Hey, Trent. My granddaughter, Aliyah, is near the end of completing her "ground school" in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada and then will be starting flying lessons. I shared this video with her - I'm sure she will enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks for this "year-end" treat.
Really appreciate these videos and your honesty Trent it’s nice to know stuff like this in real time what actually really happens since when you have a lot of people around etc. definitely have to be aware
You guys are so lucky that you can go out and play like that at this time of year. Here in the UK we have storms, wind and rain. It's not even worth stepping outside the front door to do anything much. Thanks for the video, it was a pleasure to watch. PS Happy New Year
I live by Trent, there's a foot of snow covering every right now and this time last year there was over 2'. He just had a nice window to get over the Sierra's.
I'm amazed how far my Starlink modem sends out a wifi signal. One night while camping in the boonies of Arizona with buddies spread out over 100 yards of creek bed, my modem registered 13 different devices from our three trucks. Everybody was blown away by having high speed Internet in the middle of nowheresville.
Beginning about 14:07. Orland, CA holds a special place in the history of Wildland Firefighter tragedies and fire aviation. Orland was the home of the arsonist that set a number of wildland fires in the Mendocino National Forest in early July 1953. The set that would become history was named the Rattlesnake Fire. 14 Call When Needed (CWN) firefighters and one US Forest Service (USFS) firefighter would be overrun by the fire and perish. This tragedy led the USFS to seriously explore thoughts and experiments in using aircraft for wildland fire suppression. The rest is history.
Great video and day of flying Trent! Too bad for the damage to one of the planes. Thankful no one was injured. You mentioned Nervino as you were flying west. Is that also the BECKWOURTH-NERVINO AIRPORT? Have landed there many times in the Luscombe to visit one of my dad's long time friends, Herb and drive to Portola for lunch. Couldn't stay long so we could "beat the heat" on take-off heading back to Stead. 😆 I just drove through Orland this past September heading to RARA in Reno and visited a widow there who, with her husband, were dairy farmers for many years. My dad would occasionally land his T-Craft, back in the late 50's and early 60's, in the pasture behind their home outside of Orland to say hello. I helped on their dairy one summer, in 1966, and decided that I was not tough enough to be a dairyman. 😄
Hey Trent, Matt’s Off-road Recovery (look up his channel) is looking for non off-road RUclipsrs to compete in the Off-road Games with them. They said to comment on the channels if we think of a RUclipsr they should invite. So I thought of you and here I am commenting. They talk about this in their latest video “How Does The Banana Copy Compare?”
Fun watching as always. As a guy that works on aircraft engines, a lot of times bush planes, but lycoming and continental only. And someone that flies paraglider’s cross country, I do enjoy watching cross country flights from your perspective, my style of flying is much different, no motor, but I can carry my aircraft up a hill and launch and fly for hours on end, and land 100’s of miles away (if I had the skills and stamina, I’ve only done 20 or so, but 200-300 or even more is possible) then being able to land in the smallest of spots and hike out is pretty cool. Although it would be cool to be able to launch from flat land instead of climbing a mountain in some situations, but that’s just part of the sport. Love your videos, definitely enjoy watching them.
I really miss my 1956... 170B!! N17 Zero Bravo was it's (N) number!!!! We think it was for demonstration with Cessna back in the day with the new "barn door" huge flaps and the like. Really nice stuff you share with your great talent of mastering of the air... new wonderful equipment to share/test and landing out very, very well as you do... many thanks my friend for the memories of past days that I really miss so much... Did it before the FFA even cared and before... it was so, so cool to do!!!
Thank you Trent for the awesome videos and for sharing your home life as well as the flying. I love the job you did on the hangar. I am a structural engineer and I like your style / approach - literally LoL. I am in the Harrison Mills area of BC, Canada. We have a nearby country club with a landing strip - perfect for STOL although many single engine planes use it. I’ve been watching for a couple years and I plan to go for my pilot license. One thing that is intriguing in our area and seemingly perfect for KitFox is gravel bar hopping in the Fraser River. Mike Patey flew over us on his way to Alaska in Draco. I wonder if we can persuade you to come check out our area, with your controls pointed “Great White North”. Thanks again, awesome vids.
I haven’t commented on any videos before and I wanted to thank you for posting about your flying adventures, I’m starting flight school this this month and you are one of the reasons I am pursuing my long time dream of being a pilot, so thank you and I look forward to joining you in the sky’s some day!
