This is 70 miles north of Wrightwood where the trail exits the San Gabriels. So that means there’s 100 miles of deep snow from Cajon Pass to Acton. Further south, San Gorgonio is closed and San Jacinto has even more snow. No one should be thru hiking yet unless you skip hundreds of miles of the mountain areas. And the Sierra will be impassable for months anyway.

Nope…nobody will listen. They all just keep saying they’ll be carrying their InReach so they’re safe. Which means they know they shouldn’t do it but the second they get into trouble they’re gonna push their buttons and expect people to come risk their lives to save them.
They can’t grasp the meaning of the word no and their RUclips channels are worth dying for.

Idyllwild before San Jacinto peak area is going to be full of hikers soon who started too early and get stuck waiting out the snow

@@Johnjds they’re gonna be waiting until summer 2024

@@kelliesharpe1067 😂😂😂 seriously though, going to be a long time until the Sierra is passable. Thru hike window may not be possible this year right?

@@Johnjds no it’s not…not even if you’re SOBO. But they’re all doing it anyway. And they’re all saying “oh don’t worry, I’m carrying my InReach to call for help if something happens.”
It’s so wrong to hike it on a year that’s unprecedented as far as snow in concerned..when there’s not even another year to compare it too…and then expect people to come risk dying to save you when you’re somewhere you were told was just too dangerous this year to be. It’s just gross the way people can’t seem to think beyond their own wants and needs. And the saddest truth is that if none of them had a way to put their hikes on RUclips, they wouldn’t attempt it at all.

It’s gorgeous seeing these mountains with so much snow. Usually only get a dusting at most that melts fast. Much needed water! 🙌

Is it true that over 200 miles of the pct is close?

    • @Johnjds

The sections over San Jacinto mountains near Idyllwild and San Gorgonio / Bernardino mountains near Big Bear lake were closed after the big snow storms (search and rescue was too busy rescuing people stuck in houses buried in snow). I don’t know what the state of those closures are now. Basically it’s winter weather in Southern California right now, like December / January weather, not spring weather like normal for late March.

Algorithm going deep for me on this one.
Edit: and I like it! Nice video, thanks.
P.S. Name the state somewhere, we're dumb. "California snow" might get you more views.

Are you walking somewhat fast all day long, or is the video speeded up a bit to cover more content?
