic FIRE the Upper would have a MELTDOWN about half way thru the Second Drum because that Barrel, Handguard and Gas Tube will NOT TAKE the HEAT!
      There are MAJOR Differences between a Military M4/M16 and a Civilian AR-15 YES there are SOME AR15 that are BUILD to M4/M16 Standards of AUTOMATIC Fire but those are VERY FEW and they are NOT all COLT weapons FNH makes a Closer weapon since they use the SAME Barrel in both Lines. Just because something Looks Alike Does NOT Mean it will Perform the Same way!
      Let me give you an Example do you think that an Invicta Automatic Watch that retails for 200 dollars and Looks like a Rolex Submariner is Going to Performed the Same way as a 12,000 dollar Rolex? They both tell time but the Rolex can go down 200-300 meter Underwater without issues the Invicta might be able to go 150-200 meter a few times before the Seals FAIL!

      I got my PSA rifle for $390 with a magpul flip up and a fixed sight post. 1000rds through it and it hasn't malfunctioned. Primary arms fixed 3x with a non battery dependent reticle, sling, and grip. this also lets me take the optic off and use the irons if it broke. I'm in it like $600. Can get an airsoft chest rig for like $35 which would be plenty sufficient for shooting drills, and 500rd, still easy under 1k.

      Yeah i was gifted a dpms oracle as my first ar years ago and to me it was just a cheaper feeling version of something like an m&p but i swapped to an aero upper, new trigger, and everything. Had a good few malfunctions on the dpms upper but since swapping internals and uppers ive only had 1 light primer strike in 1,500+ rounds on the upper, a lot of the time in dust, dirt, and rain. Aero is solid.

Or you can buy a build kit for the same price just better quality and assemble it yourself. You can build a hundred different rifle variations for $1,000 or less but when you're talking about all the attachments and thousand rounds of ammo and all of that that is not what you stated in the beginning of the video.

      Literally just had an experience that made this entire comment ridiculous. Long story short, it makes re-zeroing an optic or red dot on a new rifle way quicker then starting from scratch. The added benefit from all this is a mount that maintains zero when moved is going to better maintain zero when bumped around.

    • @jsee2385
      @jsee2385 2 года назад +5

      It's a quality standard. The point he made was the more expensive optic returned to zero, because of the quality its manufactured thus making it cost more. It fits much tighter on the gun and won't move around. Even when removed and put on another gun. Your more expensive optic mounts and or just optics come with a return to zero guarantee.

      @@xPRODIGYxGAMER The fact that you compared a 100 dollar optic to something like an aimpoint shows that youre out of your depth. Trust me, if they were "Just as good", our military would be all over it. They give money to the lowest bidder, so why do you think the optics they buy are "Expensive" compared to the rest? Because optics like acogs and aimpoints are so many magnitudes better than the vortex or sig optics that militaries all over the world understand that the increase in quality is worth the 4-5 time markup. Return to zero is a quality control component, not something you'd ever really use. If an optic and mount can be knocked around, taken off, replaced, and shoot true to zero, it's well build. Your sample size of one optic isn't a true test, plenty of hi points out there that never jammed, does that make them good?

    • @keggerous
      @keggerous 2 года назад +6

      @@mynameisjeff6988 I'm sorry but the return to zero quality of a sight is due to the mounting method and hardware and not some "build quality" issue. I am yet another person who owns a Romeo5 and I can also confirm that you can knock them around and they maintain zero quite well. The reason they don't "return to zero" when you remove them and put them on another gun or the same gun later on is because the mounting solution doesn't allow for repeatable positioning on the gun. Which, is really only a problem if you remove it and put it back on. If you aren't going to do that, then they stay in zero fine. In fact, I've seen people test the zero on the Romeo by throwing it off a building and it remained at a perfect zero. Also, the reason the Sig isn't even considered for duty in the military is probably the same reason it's not respected by peoppe like yourself, that's because it's made in China... Let's be real here folks.

    My first AR platform was an M&P Sport II. I've only put about 1500 rounds through it in the 6 months I've had it. I threw an Aimpoint PRO on it, a 15" MLOK handguard (small brand, not sure if it will hold zero with an IR device), redid the gas system, Streamlight railmount with a pressure switch, Blueforce gear sling, FAB Defense GL-Core stock (kind of wish I went with a Magpul CTR lol), M&P sling swivel in the rear, and a couple of other minor changes. Internals and trigger are all stock.
    I'll say that the only malfunctions I've had in that time were related to very used Gen-2 Magpul PMAGs I got from a friend. The malfunctions cease entirely when I use brand new PMAGs. The rifle is definitely not a terrible starting point for new AR platform folks, but you may get some buyer's remorse once you start getting more educated on the platform and other options out there. The money I've put into "upgrades" could definitely have been spent on a BCM upper and Aero Precision lower to start with; but I wouldn't have gotten the experience of tinkering along the way. There's something about buying a lower tier gun that makes me go out and research the crap out of the platform. One of the two jobs I work require me to be armed while on duty, and this gun is always either at my knees or on my body. I confirm zero with both my optic and irons at least once a month, and practice dry reload and fire drills daily with it just to keep proficiency; the same goes for my Glock 19.
    For what you pay for an M&P Sport/Sport II, I'd say it's fine so long as you're keeping up with the maintenance and training. If $1000 is your budget for a carbine, there's definitely worse options. Build out accessories over time, and train with your savings. I've spent way more on supporting gear than on the gun itself. I bought the gun when I did because I wanted to start getting time behind the platform ASAP before I went into the field I'm going into now. Still way better with my Glock though lol.
