Rare moment of Blooms not talking about South Park (not clickbait)
Yep
I love these videos, he could honestly talk abt anything
@@krispyk5854 ikr!!
These are so far all bangers sadly i dont see them as quick as the south park one
😱😱😱
Fun fact: Crickets and praying mantis can live through the hair worm parasite if they don’t drown during the process!
14:34 Fun fact for folks that are fans of the Chainsaw Man anime.
You might recognize the disco snails are the same snails that Makima is feeding Denji in the opening intro visuals of the show, that was the animators little hint as to how just like the worms and the snails, Makima could be manipulating Denji for... something.
As some who finished the manga, it surely is something.
Personally I enjoy these topics that are not South Park related equally as much as the videos that are. I’d love to see you keep making both!
Same
;)
If ever there was a "zombie" disease we needed to worry about, it'd be a large scale wave of rabies. Scariest 3 word horror story?
"Rabies is airborne."
2 sentence horror story
I usually don’t rage at video games, so I got on my phone.
Then I saw the outbreak alert.
‘I’m not going to wear a mask, rabies isn’t THAT bad.’
I suggest "Rant" by Chuck Palahniuk. It's a crazy rabies tale.
@vamp97 Some time later: starts foaming at the mouth
If a disease is too fatal, it would be less successful then a nonfatal disease since it will kill off their hosts to fast.
There’s a parasite that crawls into a tadpole near where it’s legs come out, it causes them to grow extra legs so that the froglet is more likely to be eaten by a bird due to its new handicap
yes its a flatworm that will shatter chromosones causing for deformities anywhere from extra legs to eyes or legs in the mouth teeth on their back or really anything else but its random each time due to the literal shattering of them.
Despite being aware of a lot of these parasites - weird interests as a teen and... some rather questionable career ambitions I was studying for - and the inherently horrific nature of them, I have to hand it to you, Bloom. You've got one hell of a way to reignite the innate nausea of being placed in the victims' perspectives and making it all the more terrifying to think about.
honestly parasites deserve more love, or at least respect. The fact that these creatures can do this to their hosts is absolutely insane- I knew about all of these aside from the wasps that brainwash the spider and that absolutely blew me away. Parasites are an incredible feat of nature and are so ingenious. Though, that might be the parasitic worm inside my brain speaking for me, ready to start a zombie outbreak.
If this channel turns into a lighter take on those “hey guys, check out this creepy/scary thing I found” channels I’ll be all for it.
Now I'm assuming that those scenes from World War Z were hard to watch, seeing as they were a combo of tidal waves AND zombies!
So this is why Kenny keeps coming back to life.
I never thought of it that way
That moment you mentioned Spider-Wasps I was like “AW HECK NAW! THAT CAN’T BE REAL!”
Update: it’s not some wasp/spider chimera fusion like I thought…
It’s FAR WORSE!
Indeed, a Wasp that kills spiders is scarier
Nah yall waiy
fun fact: some people willingly eat cordyceps as a "superfood", which is just a little horrifying when there's a non-zero percent chance that it might somehow evolve to work on humans or other vertebrates
also, for toxo, it seemingly has effects on lifestock like cows, sheep, and pigs, more specifically they seem to make them more likely to miscarry. which is why some farmers are advocating against use of barn cats and instead allowing snakes or owls and other raptors hunt the mice, since they could in theory be more effective at hunting mice than cats are, since cats also hunt for songbirds and has left a huge impact on some songbird populations.
Cordyceps affects Ants. Do you know how much farther up the chain of evolution, humans are from Ants. No, the earth will expire from a heat death by the sun before cordyceps even gets close to Humans, for a fungi to even think to start evolving it would first need a reason to do so and that hasn't been given nor will it ever be given for them to infect humans. It simply only exists in the realm of science fiction like time travel or teleportation.
Non zero percent chance is crazy.
