GoT was doing a perfect job, based on the books that were already written, when the source material ended, they started to take things as they go. The writers screwed up one of the best TV series there was. The season finale wasn't making any sense, was totally blank writing. Even George R. R. Martin wasn't satisfied with the ending. He mention will continue to finish his books and the upcoming ending will be completely different to the TV series. Hope House of the Dragon redeems what GoT actually supposed to be.
Cry me a river, some of the best episodes came in these so called lesser seasons and if George RR Martin didn't like the ending then he should have got off his far lazy ass and written the bloody book so that the ending HE wanted was in black and white. HBO should have made him sign an agreement to have all books written before the series ended
