I have a 1989.1500 SE. There were 52500 miles on it when I bought it. It now has 75500 miles on it. Absolutely no issues or problems with this motorcycle. I have gone through it from front to rear, top to bottom. I'm the 3rd owner of this bike. I personally know the 1st and 2nd owners. They took very good care of it as well. This 1989 GL 1500 SE is flawless. Yes, I have replaced a number of things do to normal wear and tear. Of course, every year, I change ALL of the fluids from front to back. I've upgraded ALL of the lites to LED's. I've added several USB PORTS in the front, and rear luggage compartment, cigarette lighter for running an air compressor, and a voltage meter & tire pressure monitoring system. I find it odd that some people say to stay away from the early year 1500's. I will put my 1989 up against any motorcycle on the road today. For the past 4 years I have driven this motorcycle all over the U.S.A. and I'm going to run it in 2024 all over the country again. See ya out there.

I got my '89 GL1500 in early June 16 2016 with 109K miles on it and three weeks later was heading west! All I did was change the oil and front brake pads. 😄 Maybe not the smartest move on my part, but the only problem it gave me was a broken speedometer cable while leaving Salt Lake City. It has never let me sit except when the operator neglects the gas tank! 😶 It's just a great testament of these bikes!

I have a 1990 gl 1500 that has 223+ k miles. I just in July 21 took her to Kentucky from sw Florida. We traveled 19 hours one way and around the area then 19 hours home. Had no problems. I prefer the 88 - 90s

I believe that the odometer on a Wing will continue to read mileage well past the first 100,000 miles. I met a man last year with a 1993 Gold Wing and the odometer was reading 377,000 and this year it is 380,000 miles.

Depends on the year/model, but yes, GL1500's have million mile odometers.

Oil in airbox is sometimes caused by never draining the airbox drain. Have run into this before on more than a few Honda bikes. Pull the plug and let it drain(8:35 in your video).

Hello Scott, thanks for the video. When I had my GL1100I cooling system tore down for a rebuild, I told the radiator to a radiator shop and had it de-scaled, chemically cleaned. I also put in a bit of madditive VP racing cool down. Check for debris ie bird nest, in and around the fan. I would not recommend running a motor without the thermostat, that doesn't allow the coolant in the radiator to dissipate its heat. Also it's possible to put the thermostat in backwards. Have a great day.

New Question: What can the Battery Tender type connector plug I have installed to the battery be used for besides charging the bike? Assuming I have a proper connection at the far end, can I run just a wire and no transformer from it in order to charge my phone? To heat my electric gloves or my vest? Thanks.

You didn't mention the year/model of your bike, which makes it difficult to answer...