@@florentineeffect like i get it, the fungus is extremely unlikely to develop to become parasitic in humans, but there's still a miniscule chance that it might yet people eat it. its like eating parasitic worms that only affect some bird species because "they aren't parasitic to humans" yeah but WHY would you do that wtf
cordyceps becomes completely incapable of incubation at 90°F, and humans can develop fevers a few degrees above the normal temperature (97°F), and we can withstand fevers of around 102° without serious harm, unless it stays for a very long time. so while there technically is a non-zero chance, the fungus would have to evolve *significant* heat resistance to even be able to survive in the human body, and that's not even to mention the immune system fighting fungus or the fact that it would extremely likely not affect humans in the way it affects insects, due to the fact that we have far different neural structures and brains that are alien when compared to each other. so even if cordyceps could survive in our body heat, chances are it would be more similar to typical fungal infections rather than the complete takeover that ants experience.
I love that your doing more variety content that’s not just South Park you always go so in depth
This series might as well be named “things that have kept Blooms up at night”
The spider wasp was really interesting to me because it’s basically just Rateatoullie but themed around Alien. It also kind of reminded me of one of D’vorah’s fatalities from Mortal Kombat 11, wherein it bursts from the spider’s body and then is a new life. It’s really cool.
As a Doctor, and a science nerd, I approve this video as a rare moment of Blooms not talking about South Park 👍
But seriously, I love these short, non South Park related videos for a change of pace. Keep up the good work, dude!
Hi, if you are scared of toxo just remember to clean your vegetables! The most common way of getting infected is by eating contaminated vegetables and gardening. You may not have a cat, but maybe one likes to poop in your yard, and if you don't wash your hands after gardening there is risk of getting the parasites to your mouth.
Besides that, remember a cat will only be infectious for a couple weeks in its life, so don't go kicking little snowball out of the house. Also the cat poop has to be at least 4 days old, the eggs need a bit of maturing to be able to infect, so keep the cleaning of the litter box regular and don't go licking your hands after doing so.
Cordyceps mushrooms are used by some cultures as folk medicine. I don't think that will ever become a zombie outbreak. Though it is a fun concept. I actually have a bin of them. I got it in a health food store. Though the cat parasite is a truly terrifying parasite.
I know these types of videos may not be as popular as your South Park ones, I absolutely love them! Please do more like these!
Hopefully you'll continue this and bring up mad cow & zombie deer. Loved this one.
the spider spider-wasps are the most disturbing ones imo
Yeah, those poor spiders.
Another trauma which I will have for a month,
but one I will forever be able to torment the people I hate with.
Thanks Blooms👍
Just remember there's parasites that you can inject into the people you don't like
Love it. SP is what brought me here, but your weird fears are what keep me coming back. Lol.
Who else finds the disco snail terrifying? I had to watch a video about it in 4th grade and I’ve been scared of it ever since.
Terrifies me too, it's so unnatural
@elise2892 They freak me out I can't even look at them without feeling squeamish.
@@sporeham1674 Have you seen that anime show with giant insects? a guy gets infected with the zombie snail parasites and runs outside so a giant bird can eat him!
They gross me out so much it’s not even funny.😖
They give me the ick, they're gross
Being reminded of The Last Of Us-tier parasites right before I go to bed is not how I planned on ending the day but here we are🤷🏿♂️
The last of us fungus is literally based of the cordyceps fungus.
Most of these can’t infect humans
I love your South Park videos, but I feel like you could eventually do some EmpLemon style video essays. I'm super stoked for the future of your channel!
EXTREMELY intriguing video! Love to see such unique variety, you make awesome content all the way around! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Blooms I know these vids aren't as popular but please keep making them. Your commentary is so good!
Fun fact, YOU can also be infected with the last stage of the liver fluke.
But this is a very, very rare infection in humans, because we are not the primary target. If you are one of the unlucky few, who catch it and will get sick with it, you may experience change in your bathroom habits (everything from dysenteria, bloody stools up onto constipation), nausea, bloating in the early stages to jaundice, gallstone like symptomes, hepetatis and pankreatits and even akute liver death.
