Caity Lotz (Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow) joins us this week and shares her evolution from working as a dancer for Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga to gaining the respect of her cast and crew as a director on Legends. Later in the show Caity sheds light on her opinion of Legends of Tomorrow ending and how the working conditions, writing, and morale on the show improved with time. Caity Lotz talks early problems on Legends of Tomorrow and how the show improved #insideofyou #legends
I’m sure Caity will really miss Legends because that was literally going to school everyday for her. Where you see your friends, hang out for a few hours, and even hang out after school. But once you leave school, or in her case, leave to work on a different show, your separated from the people you once worked with and have gotten used to seeing for so long and working with other people who you hope you have good chemistry with. It sucks cause I really loved Legends and the cast never seemed like co-workers. They truly looked like a family.
Totally agree 💥💥💥
@iamDeano91 wentworth miller and Dominic Purcell worked on flash prior to legend and worked on prison break prior to this is the only shows I can remember see them together so Ik that when they saw each other they was “aye Im working him again”
Caity Lotz for the first time in 9 years will be working on a new show. Between Arrow and Legends that was 9 years on the CW starting as a guest star in 2013. 38 episodes of Arrow, and 109 episodes of Legends. That is a very long time for any actor on TV. Only a few actors make it that far playing one role on the CW since the network began.
Actually I'd say a lot of actors have made it that far playing one role. The difference is that Caity has done it playing a character on shows that caters to a specific minority group of people such as comicbook/superhero fans. But in general a lot of actors make it past those numbers.
@@CarlosHuiskens A lot? it is less than 10% of all actors in today's television market. A show lasts less than 9 years 90% of the time. Currently on ABC one show is older than that, and it is Grey's Anatomy. The Flash is the first CW show that started on that network that has made it that long. So actually, right now, the only actor who started on the CW who has played the same role for 9 years is Caity. Next year the Flash cast that started from the beginning like Grant Gustin will join her.
@@Buc_Stops_Here You shouldn't look purely at Today's market. Also you should take into account that Caity hasn't played Sara Lance as much compared to Grant playing Barry for example.
She was a recurring character on Arrow and Legends never had a full season which makes it a lot easier for her to stay dedicated to the character because he had more free time on her hands.
Grant on the other hand has said that filming full seasons for The Flash keeps him busy almost 9 months each year and has almost 200 episodes under his belt as the character across the entire Arrowverse in less time.
@@CarlosHuiskens Actually, you should look at today's market because it is nothing like the marketplace 20 years ago. Then, plenty of shows lasted that many seasons or came close. For example, the Original Charmed on the WB. It lasted 8 seasons. The new Charmed? It lasted 4 seasons. That is your choice to not say Caity lasted that long because she did not work as much originally since she was a guest star the first two seasons. By that logic, we should not count the 7 seasons on Legends either because it was a "limited series" at 13 episodes compared to Arrow or The Flash which regularly do 20 or more. For that matter, according to your logic, only the cast of the Flash have long term positions on the CW. It is fine if you believe that. I just don't agree.
@@Buc_Stops_Here Whether or not the situation was different 20 years ago is irrelevant. The fact of the matter remains that it isn't unique for an actor to be on a PRIME TIME television show for 9 years or so. It has been done plently of times before even in current times. Also Charmed is a poor example because nobody asked for the reboot and the reboot itself very much disrespected the original property. So it isn't a stretch that the show only lasted 4 seasons.
Also I'm not disrecarding Caity's dedicating I'm just saying that having to play the character not as much as compared to main starts of shows with full lenght seasons made it easier for her to dedicate herself fully to the show.
The achievement in this situation lies in the fact that Legends is a comicbook/superhero sci-fi show which doesn't appeal to the majority of viewers.
Legends deserve a proper ending.
I agree it just needed one final season really
@L_O_W_K_E_Y-G That would be cool. So let blow up whole multiverse again with all "heroes" with it
Legends have to end... like The flash..
I hope it comes full circle back to Rip like they stop him from forming the first team and retcon the whole show. The other shows ignore it anyway.

Caity Lotz is a phenomenal actress from what I seen her in. I really enjoyed watching Legends of Tomorrow there are a handful who criticize it and hate it, but to me I loved every season and wish we could get another season to finish it off.
I miss the Legends. They were the best Arrowverse show of all. The third Season was for me the best Season of all. So cool. So funny.🖖

Caity Lotz was so awesome on DC Legends of Tomorrow.
Its just so nice to see people who actually liked legends instead just seeing it constantly get trashed for the meme. Although some parts ya know aren't the best ill admit but ill love the heartwarming and Camraderie that this show always made me feel :)
I know a lot of people don’t like the more recent seasons of LoT as much as others but personally I loved them. They just went off the walls goofy and were like, “sure, we know this is fucking stupid but we’re gonna do it anyways and have fun with it” and I found that vibe really charming. They stopped taking themselves seriously, which some people didn’t like, but I thought it was awesome :)
Nothing was wrong with the goofyness, and to me, it didn't really look like they took themselves too seriously. But down the line, it just got more and more stupider.