Hi Trent. Happy New Year to you from the Victorian high country, Down-under. I love the way you guys fly the back country. Just a suggestion, seeing how you have your 3D printer, can you probably mount the StarLink further back behind you in your blind spot to free up the overhead vision. Could improve the safety factor when flying in the group situations. Keep up the great work, always enjoy your vids.
Thank you for another epic video. So Sorry to hear about the metal mashing. How in the heck did the helicopter Pick up and move the plane. Pretty awesome How you guys are so well-connected.
I always loved watching the sunrise and set from the cockpit of the c17s. especially that one day in all the years watching for, that I got to see greenland. glad you're back in the air!
When I got my TW endorsement I was told the same thing as when I learned complex, those who have had a ground loop and those who will. Hope the plane is all patched up.
Great video as usual ! But even if I am used to your hight quality video, I always notice your high quality and appreciate it a LOT ! The finale footage is gorgeous ! Your promotion of safety is always good advice and could become salvation for any flying subscriber ! Happy new year, God bless you.
I was flying northbound on the west side of 0o4 when I saw 318jj on adsb-in flying down to Orland. HEY! I know that plane! Was definitely a beautiful day for flying.
Hey, Trent, I love watching your videos! I actually live only a few hours away from you in Yerington and I love seeing local content and places that I recognize! I am hoping to get my pilots license in Garnerville this spring if all goes to plan. Thanks for making these wonderful videos and inspiring me to get my license! I hope to meet you one day!
I love the visibility on your plane. I moved to Florida from Colorado to learn to fly. I just learned about air density and thought it was ironic that Colorado probably has better flight conditions in the better half of the year.
Absolutely love your content man ,I’m in central ca and grew up with my grandparents in red bluff living in red bluff and spent a lot of time in that area , working on my ppl with 10 hours built so far Might just see you in the skies one day ,stay safe and thanks
Speaking of thick air. One of the things I like to do is go fly in the winter when its 0F outside and the DA is in the Minus thousands. It takes a while to get the plane warmed up and ready and the cockpit never gets warm, but its like flying through soup.
If inspiring others is your main goal, as I suspect it is, then please consider it mission accomplished. Thank you for everything you've shared in 2023 while looking forward to tagging along in 2024!
Trent , Happy New Year and best to you and yours in the crazy year 2024 could likely be. As one of your many virtual wing men I would love to see more flight time adventures. Cheers and the best to you.
Glad all is safe with your friend. This is by far my most favorite video you have put out. Lots of flying with good scenery which is what I love. What size of tires are the planes in this video? A guy in my hanger just bought a 2020 carbon cub with 35 inch mains and some big 8 or 10 inch tail tire. It seems like it is almost as big as my mains on my decathlon, which of course is not designed to do what you do with your plane. Look forward to more videos this coming year.
I always enjoy your videos, but this one was awesome because you were in my neck of the woods. I live just north of the Orland airport, and while I no longer fly, if I'm outside and hear an airplane I'm looking up. I wish I would have seen you and your crew fly by on the way to Orland. It looks like you took the Highway 70 route home as that lake appears to be Bucks Lake. Thanks for the interesting content!
Another fantastic video, makes me want a backcountry bird. Have you considered putting the starlink in the tail? Maybe remove some of that tail ballast.
Greetings from Kenya. Have you thought if installing the satellite receiver over the baggage compartment for better overhead visibility? Great videos. Keep em coming. Happy new year, keep the blue side up!!!
This video has me questioning the practice of landing and taking off on a non runway surface parallel to an established runway at an airport and how that relates to FAA regulations.
Hey Trent just found your channel. Great stuff! Did you get a LSA or PPL to fly this plane? Trying to figure out which to pursue for my own flight aspirations. I’ve always wanted to fly a bush plane over Cali and/or Alaska
Trent, why don't you just create a solid bar at the back side of the Starlink transmitter/receiver where the two brackets are flimsy? I can see while you are in flight that the transmitter vibrates a lot. It can run from left to right straight through and thus create a sturdy bar on which the transmitter can rest.Just a suggestion.
I’ll happily trade you that cold 27 degrees for the negative 31 degrees we have going on this week… 😂 just think how fast the Freedom Fox will get off the ground with a density altitude of neg 5000’ will get at 200’ msl… 😂
G,day Trent and happy New year from Sydney Australia. So was it a complete "ground loop" or just wing tip and remaining straight? That was fantastic, visually appealing and relaxing to watch. 🛩️➖🤨

