- Tazin Lake Lodge is known for world-record lake trout and pike over 50". Bret Amundson has been going there since 2016 to film and has created the popular RUclips show, "Tazin TV". In 2022, Dan Amundson came along and caught his personal best lake trout: a 47" giant!
This video shows his big catch and also shows you some of what it's like to run a camp in Saskatchewan's remote northern wilderness.

Wow, lake trout is not something Im familiar with. Had no idea their bellies got Blue Cat Big 😳. Whats more fun to catch, Pike, Muskie, or Lake Trout?
Man, thats a tough one! Since I started going to Tazin in 2016 I've become a big fan of huge lakers. And huge pike, lol. Muskies are fun of course and the challenge is what makes them fun...and the most frustrating. Honestly, I'd have to say lake trout because even the small ones are fun to catch and they can be a bit easier to hook into, at least in northern Canada.

Great video guys! I noticed you were using an okuma glt classic pro great rods. We love the pyramid grip and soft tip to absorb head shakes. I've mentioned before about trying wire for deep trolling. Works great here in montana. With a 4ounce bannana weight I can get to 160 feet with 450 ft of line out. We use a 25 mono leader about 5 feet long. Could be worth a try!
