TL;DR this song is the only reason I played Platinum to the end. I've always hated pokemon games because slogging through ten squillion dialog boxes is hardly an engaging experience. I don't have a powerful magic spell or legendary sword, I have an A button. That's fucking wack and garbage and lame and miserable. Anyways, one day I realized I finally owned a phone that could potentially be powerful enough to emulate DS or maybe 3DS. After some research I settled on Platinum. The last 3rd/enhanced game of its generation Gamefreak would ever release. I slogged through the miserable turn based dialog box simulator and when I hit the first gym, oh baby. This banger kicks in and I'm hooked. I continued subjecting myself to the miserable quagmire of A button mashing only, ONLY because of this fucking song. Finally in hindsight Gardenia, Fantina, and Cynthia (esp. her theme) added to the worth of the suffering.
You know, this theme might be hands down one of if not the most intimidating song in all of Pokémon. There’s just something about the intense base line and the suspense the trumpet offers that makes this theme so stressful yet so fucking epic. Not to mention that DPPT is a really hard game, so you have reason to be scared when the gym leaders are fucking jacked, yet determined to see yourself through to victory.
I don't see how this team would be intimidating. Besides and not trying to be rude dppt isn't hard, I mean if you picked Chimchar you gonna have pain days with Roark if Machop weren't around, gotta agree Fantima gave me a bit of trouble. And you have no reason to be scared unless you are underleveled.
Ghetsis theme is just a drum beat (ft. Dennis) hardly a song. It's just a rhythm, nothing more. Gen 5 music slaps, but his theme is about as good of a song as bug types are powerful.
I can remeber all of them exept byron for some reason. All i remeber about byron was that I swept his team with infernape. Fantinas mismagius fucked my team up a bit and I remeber roarks cranidos getting some really assholeish criticals with its rapidos. Other than that most where challenging but roark and fantina stood out the most for me.
Not to insult any competitive guys here, but I never use any status condition moves in any Pokemon game. I just go straight for offense. (But sometimes I do use Toxic as a last resort)

This music always made me feel like the battle is life or death and that gym leaders are extreamly dangerous, even if they are smiling 😅 but I love this music is my favourite of all the generations

Fun fact, Sinnoh was the first region with an equal Gender ratio of male and female gym leaders, with 4 male and 4 female. Kalos is the only other region with an equal ratio (Unless you count the Kahunas in Alola). All the other regions have more male than female gym leaders, with the most imbalanced being Unova, which has 7 male gym leaders (if you count Cilan, Chilli and Cress separately) to only 4 female. Edit: There is also an equal ratio in the Kanto gyms in HGSS Edit 2: Scarlet and Violet also has an equal gender ratio of gym leaders (yes, believe it or not, Grusha is a guy).
The whole theme is great but i love the variation of the main chorus at 0:57. As a musician i said “daaamn thats tough” - you can tell its different from the more simplified version at 0:12
There are quite a lot of video game songs that use this structure: intro + theme + (fake reloop that is in fact the same theme but slightly modified) + outro + true reloop. I like this structure, it makes the song longer and more interesting.
Three things about this song that just SMASH. -DAT BASS. It just gives so much soul and weight. -Timpani! Because nothing says epic like giant kettle drums! -that rolling snare line! Matching that between the timpani beats is just *brilliant.* I do love the main trumpet melody, but it just wouldn’t be as epic without those extra layers!
fireball6107 Pearl was my first. I went for Chimchar and never looked back. Only time I regretted that decision was when I went up against Crasher Wake (I was about 9 so I used my starter, always on par with the gyms, and whatever Pokemon looked the coolest, usually hopelessly out levelled)
Here's hoping they use some of the Fire-type Pokemon that exist and put them in Sinnoh, huh? ;) The first game to actually get my interest back in Pokemon was Platinum, just because, at the time, I had a hankering for Pokemon. So, I saved up my allowance for a Pokemon game, bought one from Target (which was pretty much only a short walk away from my school. Thank god for good public education in a small town), and sat down and played it. And played it. And got in trouble for even playing it in school when I should have been paying attention to Ms. Fuss-pants's explanation of how you were totally going to use Sine, Cosine, and Tangent in real life situations.
No joke, took me two years to beat Gardenia, My prinplup was my only good pokemon, and ten-year-old me didn't have the brain capacity to level up my starly.

Probably 2019, if there is a new release every year. Sun and Moon comes in 2016, third version or sequel comes out in 2017 (if they actually make one), and the generation 8 games come out in 2018, then remakes will come after, or maybe they'll trick us again by releasing the third version before the remakes and they'll come out in 2020.

I really think this is the best gym battle theme. It makes u feel like it's an important and hard battle. I love it!
Volkner was the terror of my childhood, smh. Took me two hours to figure out the way through his gym, since I didn't pay attention at all. And his Octillery.. urgh.. the damn thing kept using Bullet Seed on Gastrodon, my ace at the time.
On another note: Those games are ten years old already? Damn, they aged well.. I just love looking at the sprites.

Gen 4 music just hits different. Not even a slap, it just straight up punches you.
This music always made me feel like the battle is life or death and that gym leaders are extreamly dangerous, even if they are smiling 😅 but I love this music is my favourite of all the generations

It just hit me today that Diamond and Pearl are nearly 17 years old. Really makes me feel old...
Fun fact, Sinnoh was the first region with an equal Gender ratio of male and female gym leaders, with 4 male and 4 female. Kalos is the only other region with an equal ratio (Unless you count the Kahunas in Alola). All the other regions have more male than female gym leaders, with the most imbalanced being Unova, which has 7 male gym leaders (if you count Cilan, Chilli and Cress separately) to only 4 female.
Edit: There is also an equal ratio in the Kanto gyms in HGSS
Edit 2: Scarlet and Violet also has an equal gender ratio of gym leaders (yes, believe it or not, Grusha is a guy).

Hoenn is very close, with 5 males, 4 females (counting Liza and Tate separately. And yes... Tate is male. I was surprised to find that out as well.)

The whole theme is great but i love the variation of the main chorus at 0:57. As a musician i said “daaamn thats tough” - you can tell its different from the more simplified version at 0:12

There are quite a lot of video game songs that use this structure: intro + theme + (fake reloop that is in fact the same theme but slightly modified) + outro + true reloop. I like this structure, it makes the song longer and more interesting.

fireball6107 Pearl was my first. I went for Chimchar and never looked back. Only time I regretted that decision was when I went up against Crasher Wake (I was about 9 so I used my starter, always on par with the gyms, and whatever Pokemon looked the coolest, usually hopelessly out levelled)
Here's hoping they use some of the Fire-type Pokemon that exist and put them in Sinnoh, huh? ;)
The first game to actually get my interest back in Pokemon was Platinum, just because, at the time, I had a hankering for Pokemon. So, I saved up my allowance for a Pokemon game, bought one from Target (which was pretty much only a short walk away from my school. Thank god for good public education in a small town), and sat down and played it.

And got in trouble for even playing it in school when I should have been paying attention to Ms. Fuss-pants's explanation of how you were totally going to use Sine, Cosine, and Tangent in real life situations.

Probably 2019, if there is a new release every year. Sun and Moon comes in 2016, third version or sequel comes out in 2017 (if they actually make one), and the generation 8 games come out in 2018, then remakes will come after, or maybe they'll trick us again by releasing the third version before the remakes and they'll come out in 2020.
