Im starting orientation Tuesday and i want to do the truck driving thing I’m scared nervous and I over think things man any tips for rookies going into cdl like I’m a good lister but I’m not so good with test taking

An up date with me. I bought a match box toy 18 semi and drew out this on paper and practiced it in the kitchen, while I am away from school......It was the video here that showed me what I could do, that my instructor kept on just saying, "Figure it out on you own." After the first 3 steps on this sheet that they gave us,,,,I kept on saying in anger, "Well tell me what way I need to turn to get it to ,,,,Give ME Some Options!
Now you might could say , to just practice." And yes I would love to, but:
we only get 2 time in the driver seat because there is 5 in our group and we then move on to another type parking exercise before the day is over..... So this video was really cool and I am now excited to go back and drive this into the spot...I mean,,,wish me luck! Haha.....Thanks my friend!

Great tutorial! There’s a cool video game called Snow Runner where you can actually practice this all you want from in-cab view and overhead view. It helped me a lot as far as understanding how the trailer reacts while backing.

It's REALLY hard in real life. I just failed my back portion of the test.

I’m having trouble shifting gears driving without grinding or getting wrong gear lol, I’m confident with alley docking and need more practice on parallel in case I get that section

Yup. Even with my 200 dollar plus Bose speaker, I have to hold the speaker to my ear. It's a shame too, since the visual presentation and the audio explanations are so detailed but still brief.

What if your doing it on 28ft. They move quicker than any 53ft?
Passed my CDL exam as of today, 9/19/2022. I failed my first attempt with parallel to the passenger side.

I guess i should be blessed. That i was able to be a yard jockey with a private company for over a year before getting my cdl. Soon after getting my cdl i had to go yard jockey for another company in a sleeper cab. That experience was by far the single handed worst experience ever.
They teaching us differently at our school we have to do RLRS back meaning we have to push the trailer with the tractor 😭 that 90 is hard

I’m having a hard time because at my school they make me come out of the lane straight and then do a sharp left and get parallel with the cones and then begin the maneuver. I’m coming in too close to the cones making it hard to complete the maneuvers.
I failed my test today 😢 couldn’t do the 90. But did it perfect on the field practicing. My nerves are bad

here in MI, you have to do in cab, pre-trip then maneuver's but if you fail any one of those, you can't go out on the road & drive....

In real life you'll be backing into spaces not over 10' wide in total dark and no lines on ground to go by.
Have to start somewhere. Plus in real life you can get out and pull up infinite times. Also can put magnet lights on your trailer and throw chem lights on the ground if you need to.