I’m glad your friend is ok. I understand why he didn’t want to share his experience however I wish he did for the learning aspect of it. I'm in Cornwall, Ontario! Hopefully I meet your granddaughter at an event one day 😊
With Starlink could you do a live from the plane in flight. That might be cool.
Came here to say this too, haha.
Really appreciate these videos and your honesty Trent it’s nice to know stuff like this in real time what actually really happens since when you have a lot of people around etc. definitely have to be aware

We only have 2 seasons in NorCal: Summer and Fire.
Same here, I look forward to having warm 27 degree summer 😂😂
Yeah, I'm in London and so jealous. I used to fly sailplanes, but nowadays it's R/C model gliders. Not had much flying weather at all, sadly.
I live by Trent, there's a foot of snow covering every right now and this time last year there was over 2'. He just had a nice window to get over the Sierra's.
It is crazy how we have virtually zero snowpack! It is going be a rough wildfire season.
Yeah, kinda scary!
@Russellepstein7978,Every wildfire season is rough when you have the forest mismanagement skills of California🤦♂️
Good to see the Bush Flyers Down Under sticker on Toby's machine!
Always fun to see videos from NorCal! Sorry to hear about the accident. The grass/gravel at Orland is good as long as it’s not too wet.
I go to nowheresville to get away from it! 😊 Oh wait, I live in nowheresville……

Awesome video, great insight of what good friends with planes could get done on a short day. Hope your buddys aircraft is back up flying soon

Good morning from Minnesota!! Great episode to start off the new year!!
Happy New Year Trent and Family!
Happy 2024 to you and your hunny. All the best this year.
2:41 into the video and for the first time in my life the term "Air Nerds" has come across my thoughts.... you're hilarious Trent.
I haven’t commented on any videos before and I wanted to thank you for posting about your flying adventures, I’m starting flight school this this month and you are one of the reasons I am pursuing my long time dream of being a pilot, so thank you and I look forward to joining you in the sky’s some day!

Awesome, I thought I recently heard you and your group on the scanner while taking down the Christmas decorations the other day. Happy New Year!
When I got my TW endorsement I was told the same thing as when I learned complex, those who have had a ground loop and those who will. Hope the plane is all patched up.
I go to red bluff quite a bit. Wish I could be there for a hand shake. Great video and be safe.
hahaha I LOVE the starlink wifi sharing - cracked me up - awesome!
Happy New Year and fly safe.
Good flight!
Great video as usual ! But even if I am used to your hight quality video, I always notice your high quality and appreciate it a LOT !

Awesome! I fly down your way fairly often!
@@TrentonPalmer So cool! I hope I will see you fly over one day!
Beautiful day. Happy New Year to all, thanks for sharing. Yep, head on a swivel. PS we geezers are quite sure that rap music isn’t.
So impressive Star link in your tiny plane 👍 Talk about work from anywhere😁
That was cool video glad everyone is ok and had a lot of fun 👍🏻
Breezy's is one of the best spots! Great video!
Thank you for the ride along, Trent! What a great way to closeout the year!
Thanks for sharing. Always amazing quality! Keep on flying!
Happy new year! Definitely envious of your opportunities to fly. The Portland area is hit and miss. I need to get in the air soon!!
I love the visibility on your plane. I moved to Florida from Colorado to learn to fly. I just learned about air density and thought it was ironic that Colorado probably has better flight conditions in the better half of the year.
Happy new year to Trent and to all of his wingmen!
Absolutely love your content man ,I’m in central ca and grew up with my grandparents in red bluff living in red bluff and spent a lot of time in that area , working on my ppl with 10 hours built so far

