1 -) Identify objects around you in English
2 -) Repeat phrases you hear native speakers use
3 -) Make a situation where you can't escape into your native language
4 -) Watch TV and movies in your target language without subtitles
    5 -) Don't bring a dictionary to your lesson
6 -) Train responses to common questions
7 -) Study with materials that don't provide a translation
8 -) Study phrases in addition to single vocabulary
9 -) Do your daily activities in English(where possible)
    10 -) Use a learner's dictionary for new words

Read and write should be the last step to learn. Listen and speak are the first step to learn. Believe me, doesn’t matter how good you are at writing and reading if you can’t understand a frase the a native is saying or either can’t have a conversation.

After college I have had limited practice with people at work.I’ve been using Rosetta Stone for the last three years, and learning quite a bit. Learning vocabulary is my weak spot. The 10 steps she mentioned work for me also! Not just for people learning English. Thank you.

    • @lilisbubble2285
      @lilisbubble2285 3 года назад +4

They do have some vocabulary lessons, if you search you will find them easily. You can also adopt a learning habit, what I mean by that is that you write down every new word you learn and you write:
      1- the definition
2- the sentence it comes from (understand the context)
      3- synonyms
By doing this you’ll understand the meaning and you will know in which context to use it !

Wow, I'm a English learner from Japan. I'm really glad to know you've learned Japanese, and put yourself into the environment you can't escape your target language. And so do I in my daily life recently. Actually I found a cafe in my neighborhood run by a foreign couple and we have to speak English there even if a conversation partner happens to be Japanese. It's an unwritten rule there. I go there a few times a week in my lunch time. I think it has improved my English skills drastically, and I already get used to the place and I can mistake speaking English and feel free to ask them about what I can't speak properly. I do appreciate what you've filmed in this video. Thanks!

I try some years to learn English but I have a big problem understanding a single word from a movie so I have watched most with subtitles in English. Reading easy books is possible due to the contexts. To understand You is a little easier because You take common vocabulary and You speak very clear. My sheet for the supermarket, I write in English. But always miss, I some words. Today for example curd and yogurt. I am afraid that I forget more words than I can learn.
It sounds so easy what You saying, but it is complicated for me.
I wish you furthermore much success and a good life. You are a great teacher and an incredibly good-looking woman, if I may say that.

Hi Alisha, my English is terrible, although I can understand you perfectly, I still get lost in some words that I haven't learned the meaning, I've already realized that if I give myself totally to what you're saying without trying to translate in my mind, I can make everything stay more orderly, of course, but when I try to translate I get lost and confused, but hearing you speak is one thing, your voice is clean, clear, even though you speak fast, it's different when I'm on the streets listening to people, having direct contact, they seem to just speak words that are not in my vocabulary, it's the same in movies, they speak even faster, this is terrible 😞....NOTE: I used a translator to write you

thank´s for your videos, are just awesome, I Understand perfectly what you are saying but it´s a little difficult to me to talk fluently in some cases, if an english native speaker wants to practice, we could exchange language experience. i'm a spanish native speaker, i have been practicing grammar every day and i consider myself a high level student at the moment.

I can understand clearly all these words you say, but I don't think that I can repeat exactly. My accent is quite weird though I try to speak as much as I can

mimic her! That sounds weird, but it´s the only way to improve pronunciation.

Thank you 10 tips for practicing looking at the environment around you in your own language or your mother tongue,There are many benefits. However, I have a question: during your explaining the 10 points in this video, you continued to speak without interruption or filler which I try to follow every word; Even if I could follow every word you say, But I'm so tired I can't breathe while I try to follow you, I really couldn't breath and made me feel very dizzy. for editing How to be able to catch my breath while we speak so fast as the teacher explains? Because I can't breath and really dizzy. Please tell me.
Thank you very much for your kind.
My name is Kast from Bangkok, Thailand