BUT, and i will stress this, THIS IS RARE! If you want to worry about parasites, worry about bedbugs, oxyuriasis and headlice. These are the most commen in humans.
I thought the only thing you cared about was South Park!!! You don’t just rewatch the show all day everyday??? Smh smh
Loved the video, you have a very nice and watchable style. Im glad you expanded your topics beyond southpark! ❤
I love your South Park videos, but damn, you can pick any topic and make it interesting to watch. I like this form of content and you should keep it up!
You just opened my mind. Wow. You really are unique, Bloom. Love South Park, and you research so well and love how you deliver these discoveries. Wow. You really are someone special. Keep making anything and I’ll watch.
You had me scared with the toxo rant, but the mention of decreased fear was a good indicator that I’m fine, I am extremely likely to avoid risks
Great content! Love you exploring different topics !
I loved the tsunami one! This was great too, looking forward to the next topic you may have :)
i love your south park content but i also hope this type of content sticks around. great job
Dang, I'm very glad to not be controlled by one of these things
Hopefully.
I like seeing you talk about things you find interesting! Nice vid
Love your South Park videos but always nice change of pace. Love it!
Love this! Hope you do carnivorous plants next
This is already the best video I’ve seen all month, you should make more of these videos
When I was 8 I read a book from the school library about these sorts of parasites. It scared the hell out of me, cuz I thought humans could catch them as well. I’m sure the book said they couldn’t, but you know how kids are. If you were to ask me at that age what my worst fear was, it would be liver flukes. Everyone thought I was nuts.
Please dont be affected by low view counts. I love this variety content and how you explain it.
amazing video! I only knew about the cordyceps one. had no idea about the other parasites. last one is really scary!
Bloom keeps giving me things to be scared about
This guy is so underrated omg.. he’s funny, informative and his flower character is awesome.
I don't necessarily think broadening out your content will be immediately great for growth, but I think you're good enough at this that it's entirely worth the risk and could pay off super well in the end. I'm very much looking forward to your brand properly changing from South Park guy to Blooms :)
This is a super interesting video that I didn't know was from you. Glad to see you make videos of things you find interesting because honestly, you present this info in a way that captures my adhd self and I absolutely learned something with this one.
Im down to see any content from this guy. Allways a joy.
yessssss i love learning about stuff like this take me on this journey my guy
We're witnessing a new era of Blooms and I'm all here for it!
Love these man, good stuff
Werewolf ant parasite felt like when you have to complete the most random things for an easter egg in a videogame
Awesome video, the ending segment was really interesting
I think a good name for this series is " Its real, and its kinda terrifying" lmao
Been waiting for the next one of these.
Glad to see another non south park video, last one was super interesting and a nice change of pace from you
I'm listening to this at work and your megatsunami video I made popcorn and put my phone down to watch. Keep making these videos, your south park stuff is excellent but so is this content too.
Amazing video, so interesting, keep at it!
didnt expect a parasite bug video from this channel but i love parasite bugs so :3
Yes the real life Paras and Parasect
I completely forgot their Pokédex entries. But damn, it’s terrifying asf
15:47 actually the cricket can indeed live on after the worm leaves if they can get out of the water
10/10 love these videos keep’em coming
Dude, I know you've been busy with life stuff, but it's time to update the "thanks for 100k" at the end. Haven't you noticed your army has more than doubled?
Please more biology/geology content. Love the South Park but you’re almost better at these types of videos.
dude youre alive I frickin(gben) love your videos
i love these kinds of videos, feels like a diamond in the sea of trash that is youtube
@jamman3921 How poetic :) more like a pearl in a sea of shit lol
Eh Cordyceps, The last thing humanity needs, is a bunch of popcorn looking spiders jumping at you, burrowing into your chest, attaching to your central nervous system, robbing you of your body and memories while keeping you alive!!! But hey, living in a Hive-Mind sounds kinda fun... "We exist together now, two corpses, one grave" :3
Oh man you went where I wanted. There are current studies on the toxo, and skitzaphrinia. By giving people with skitzaphrinia adrenaline shots it become more controllable if I recall. But now I wanna do a study on the parasite and adrenaline.
