That’s weird, me and Reznov cleared the reichstag in about 20 minutes...
hmmm 20 hours for me, woke up the wife it did.
On easy or normal, not on veteran.
you clearly never tried veteran mode
What game is it?
Call of duty world at war
Inside the Reichstag theres still a huge wall with writings by russian soldiers from 1945 ("Boris was here",...).
Crazy to think that’s where the Russians ended up after literally being pinned in their own capitol a few years earlier.
being a citizen of berlin and knowing the distance from the zoo to the Reichstag just makes me realize the scale of war
unimaginable that they actually had fire support from that far away
I was in Berlin last weekend and stood in front of this building. To actually stand where the Germans and Russians fought so hard to defend or attack this building is just amazing. WoW!!
Soviet Casualties listed at 154 killed
Press X to doubt
X
soviet assault was executed by the elite troops with years of battle experience through the entire war there is no much doubts about battle losses
154 offenders killed in two days while having a crushing ratio against the enemy? I dunno, maybe. Did they manipulate figures usually? Sure. In this case? I don't know.
Gary Mulverine_ by one estimate, Russia's casualty on taking Berlin @ 500K killed. It is not easy to defeat Germany. One would have to pay with a lot of blood.
@@eal8645 not easy but it can be done as we had see
General, I see our flag atop the Reichstag, is the building ours?
*Well yes, but actually no.*
That's it I'm going to help you get to 200 likes
I shudder to think how many camera men must've been killed along side casualties for footage.
びんびんごはんケーキー The majority of this was staged afterwards
So much death and destruction. Totally unbelievable
Mitchell All we can do is to try our best to make sure something this big and horrible doesn’t happen again
Germans never learn....
Death and destruction - is a anglo-american carpet bombing of Dresden, which destroyed the city to the ground and burned alive dozens, if not hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, as well as the American atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the only atomic bombing in human history. They were deliberate acts of intimidation. The capture of Berlin was as accurate as possible, with minimal loss of life and subsequent assistance from the Soviet Union in its restoration. In fact, Russian soldiers with their lives to protect the lives of German civilians, while perfectly fulfilling the combat task.
Eternal glory to the Russian Soldier - liberator!
@@monopalle5768 Germany have been trying to make up for their bad history by bringing in a a bunch of people with a hateful ideology called Islam. This is only going to bite them in the ass in a few years and probably spark a civil war but hey, at least they're not racist right?
@@monopalle5768 who started WW1?
Rare photos, clear maps, simple but detailed story. Excellent video!!!
Decent effort indeed
6:25 camera turned to left and immediately cuts back to right - you can see man falling after getting shot on the left.
When the Reichstag was renovated, it was by design that the building bear its scars from the war, to preserve its history. In fact, the graffiti was made to remain except in cases where it was too derogatory.
This dude has better content than most of the bigger history channels 👍🏻
He sure does. They are also not one sided .
7:02 Dog is like “I’m out of here”
*"Ah, Mohnke"*
The architect of the "Reichstag" came from a small town called Oppenheim/Germany. I live there.
“By using a mortar horizontally the Soviets broke through a brick wall and flooded the interior”-damn, talk about dedication
That is actually a legit urban warfare tactic they learned from Stalingard. Even the US Army's 1944 manual in urban warfare suggest using any artillery to bust through walls to bypass crossing the streets...
You wonder what the reaction of fellow troops was when that idea was first suggested in the heat of battle?
Ohlourdes Padua Lol, Stalingrad? They have used explosives in war to breech since explosives existed. Humans have been doing this long before Stalingrad
3:43 **COD: World At War Flashbacks intensifies**
In Call of Duty, World at War, on veteran, I died about 100 times just trying to get across the bridge. The battle inside to get up to the roof was impossible, but we did it to cement a complete game with all achievements done.
Am I the only one who sees the irony that some of the last Defenders of the Third Reich actually Norwegian in French
Being inside that building during the Soviet bombardment must have been hell .
7:08 It's Darth Vader!
The German Shepherd just trotting along at the 7:01 mark. Like, "Don't mind me, just passing through..."😂😂
Maybe he was heading to Argentina?
It's funny how the famous photo of the soviet flag on the Reichstag was technically the world's first WW2 reenactment
i am simple man, i see Mark Felton Productions, i click.
same here, found his channel not too long ago and have watched almost everything now haha
I am a simple man, I see a funny comment, I post the same comment on every video.
Thumbs up if you are watching this on RUclips.
Thumbs up if you are watching this in the 21st century.
Thumbs up if you live on planet Earth.

