先週20日とは、景色が一変した信越本線にて。
マイカーにチェーンを巻いてのろのろ運転で追っかけ。
自分には雨合羽、カメラにはサランラップで
防寒はもとより水濡れ対策して撮影。

Amazing video! I watched with great interest! Firstly, I am surprised at the amount of snow that you fall. And secondly, I really liked this snowplow DD14. We also have snowblowers, but they are not autonomous. For their movement requires a separate locomotive. You did a great job, Thanks!
Nice equipment! I like that it combines elements of a Jordan Spreader with a blower & it clears more than just it's width. Not sure if that option would work too well in wet or heavy snow or at high speed though. I like that it's independent of the overhead wire because that could go out due to weather.

明日（２月１日）１０時３０分頃～１５時００分頃まで、
新井～妙高高原駅間の一部列車が運休となります。
新井～直江津駅間及び妙高高原～長野駅間は折り返し運転となります。

That's quite the snow cleaning apparatus. This is quite differnent than a punch plow that we see on the Canadian praries.

First sensible blower I've seen on a train. Wondering how the blower is powered? Did I see a driveshaft coming out of the front of the locomotive - a "power take-off" mechanism?
Its diesel-hydraulic, therefore no shaft, but tubes, oil and something like torque converters..... ;)
A DD14 has 2 diesel engines, one can be used for propulsion, the other for the rotary. If there is another locomotive or, like in this case, another DD14, the power of the leading DD14 two engines can be combined for turning the rotary, the second locomotive or DD14 delivers the needed propulsion.
