It’s a magical predator.

The Dungeoncast as a channel has multiclassed into a D&D youtube channel & podcast,They also took a Liveplay feat
You Yanki's better go back up north ya hear!
Cant, I have an appointment in dixie land in an hour...
The 4E Scales of War adventure path featured Tiamat calling in her favor to get the githyanki to effectively be her foot soldiers in a plot to kill Bahamut. This causes the pact Gith made with Tiamat to be broken, and during the adventure Tyranny of Souls the party must escort Gith's soul from the Nine Hells to Tu'narath to spark a rebellion. The campaign also assumes the events of the 3E adventure called The Lich Queen's Beloved occurred before, meaning Vlaakith has been reduced to an undead spine used by Tiamat's newest puppet-ruler of the githyanki, General Zetch'r'r.
The reason why she becomes a lich is because undeath is one of the best ways to counter Illithid. In becoming undead, the Gith gain not just resistance but immunity to many mind flayer abilities.
Another point of lore, Gith's arrangement with Tiamat is unknown... BUT leads to the creation of a new race of red-dragon/Gith hybrids.
Hey you guys! Loved the episode, but was KIND of disappointed with a lack of depth? If you read Tome of Foes, there’s lots of cool 5e lord in there!!! And when you said there’s no cool monster stat blocks?? The ones in Tome of Foes are CRAZY, high level, super cool!!!!
But I’m not trying to complain!! Huge fan of the show, great episode! :D
I can't wait to make a npc with a grotesque gold growth on their neck!
Dude! You're doing the Gith on my birthday! Awesome.
That awkward moment when Gith don’t have darkvision lol
The PC game Neverwinter Nights 2 has a lot to do with the Githyanki and a silver sword, it's a lot of fun.
I always need to poop when I go to the astral plane
Gith are very similar to 40k Eldar. Craftworlds (githzerai) and raids (githyanki). Anti-psionic race versus chaos/far realm beings.
Predator indeed. The Yautja must slay a Xenomorph in hand to hand combat in order to be seen as an adult. Which of course was taken from the Maasai tribe in Africa who must slay an adult male lion with a spear in order in order to be considered a man.
Also remember, Liches can also come back from being murdered, so if someone betrayed the Lich Queen and somehow managed to kill her she'd come back in a couple of days to a month.
You have to destroy her phlactery
The Inheritance Cycle, the Eragon books, are some of my favorites. Right up there with harry potter. The writing isnt tremendous, mostly because, as you said, the author was a teen when he started them, but i still find them enjoyable to this day and have read the entire series multiple times. So much so that i named a certain Ancient Blue Dragon from STK after Saphira.
I'm curious? How would you use these in a campaign? And how would they react to a small gaggle of idiots
Well, Gith are higher level. And the Githyanki would see outsiders as a threat (unless they are in disguise or make it clear that they are harmless visitors and nothing more). Githzerai are isolated enough that it would be nigh impossible for a group to get to them unless they allowed it.
that yellow eye monster popped right into my mind
I know the yellow monster rancher monster I gotchu ;3
It's Like Americans & Canadians. Historically settlers from Europe but way different way we went about our establishments.
This analogy is Awesome. Great Job!
Harry Potter came out in 1997, Eragon came out in 2006.
Githyanki's my favorite rapper LOL Awww fuck we blew up the planet hahahahaha In a world where you've got everything nothing matters anymore.
I played Monster Rancher too!!!!
heard somewhere that the current vlaakith is the 180th ruler simply given the title of "Vlaakith" that has claimed undeath and ruled for over a thousand years. could be wrong tho
It's like the scene from Austin powers where he has to "evacuate" himself
I thought you guys were going to talk about Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey.
Imagine having to poop for a thousand years
starship troopers
Team Lae'zel represent.
I love monster rancher; mr 2 on steam is the best! the yellow eyeball guy is suezo
Any plans on covering the Kalashtar? I feel like they are gith-adjacent in a way.
We will eventually. Probably after that Eberron book gets an official release.
@@Thedungeoncast Seeing you guys discuss the whole twin mind thing will be fun. I know it confuses me!
I am remembered to Baldur's Gate 2 where you get a silver blade and a bunch of Githyanki are chasing behind you
Man you guys are so unfamiliar with so many movies haha.
I was an Eragon fan, like, 10 years ago
You get a like just because you know what a Suezo is.
I have both books of eragon I don't have a third one.
Suezo!
7:52 haha he said doo-doo
So Githyanki are Gen Z , lol
LORE LORE LOOOOORRREEEE
I came for d&d not naruto
IMAGINATION
Gith seem to have inspired 40k's Eldar.
I know, the Eldar supposed to be "space elves."
Eldar still have similarities to Gith, and fey, though.
Well it's more that the Eldar are inspired by the Elves of Warhammer Fantasy, who were inspired by the typical D&D Elves, in particular the Drow probably played a heavy influence on the Dark Elves with their scheming, slaving, and the women are kinda higher in society despite not being nearly as Matriarchal as the Drow.
@@InquisitorThomas
Definitely can tell that. D&D elves inspired Warhammer elves. Warhammer elves inspired Eldar, of course.
When it comes to the futuristic, space-faring aspects though...some Spelljammer influence rubbed off on 40k, hence Eldar are somewhat elf-gith-esque.
Just talking in hints of commonalities and not full on 100%.
warhammer came out first
@@margar9021
Yes, Warhammer and 40k are both older than Spelljammer.
D&D is older than Warhammer and the Gith are from 1977, 1st edition creations, they predate Warhammer.
So you're correct, or incorrect, depending on what you were trying to say.
It's "Kresh". One word. Like Fresh but with a K. It's where Baby Jesus was also born.
Can't wait till you guys touch on the Kalishtar
They are not humans. They are fusion of ELves and goblins and mayby a bit of humans. They were ment to be the perfect race (for fighting).
Love these Vids
6 armed god corpse is a killer band name
could you guys do gremlins for races of the realms
So, they live inside of a tuna rat?
I wouldn't say Jedi, I would probably say Sith
Tears when the truth of Brom.
Lets go Mets
No they are green
They look green/yellowish to me
Kalach-Cha
Gith have ADHD!
Every time Will says “Due to” five year old me hears “doo doo” 💩
ha ha
I find myself constantly wanting to comment "I love _____" on whatever video I'm watching of yours, but I really love the githyanki and githzerai.
No one is a fan of the Eragon movie. The books are great but whoever made the movie clearly didn’t read the books
at the intro 0:22 ...........................................................................
no......stop. I will donate to your patron if you promise me to never do that again. I felt embarrassed for you and I'll feel embarrassed for anyone else who wants to defend that.
But very thing else awesome work guys, I never get tired of these podcasts you do