But for real, I found this channel yesterday. I’ve always been super interested in this battle ever since CoD:WaW. As of today, this is one of the best subs I’ve made.
i am simple man, i see no effort comment, i dislike
Best history channel on any media for ww2 accuracy. Tired of all embellishments everywhere. Great videos with facts, backed up by data and dates.
Absolutely.
I agree! Just beauty 🍺
The first ever history-channel, from which I've learned something new. In addition, the topics vary and are not boring. Minus censorship, but it is part of RUclips.
A shame here in the U.S., the history of WWII is merely “touched on” in a passive manner in schools. I was born in 1963 and when I talk with younger people about great conflicts they are shocked hearing the death and destruction that occurred. Again, shameful.
No one:

Alright sure i have time to spare...
No one said nothing? So, everyone said something?

You really packed a LOT into 10 minutes with this one!
Mark you really are unbelievable. I’m still trying to watch all of your videos but here you are uploading! Thank you for letting me learn so much about history that’s unfortunately being drowned out.
Oh yeah yeah
Damn the Maximillian army is out in these far reaches, respect to you fine individuals lmao.
Preach, Mark is a great historian.
watch Battlefield series, battle of berlin
I was there at the Reichstag last summer in June! It's a remarkable building with so much history. And as Mark said at the end of the video, today you can still see some damage in the building from the fighting that occurred during the battle for the Reichstag. If possible I recommend everyone to go and see the Reichstag for yourself! It truly is a remarkable building.
Obvious question arises: why didn't Germans blow up Moltke Bridge (?)
Mark, as a student of WWII, I can testify this is staggeringly good content which you've consistently been producing for a long time now. Keep it up and thanks.
I cannot even imagine what all participants, no matter the side they were on, felt during that time.
THAT'S easy. Everyone knew that the end was near, and that the war would soon be over; they ALL hoped that they survived.
David Smith I am sure not all back then felt what is so prevalent today in this generation, the narcissistic and self centered way of life.
House of History , That is a very good and relevant observation . Any combatants at this point and this place would have to be shell shocked beyond comprehension. . It amazes me that for the most part there were more non Germans than Germans making this hopeless stand . Many Waffen SS units that were Frenchmen , Norwegian, Danes etc knew that they probably would not make it . I cannot imagine that ANY ideology would be so strong , it boggles the mind these were people of modern Western Civilization yet they were willing to kill and die for one man . The fanatical SS swore a loyalty not to the Father land but Adolf Hitler. These are conversations that are no longer made , it is good we can have one here !
@@oceanhome2023 The vast majority of the European Waffen-SS men were fighting to repel Bolshevism and communism, not fighting "for one man." The Waffen-SS was seen as the first truly pan-European elite fighting force that united all peoples of Europe, not as some wacky Hitler-obsessed group of goose-steppers. Sure, their oath was to Hitler and the German military under his command, but as Dr. Robert Citino would say, "there's an oath, and there's an oath."
@@DavidSmith-ss1cg no its not that easy. None of us can know how those men felt. None of us have ever been in such a position.
Man I sure do remember this mission in waw personally my favorite mission
Ah yes, my favorite call of duty game.. my favorite mission was their land their blood personally
The amount of grenades they throw on veteran difficulty was insane. Great mission
I hated being a dirty commie though.
the tank mission and the ReichStag mission were my favorite
The amount that went on inside those walls at the final hours....How could someone work there and not think about that constantly.
Man I love this channel
Mark, your channel is perhaps the best one out there regarding military and related historical events. Love how you make every effort to give us great content. Thank you for such lovely interesting and informative documentaries.
It's been said before, and I'll say it again; Mark Felton has the best footage of ww2 I've ever seen.
I mean, I think most here have probably seen more documentaries about ww2 than we can remember, but I still learn things and see new footage from Mark. It's amazing.
As always great video Mark. Have you ever consider making longer videos also?
love your channel man you sure can teach.
yeah man.hes good.
Hypothetical speaking, today in 2019 there are country's that will lose against a 1943 German invasion.
For years I've watched all sorts of documentaries on the fall of Berlin but none went into the depth you did on this critical portion on the battle. Thank you!
THANK You for such a detailed story !
My both grandfathers came ALIVE from such bloody Globe Clash !
One was artillery mayor, other-lorry driver.
SALUTE from Moscow !
man i wished they had go pros back then
7:01 Poor Blondie making a run for it...
Imagine the group of men waving the red banner over the reichstag. Must've felt badass.
The world-famous photo of them holding the flag has been doctored, in the original the guy wore three or four watches on his wrists. Go figure.
In the middle of the night with firefights still raging below you and artillery shells raining all about.
I hope they had a shot of vodka right then and there.
It did especially on veteran mode
Another brilliant video, thanks again. I remember when I first visited the Reichstag back in 2001. From what I understand, they deliberately left some of the battle damage and Soviet graffiti visible, especially in the main chamber, to remind politicians of the consequences of war.
I only recently discovered your channel. It is magnificent, thank you, Mark. They knew how to build in those days, built to last not fall apart after a year or two like today.
Great video, also my great grandfather was actually one of the men of the 9th Fallschirmjäger / Paratrooper Divisionand told me once they ran out the back of the Reichstag as the russians entered the front. He escaped out of berlin (probably together with the men of the 9th and 12th Division under Wenck)
JulienThomy that’s incredible i hope you saved those stories
Inside, in the visitor's stairway, they conserved some of the graffiti the russian soldiers carved/wrote on the walls.
Soviet did the best come back in history from loosing Kiev, sieging Leningrad and Moscow utskirt to Berlin
I like how when they renovated the Reichstag in the 1990's they left the Soviet graffiti there as a reminder of the past.
One of my favourite buildings in Berlin! Thank you for doing a video on this :)
Unfortunately it has an upside bowl for a roof nowadays modern architecture is a joke.