Last thing. We are an multicellular organism. What if our brain and the nerve system is already a parasite that took control of this meat suit to begin with? Of I recall mushroom and the brain have oddly a similar nutrien ratio and even some mushrooms have the consistency of brains.
Uh
No?
Our brains are not parasites at all. That’s just not a thing. For one thing, human stem cells can turn into any type of human cell, neurons, muscle cells, bone cells, blood cells, whatever. They also all share *exactly* the same components, including the mitochondrial genes, which is flatly impossible if the brain isn’t the same organism with the same ancestry as the body. If that’s not convincing enough, we can also prove that brains aren’t a fungus. Because fungi actually have a wildly different genome from all animals (hence why they’re in a separate kingdom entirely). If the brain was a fungus or plant or protist, it’d be fairly obvious that the genome is so dramatically non-human that it’d be trivial to find, but it’s not, because the nervous system is a system that evolved as part of animals within animals.
Also, yeah no shit we’re a multicellular organism. All animals are multicellular. That’s part of how they became animals in the first place.
It’s an interesting hypothesis, but one lacking any sort of grounding
@@Someone-sq8imIt's a neat "What if" theory, completely unrealistic but would be really cool to read in a story
The liver fluke treatment of ants is the equivalent of stealing someone's car and giving it back to them only after they sign an agreement to pay you a rental fee to drive it
I love the Videos in this series omg keep going pls
Awsome video man 🤟
Hey man, I'm a couple days late to this party, but damn I really enjoyed this video. You've got a real knack for narration and making informative videos. I watch all your south park shit, and will continue to, but I'd love if you kept making these.
What a crazy South Park episode
Love these!
You know what. I fw with these videos heavily
Keep the engagement going! We need more non-south park Blooms!
Surprisingly I actually got through the whole video and learned something new
I love non south park videos youre just a good youtuber through and through
Ah, so cordyceps fungi does hollow out its victims. So the infected wolf spider in the game Grounded having that horrid hollowed out body is... Not too ridiculous.
Anyways yes I have to bring up this game every time the topic arises. I love it, even if it does get a little silly (I mean, really, the fungus doesn't even effect the ants, which irl are the most well known victim of the fungus. But then again the fungus in the game was modified by a scientist so idk maybe that did something)
But yeah. I will be annoying whenever the cordyceps fungus is mentioned. Almost as annoying as the last of us fans when this gets brought up, amirite? Idk
This was a good one!
For some reason the disco snail tail was really sad for me and i have no idea why. As a person who’s here for the south park stuff i like when you dont do just south park related stuf
You really should be thankful for the common house spiders.
This is an awesome video.
If your up to it a video about the largest recorded tornadoes would be super interesting if that’s something you’d want to do 😊.
Also keep up the great work Bloons.
this was a great video
You should talk about prions and how terrifying they are
The bedsheet entanglement/cheese consumption graph 😂
here for the nature videos, what a real man, i also enjoy south park AND nature :D
The transmission joke was great
Great video
14:10 That puts a whole new meaning to the term "bluepilled".
The disco snail gives me shivers... Holy shitt
I love these videos
There was a Netflix show I was OBSESSED with as a child about creepy nature stuff like this! xD
If you made a whole Channel just off of the informational science stuff I would watch all of it
Not sure why you specifically mention the "golden orbweaver". It pretty much applies to all the orb-weavers and the video footage shows an orchard-orb weaver, a black and yellow garden spider and a couple of other orb-weavers that aren't golden orbweavers.
Sadly we don't have plants powerful enough to shoot peas at them.
Come on,scientists,make pvz real,dammint.
Naturalist here. Fun fact: Ophiocordyceps isn't restricted to the tropics. We've got a species parasitizing crickets here in the southern US, and let me tell you, those guys look metal as HELL. Picture a cricket taken over by thorns and fused to a leaf. We probably have others around, too, but that's the only one I've got personal experience with. :)
