  • Just over 9 years ago, FNAF was released on Steam as a last attempt at game design by Scott Cawthon, and now it basically rules the internet. How did Scott make his franchise into something that will be remembered by millions for years? How did Scott make FNAF an immortal franchise?

People who hate it for its wackiness don’t even really like fnaf imo, they just like the concept. The absolute insanity of it has been a core part of it ever since 2015. Part of the reason I love it is the way it manages to be extremely goofy yet extremely horrifying at the same time, so I’m not really that bothered by the direction it’s taking.

Fnaf has been with me for more than half my life, and I’ve always loved the vague and creative storytelling. There’s always something interesting to talk about, there’s always room for lore to be debated and discussed. And because the timeline and story is so vague, the community comes to many different conclusions and nobody knows what is right and what is not and I love that.

If you ask me, Scott didn expect his game to blow up due to past failures, so that led him to scramble an make more stories that he now has no control of anymore. He probably doesn even know how he wants to end it, he may not even know how he wants certain things to connect (like the bite of '83 an '87). I enjoy the franchise but the newer games definitely strayed from the office horror that was so cool in 1-4 with the sprinkle of hell behind it.

Personally, I love Fnaf 3. That's my favorite game. I love its ambience, scenery of Fazbear's Fright as well as the fact that in this game there's only 1 threat - Springtrap. Springtrap's design is great too. In my opinion he has the best design in comparison to other animatronics. Additionally, Springtrap's smart and sneaky and sometimes it's easy to loose sign of him. Some people may disagree with me, but I actually like his jumpscare. I also think, it was a good idea that Fnaf 3 has Phantom animatronics that cause the system to malfuntion, so the player has to reboot it, which also gives Springtrap the perfect opportunity to either get close or closer to the office. Btw, wonderful video💓

FNAF is essentially the horror genre's equivalent of Kingdom Hearts. It sucked its fans in with its mascots and lore questions, when they were young, and now they're on Mr. Cawthon's crazy thrill ride, until either they or this franchise meets its ultimate end. And so long as there's new lore to discover, it's not unlikely that the franchise will outlast its fans.

It was originally designed to be a free DLC to FFPS just like the Custom Night for Sister Location, but was separated into its own title because of how much is in it on its own. ive not got near as much nostalgia towards this game series as many others as I was absolutely terrified of it and never wanted anything to do with it when it first came out lmao(i just like watching long documentary style videos on various topics lol). honestly though it really fascinates me how someone just created this entire storyline of plot holes, lore etc out of some chuck e cheese type characters which now has a huge and still growing fanbase. oh and the "no matter how many freddy's you five night" HAD ME ROLLING

While I’ll admit FNAF has its flaws, I still love it as a whole. I still sometimes think FNAF UCN should have been the last game in the FNAF franchise, because it would have ended with its classic gameplay, and gave a proper ending to William as a villain.
Seeing FNAF now, it’s gotten pretty interesting. Sure it made the lore a little more complex, but it’s pretty neat at the same time. While there are people like TheftKing, who are the prime example of what the FNAF community isn’t about, we have FuhNaff, ID’s Fantasy, RyeToast, and other small FNAF content creators that have been a positive influence to the fandom.
Help Wanted was a neat way to revive FNAF, and gave us the next generation of FNAF, by using its old gameplay mechanics, but done in VR. Not only was it cool, it was also interesting.
Then we got FNAF AR (rest in peace), that gave us FNAF at our hand held devices, and overtime, we got the first official FNAF game that’s free roam.
While people will argue Fnaf’s golden age was better, and even I will admit that, but the style of Fnaf’s old gameplay would get old overtime, so introducing a newer generation with new mechanics, as well as the older generation, isn’t a bad thing.
Overall, I’d give FNAF a B-, it is t perfect, but it’s done enough to where I still stay hooked to it. To say it won’t die is a bit of a stretch. I’m sure at some point, Scott and Steel Wool will officially end the franchise, and either create a similar franchise to Fnaf, or have a brand new game series with new characters, with no references or callbacks to the original franchise. Either way, I’m excited for Help Wanted 2, and the FNAF Movie. 😀👍

someday i will be old and grey and be watching these videos for comforting entertainment as I slowly rot in a mossy dark musty old room at a retirement center, I spend my days trying to finnally solve all of this, despite having Scotts full explanation of the lote because I refuse to believe thats what the story contained originally when I was a kid. I can barely reach for my protein without help anymore and it's too rainy for my family to stop by and say hi and update me on the outside world, but this timeline brings me comfort in this hour a terror, I haven't spoken to a human that talks of anything but trends and memes, and this franchise brings me peace in this hour as the nurses forget to bring me my melatonin tonight.

FNAF is iconic. It is an awesome idea, and although I don’t like ALL of the the lore, I still enjoy the series as a whole.
My favorite was Security Breach, for breaking the mold in both game play and theme. The ‘80s throwback theme (especially in the music), Freddy as our ally and with a gently giant “Optimus Prime” charm was a really nice touch. Instead of a dark and dirty environment (for the most part), the place slapped of a Paul Verhoeven futuristic runaway corporate dystopia.
Not much of a fan of Ruin, but it had its moments such as with my favorite character Roxanne Wolf, and I hope the series can continue from that story and answer questions about Cassie, Gregory, and perhaps a return of our Papa Bear who is a kind protector and guide to us.

The early storytelling of FNAF was so captivating. The first three games were amazing and a solid package that we didn't need to add to. The first six games were still fun, though I didn't like all of the lore of Sister Location, these games had a good ending that didn't leave tons of questions or confusion. It could have actually given us closure. After that? Honestly, I think Scott should have let FNAF rest and made other titles. I enjoyed the books, especially the Fazbear Frights series, but I don't enjoy any of the books being directly connected to the games in any way, they should just be a goofy thing on their own. I'm excited for the movie, too, it looks like it might actually stick to the vibes of Old FNAF. But I do think the games and the "main story" of the games should have ended with UCN... at the latest. I also wish that the spin-offs and remakes could go without the ridiculous lore additions... anyway, GREAT video!

fun fact: the ambient sounds in fnaf 2 when there’s a robot in the hall is actually called “Sci-Fi Alarms with Scary Ambience”. makes sense, but what we’re the sirens for in the game? they might be ‘cuz toy freddy has a system that will alert the security puppet and he might think the robots are criminals so he sets a siren, but the puppet thinks the night guard is the intruder. so he uses the music box to distract the puppet. squeak.
