Excellent positioning & videography! Kudos too, because you didn't zoom in & out, in & out, over &over, but basically stuck to a moderate level of zoom plus some shorter wide-angle & highly zoomed segments. Thanks for sharing this video!
solgood29 Outstanding video! I completely agree with blueznjazz123's comments. And in addition to your excellent videography skills that he already mentioned, I'd like to add my thanks and appreciation for the fact that you chose to let the natural sound of the tornado speak for itself as documentation of an historic event, rather than detract from it with unnecessary background chatter, as so often is the case with both amateur and professional storm chasing videos. I grew up near Marengo and I am very familiar with Rochelle and the other areas that were hit by the April 9th tornadoes, which makes this excellent video of the Rochelle tornado especially important to me. I'm adding it to my favorites. Thank you for sharing this on RUclips.
What camera/camcorder did you use for this footage, might I ask? You had a great vantage point; really captured that crazy forward motion of that tornado!
This view looks like you're in Rochelle IL on highway 38 pointing toward Ashton IL as the tornado goes around to the north side of Rochelle, and the video at 2:18 that's the Rochelle water tower showing above the trees.
+Landon Brock Suction Vortices are part of multiple-vortex tornadoes. I saw them in videos of the El Reno tornado, the Moore EF5, Jarrell, Tuscaloosa/Birmingham, and especially Joplin. A classic case would be the 1965 Palm Sunday Outbreak double tornado of Dunlap, Indiana and the Xenia, Ohio F5 of the 1974 Super Outbreak.
Yeah this video is from farther away than the other vids of this tornado that I've watched. This video shows how fast that monster was moving. Some of the vids from up close make it look like it's barely moving. Big and fast =dangerous combination for a tornado 😮
So nice and refreshing to watch a tornado video where the tornado is the only one that does all of the talking...

Good observation. You are correct.
The suction vortices almost make this thing look multi vortex.
Landon Brock It was very multi vortex.

Why is the Fairdale tornado in this video moving twice as fast as all the Fairdale tornadoes in other videos? HMMM.

Is the whistling sound a siren or the actual tornado? Freaky!
It's the local storm siren.
Should've been rated EF5
I LIVE DER OMG
This is nothing compare to what's to come in the future.
Besides that, tornadoes are the least we'll have to worry about.
