Listen to that confused laughter. I think a majority of the audience really thought Danny McBride was a failed karate instructor and the comedy was unintentional.

Today, it's obviously a comedy bit, but at the time, I watched it and was completely convinced he was a Tae Kwon Do instructor.

i watched this live from my dorm room and was as confused as i was excited by the chaos and crowd reaction
little did i know i was watching the guy who would build a comedic empire and go on to make me laugh harder than anyone on the planet
Master Ken is better
Danny McBride is a genius of comic delivery. He did a great job playing his roles in "Land of the Lost" and "30 Minutes or Less". No one could have done a better job in those roles.
I love both of those movies
30 min or less was good but land of the lost was a plate of hot shit

Finally! I remember seeing this as a kid, assumed it was fake but wasn’t sure, and then eventually saw he became a well known actor and have wanted to see this clip again.
I didn’t know who Danny Mcbride was at the time. I watched this during the original airing. I thought it was a real crazy ass dude at the time.
Getting Will to have to hide his laugh is such a badge of honor when you're just breaking through. Danny rocks
Will Ferrel was one of the producers i think for that movie.
You know Will and Conan are dying inside cuz this is hilarious and the audience doesn't quite get it.
You can't be sure of that because they don't really laugh at other's jokes, they're always thinking of the next bit to one up
I hope so. I like Conan and Ferrell, but I like McBride a little more and I was thinking they were respectful to keep straight faces as not to blow his satire cover, but at the same time it was hard to tell if the same respect went all around.
Either way the McBride bit was funny to me and despite seeming uncomfortable, he knocked it out of the park.
@@vb8428 you can see will scratch his chin while trying not to break. They both know laughing would spoil the bit.
@@vb8428laughter is involuntary so sometimes they have to stifle it a bit - there's no thinking going on to "one up" - Will had one line, so he's not thinking about one-upping anybody. Also people break on SNL all the time even though they have lines themselves - because laughter is involuntary.

When the camera is on Danny, seeing rashida’s sleeve shake in the background when she’s laughing is itself hilarious 😂😂

One of my favorite actors.
Danny’s and one of my favorite guys of all time, he and Will Ferrell produced so much stuff together. It’s funny how people don’t know they know each other and yet he busts on Will. “Eastbound and down”, baby you need to watch it, nonstop laughter absolutely insane
