GE Advantium Microwave makes noise while off; makes humming noise like something is on or running

GE Advantium microwave oven makes noise even when it is OFF. It sounds like a motor is running. The noise is coming from the damper motor which is trying to open the damper door, even though the damper door is open. This video shows you possible solutions (pros and cons) to eliminate the noise without installing a new part, since replacement parts are no longer available.

Good information, but the video was so dark I couldn't see the door. Our GE Spacemaker is making a sound that sounds like a hard drive writing data.