Even though what Caity is saying here is a logical, and simple, premise, it makes me feel like I've underestimated her as an actress. Hopefully, she'll get more roles that let her show all the potential she has. Chances are pretty high The Flight of the Navigator reboot will be pretty good. Great episode, both did a good job sharing your experiences with acting and directing. I was bummed to hear about her experience with Avril. My son and I are fans and I am assuming that because she was young and naive that is why she came off as a snob. I would think she has grown up over the years.
I wish you all good luck in your future jobs and projects. But Legends was such an insanely good and different series, that I doubt another will get me hooked like Legends Of Tomorrow did.
I'm gonna miss legends of tomorrow especially Sarah Lance she's always been my favorite since her arrow days she's so talented and very pretty 😍
I really hope that Legends gets another season so that Sara Lance can get a proper ending to long and crazy journey in the Arrowverse. Other than that, I would love to see Caity in other projects; like action movies.
Ooo, I feel for Caity on this one. I think one of the worst mistakes we do as actors is study Sanford Meisner, (who wrote his books and crafted his teaching style around theater), and then try applying it to TV and Film. The principles are sound, but because they're different mediums, you're stopping and starting way more often, there are technical concerns like the one Caity mentioned in the video, and in TV and Film, you don't really do a lot of acting during the day, and when that scene is done, you're probably never doing it again. In fact on most sets, most of your time is spent waiting to do you acting. Meisner is built around heading onto stage and performing for two straight hours, the same show every night, possibly for weeks or months. I think theater training makes for better actors, (or more skilled individuals in the art of acting), but TV and Film requires a different set of skills on how to approach performing material and working with other actors because you have cameras involved that only include whatever is in its frame.
As a working songwriter and performer all I can say is that you either have talent or you don't. Sure it must be honed and focused, but that's it. Talent is not exclusive to success, as I have known many less talented people that are more successful. They possess ambition and drive above talent, and that usually wins the day. Don't get caught up in methods and practices sold by others when in truth - if you got a straight answer from them - they really don't know why they're "good" and will admit no amount of study can account for "it". Mediocrity loves references.
legends got wacky to the point where it didn’t care and it found it’s footing. It was weird but it knew it was weird and it became my favorite CW show, she was a day one. Too bad the show got canceled without a proper sendoff :(

"How the show improved"? Where? The show went to s**t. It became too over the top silly and ridiculous. The first 2 seasons were the best.
That show had great potential but never met my expectations
Hi, (not in the least trying to be rude)
LoT was a great show that sprouted from shaky beginnings. Yes it has its ups and downs and people berate the small details which are outweighed by the delight and story it gives. It was cancelled too soon for too stupid of a reason. I hope the CW and other networks and platforms realize if they keep going like this, TV's will be obsolete and only few shows will exist that people actually watch.
Now I know there are shows which I don't like and others do but if the networks keep sacking "The good ones" for stupid and pointless reasons then they will ultimately lose their uphill battles in giving us a reason to watch anymore.
I'm not saying we as people are entitled but the networks only continue based on views and ratings, that's why shows that do well are often written well with little to no error. Not every show is perfect but a chance is what they need to be the best they can be. Legends will always be, in mine and many others opinion, one of "the good ones". It had more than enough followers and ratings to show it was getting to their proper ending and a poor judgement was made. I hope the CW and other networks don't continue down the trends of tanking good shows.
Just my thoughts on this as a whole, please don't hate me for it. Just voicing my opinion. Have a good day everyone.

I agree not everyone likes LGBT representations, but representation in this show wasn't really painful unlike Batwoman, Arrow, Flash and Supergirl had.
Legends was good for the first two seasons, and it was because on focused on the characters and story. Yes it was hard, but people were tuning in to see their favorite characters, mostly. While the latest seasons, the one they all say are better, lost the characters and stories and focused on silly campiness and parody. I hate what they did with Sara's character in the end, happy or not, they took away her human part and superhero part, and made her one dimensional alien clone wifey.
Welcome to reality and life lol.....we all start out as superheroes and then become 2 dimensional husbies and wifies.
I think 3 was the best season, but I agree with the rest. Athough, I'll admit, even in s4+, when the show was bad imo, and I didn't like what they were doing with Sara, I still enjoyed it. It wasn't good or well written, but it was a fun guilty pleasure type of show for me.
it was good for the first 4 1/2 seasons!
@@roboticeye Heroes ? Were Sara Lance ever a hero ?
Shame the legend of tomorrow shows writing went downhill around season 4 or 5ish
Show never was good. But was funny at least after Season 3
@@vecnahenrycreel1300 it was fine till they started doing the wierd woke writing
@@bigbrisk8423 It was woke g*rb*ge from very beginning.
zSara was nothing interesting besides being ruthless Batman cosplay who was only obsessed with kissing lesbiest lesbians in world and to have sex of as many lesbians as possible. Jax always was just a victim of racism from beginning in shows. Generally Jax is super soldier tier without powers despite he has sinew. I guess this is supposed to be empowerment of people with disorders right ? Like making obese super hero just to inspire obese people who take diabetes. Sara is tiny 90 pound fragile woman and can kick butts of 280 pund 8 feet males or take down with hand to hand gods like Reverse flash or Supergirl. Let not forget Hawkgirl was race swapped for representation just like Jefferson who was not even in comics any firestorm. So black firestorm huuh after white firestorm ? Let not mention political crap in Kasnia with Vandal Savage or Per Degaton.
So as i said show was woke sh*t from beginning. At least Season 3-7 were portraying that wokeness in goofy way and funny it was enertaining i could forget about reality by laughing.
I need another season for closure
The show went down after they got rid of original cast left
Because OG cast was trash ? Good ridance, current cast was at least funny and likeable
@@vecnahenrycreel1300 agreed they just didn’t fit to get
After like season 2&3 the show was trash. I couldn’t even keep up with it anymore. All the woke stuff in the show and making ordinary people super heroes was annoying and I gave up on it