Thank you very much Mark Felton for your excellent research and production. All of us that love history appreciate your fine and precise presentation of detail.
Thanks for all your hard work Mark, great content, and great productions! Please keep doing what you do and I'll keep supporting your work.
I lived in West Berlin in 1985. I recall walking around this area many times, comparing the current area to old photos I had from books. Amazing history there. Thanks for the video footage.
Another amazing video. I have no idea where you find all of these historical gems, but a huge thank you for sharing them with us. Please keep up the good work
Mark, it is amazing that you produce these vids. It is so, so important that the average person out there understand history and what actually happened, good, bad or ugly. Well done mate.....
Having actually being there at the reichtstag makes this 100x more interesting
Damn War Thunder is accurate. Comparing their map of the Reichstag
‘Some of its former glory’? Are you kidding me... Norman Fosters great remodelling is absolutely sensational and far surpasses any previous incarnations by a country mile. It’s astounding.
One of my favorite channels. Interesting narrative and great details. Keep it up my man!
This was utterly fascinating to see, my mum is 94 and was in the WRAF and this just adds to all the history and really brings that era to life! Thank you so much! I am going to watch it again! Just watched it and to see it almost now, is such a transformation from what it had become back then! Wow!!

this is really one of the best history channels on youtube, great upload
There are still Russian graffiti from the end of the war in the Reichstag. And it was not quite a ruin until the reunification of Germany. It was used as museum and conference hall.
0:46 damn War Thunder got that map down perfectly...

Battle of Berlin is by far one of my favorite battles to study, love the videos keep them coming!!!!
One of the bloodiest as well...
your videos are wonderfully put together. No filler and as long as they need to be.
Another great video. The archive footage you use is always great quality and really inspiring - especially as a modeller.
We all heard, saw and read about the Battle of Berlin. But you, Mark allowed all of us here to discover the Battle of the Reichstag. Thank you so much for the information Mark. Keep going my friend ;) :) !
So excited when I saw the notification of this video, I always wanted to know about this scenario, had a lot of doubts about it, not anymore. Great video, great work, as always!
I didn't know there were French SS troops. Could you do a video on them?
You know that you've really lost the war when your main artillery is flak guns.
Another fantastic, informative and concise film. Have you done one on the Battle of Seelow Heights? If not I’d love to see one. Keep up the great work!
The film quality on these is amazing. You earned yourself a sub
I heard a story that the original picture of the raising of the hammer and sycle flag had to be touched up, the red soldiers had a couple watches on their wrists and the authorities did not want to portray their troops as looters and pillagers
Rudi TheDog it's true.
Love the backstory and videos Mark. Definitely 1 of the best and most informative channels regarding WWII. Appreciate all your research and knowledge your passing on.

I actually went there a few days ago it's a beautiful building
Very informative, as always. Thanks!
Another excellently researched video, thanks! Please do a video on the *Tsar Bomba!* It really also deserves a Hollywood film when you think about it the incredible facts....
You know Hollywood is all about the facts
It is quite remarkable how much of this battle can still be seen in Berlin.
Bro I thought this was just an upload of a documentary clip until I read the comments. You have great quality
Seems to me highly unlikely soviets only lost 150 men taking that building. Fighting inside was savage. God can you imagine standing atop that thing at night in the darkness.. last echos of a long running war going on around you Having just fought your way to the top? Must have been indescribable.
Yea theres no way probably soviet figures. Probably like 5-8 times that much.
Why? Soviets had experienced and well motivated veterans, who had plenty of explosives, amunition, firethrowers and tanks.
Germans were lacking amunition, malnourished and exhausted.
It is very realistic that German losses were generally higher than Soviet in last stages of war
Do you think they lost more than what is given ?
“And we’re back”
That intro music made me think I clicked on a Preston Jacobs video
Awesome history production. Thank you!
Dr Felton, your work is a joy to watch.
By far the best history channel on YT. Superlatives fail me!

Amazing story. There's great interviews with some of the Russian soldiers that actually took part in the storming and flag raising (including a lady who was one of the first into the building) in the World at War.
