antonio kofoed I agree. Some songs worked better with the original mix and other tracks worked better with the remix. Songs like Ceiling Unlimited, Freeze, Out Of The Cradle, and Peaceable Kingdom worked better with the remix, and One Little Victory, Secret Touch, Earthshine, and Nocturne worked better with the original mix imo.
After a relatively weak decade in the 90s with the exception of roll the bones, vapor trails had some of my favorite songs. Earthshine, secret touch, and peaceable Kingdom.
This song is a lyrical AND drumming masterpiece by Neil. So many awesome little nuances going on, if you can hear them underneath the muddy production.
This song’s interlude part maybe my best out of so many great Rush songs. I think Alex’s 3 or 4 or 5 guitars here just expand the sound of this song so much.
Favorite track from the album. I agree the original mix is muddy sounding (it was hard to listen to this album and make out individual lyrics or musical elements when driving) but the remix in cleaning things up or whatever took away the 2002 release's strong bite.
Not the best production ever but nice and heavy, I got into this album so much when it came out. Easily my fave post-2000 Rush album. The guitar suffers in the newer remix
Of course this album should sound better, it is very agressive sounding. Drums are little flat. Roaring guitars are on top and singer could sound smoothier or clearer. But seems to me it's no good trying to remix it, if you can't really change it better. Anyway, this is best Rush albums, songs are trademark top good Rush!
heavy, ballsy, dark, melodic, THATS how i like my Rush.
After 20 years in the can, must be refreshing!
@@lachlanwhish9515- I don’t think i ever mentioned how much time i done.
One of their greatest without a doubt. Captures a hauntingly melodic, dark mysterious atmosphere. Killer track.
solo reminds me of Limelight. You are right, haunting.
This original mix album is a masterpiece! I NEVER had any issues with it.
Same here. I prefer to the remix record.
I concur, bass is way to chunky in the remix. I like the guitar heavy original mix, reminds me of 2112 side b
Try the 2009 remaster (not the 2013):

I feel like some songs leant themselves to this type of sound and some suffered.

First album back after Neil’s ride….this song haunts.

What a great song!!
Really beautiful!!
Great song indeed....just love the atmosphere with Alex's guitar ....texture , from 3:28 mark right to the end 😀
John Tabakos, yes!!!! I agree this song attracted me precisely because of the atmosphere of alex's guitar

the best band
Never appreciated this fully till hear it live on the rush in rio album, this is my first time hearing the OG mix

One of their top 10 albums. Top 5 for me.
BASS. goddammit!!!!!
FUCK! the remaster of this album!
🎸🥁🎸
Rush es la patá....Este disco es una genialidad!!
no entiendo porque concha lo remixearon de esa forma, el sonido original de este disco es una delicia, bien agresivo.

“Album- Vapor Trails”
Neil obviously wrote this one. Noting the shadow Earth cast on the moon in its crescent state.
Eh? Neil wrote all the lyrics!
