It’s normal, healthy, and acceptable to lighten very dark circumstances with some levity. This isn’t even really gallows humor, it’s allowing people to still feel normal during what is arguably abnormal circumstances.
He seems to be trying very hard to make sure that he doesn’t shod favoritism to the prosecution. His comments out of the ear of the jury make it pretty clear he believes Durst is guilty. He tends to be convinced by Lewin much more than the defense. I think because he’s so subconsciously biased toward the prosecution, he’s somewhat overcompensating.
This judge reminds me of Judge Alito in OJ Simpson trial. He makes things about himself too often, inappropriate. He should worry more about how screwed up things are in his courtroom, how things don't work properly, weird noises. Another thing, there's too much joviality in the courtroom, from the prosecutor the defense and the judge. This is a murder trial and these characters are hamming it up to much. It's not funny I don't imagine to the family members.
Yesterday during a hearing when the camera was on the judge while the prosecution attorney was speaking he kept getting between the judge and the camera. The judge was doing EVERYTHING to stay in the view of the camera. He was rolling his chair every time the prosecutor got in the way. It was hilarious.
I am for the prosecution and he is doing a great job, but testifying os frightening, especially in a case like this. She is scared and they are joking around. Seems it would be best to thank her for hanging in there with the techno difficulties.
Lawyers and judges often use humor to both connect to the jury and to lighten incredibly dark situations. It’s not just normal, acceptable, and taught to them as students, psychologically it’s common and healthy.
Look at him.... Karma obviously did her job. Funny things is no matter how many times we see the rich get away with murder.... as a society they keep doing it. The murders in SC last week too. Lawyers and such... pfffft. Read that story too. All a mess. They still worship the money Gods tho.
Sometimes gallows humour helps... and to be fair even things really bad are funny because it's so bad , there is no place for humour and yet there it is! Take now for instance the guy is like you liked that big fluffy dog! Toilet rolls! Toilet rolls! I hope he's not paid by the hour! His hour is mosts 15 mins!
Arse.... how do they behave this way? I know that law school takes some hard work and dedication. They all sound like buffoons. I knew I should've been an attorney
This witness is so compelling and her willingness to be helpful is overwhelming.
Lol

I feel for her Family.. It’s crazy how the law didn’t take this case seriously. This crime would have been solved with today’s technology and methods
Glad the judge and attorneys are having a lot of laughs. This is a murder trial. Have some respect.
It's called gallows humour. Admittedly a lot here but saves sanity.

So are they speculating he used toilet paper to clean the crime scene? 🤔😂
I think the defense is just proving the point that the police did a horrific investigation
Wow, this judge really doesn't like the prosecutor.

Complete chaos
I agree with you .Maybe💵💸💵
Could not agree more. Its's like Chandler Bing is representing CA. Judge is no better.

The defence must retire! They can't put 2 words together in a sentence! So incompetent 🤦!
This is a dog and pony show! This is a serious case. How dare these wakos laugh and joke
Lord have mercy. I find this disgraceful.

She said "months", not "March" when asked how long after Kathie disappeared it was that Bob got rid of Kathie's belongings. 45:12 ish
My mind is blown away
50 bags of toilet paper.... why... is that normal???
Thanks a hearing aid feedback
They need a professional audio/video person on staff
It is the attorneys' job to present the case to the jury, not the court's.
No more LIVE coverage?
I think it’s bc they’re covering the Daniel trial live now- so we have to wait to get the trial video from this trial. Ugh.
@@maryb6672 thank you
The podcast titled Jury Duty-Robert Durst is very good.
She looks so unimpressed with these clown shoes
5 years my mom passed and I STIL have all her stuff!
M mom passed 5 years ago and I STILL have her stuff.
this trial is a joke, what is going on here.
Welcome to California ...
Pulling teeth would be more captivating
This trail run like a circus. I dont think these lawyers and judge taken it serious.
Wow the amount of mistakes in that one statement are astounding

If you need reading glasses always remember to bring them to court if you are called as a witness.
Respect for Ms. Jones. She had the courage to say the truth!
I don’t get why they are trying him now,he’s livedfree all these years

Because he needs to pay, yes he got away long time and still getting away acting all week and fragile and maybe looney.

The whole trial is like this. The detectives screwed up big time. They didn’t even look in the house until twenty years later.
Like my dad use to say"sometimes we have to laugh to keep from crying"
What a piece of garabage durst was? How do you get rid of everything from your missing wife?