Started my training today, been flying paramotors for a few years but thanks for the inspiration to go for fixed wing!
You can now do a live stream while flying! Happy New Year btw!!!
Excellent video!
If inspiring others is your main goal, as I suspect it is, then please consider it mission accomplished. Thank you for everything you've shared in 2023 while looking forward to tagging along in 2024!
Happy New Year
Love these. Happy New Year Trent! Bless 🙌
Great video whatever happened to the flying Cowboys???
That looks like such a fun time.
Trent , Happy New Year and best to you and yours in the crazy year 2024 could likely be. As one of your many virtual wing men I would love to see more flight time adventures. Cheers and the best to you.
These are my favorite type of videos.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND HAILEY. (haven't seen her in too many of your recent videos)
Happy New Years bro.

Hi Trent, you should try to live stream in flight with your onboard startlink system, would be very cool to see.
Happy new year Trent. Thank you for your fun and interesting episodes.
I always enjoy your videos, but this one was awesome because you were in my neck of the woods. That has to be so much fun just flying around with so cool guys for the Dat stay safe guys
Happy new year 🎊🎊🎊
Hey, I've been hope you have a good New Year this year and a safe one. My friend never met you. But I'm watching a lot take care.
You should put a bubble mirror in the top corner. That should solve your problem of not being able to see with the star link.
Another fantastic video, makes me want a backcountry bird. Have you considered putting the starlink in the tail? Maybe remove some of that tail ballast.
"Probably just watch RUclips I guess!!!" The best line ever!!!
🤷🤣
Giving the term "mobile hotspot" a whole new meaning....
Freedom Web
Is that the same Starlink you can put in a truck??
Gorgeous video! ❤
I'd love to see you doing livestreams thanks to that starlink!!!
Once again a great video, can you talk about your wife’s health and how she has been I know you have talked about her health issues in the passed?
I live for these videos. My kind of adventure..sans accidents, of course. Trying to get my 30 yr old grandson interested in flying.
That’s freaking crazy. It’s awesome.
Greetings from Kenya. Have you thought if installing the satellite receiver over the baggage compartment for better overhead visibility? Great videos. Keep em coming. Happy new year, keep the blue side up!!!
Literally flying all over my area....I will get my own plane one day and we'll meet I promise that...life's been working out to get me there
Well, heck. A great time, indeed.
This video has me questioning the practice of landing and taking off on a non runway surface parallel to an established runway at an airport and how that relates to FAA regulations.
Have you ever done a video of what you pack on the plane when doing back country or cross country flying?
Put a camera in the copilot seat so your veiwers can fly with you live. that would be amazing
I am in Chico, not far from there. Red Bluff has the most ridiculous fuel price , lol
Hey Trent just found your channel. Great stuff! Did you get a LSA or PPL to fly this plane? Trying to figure out which to pursue for my own flight aspirations. I’ve always wanted to fly a bush plane over Cali and/or Alaska
Did wingtip damage on my Avid during initial flight tests after build!

Where is The HaleStorm.?.?.! 3:45 😮
Talk about living the dream..
G,day Trent and happy New year from Sydney Australia.
So was it a complete "ground loop" or just wing tip and remaining straight?
That was fantastic, visually appealing and relaxing to watch.
🛩️➖🤨
Would love to see the logistics of a heli picking and moving a bush plane! I understand the privacy and all, but what steps do you take to prevent further damage?
Great video
Hi Trent,
Wife and I are big fans of your videos. Ever thought about a trip south of the border?
I’d love to do a Baja trip in the plane! For a while it was really tricky with experimental aircraft but I think there’s a way to get a permit now. It’s on my list for sure
I'm curious how the camera at the rear of the cockpit, looking forward, takes videos with the horizon staying level and showing the plane banking.
Why dont you mount that Starlink above the baggage hold? Might have to get creative with the 3D printer but it would get that thing clear out of your way. Tell your buddy not to be so hard on himself and as long as he learned from the incident and no one got hurt or the plane did not get dinged up to bad its all good. Cant tell you how many times I have done something stupid and my dad was always doing something stupid because he loved to show off when he should have been showing restraint!
Man, what I would not do to be with all you guys out there hanging out I’m so envious but happy for you guys so glad you could enjoy this life :-)
I think that I would install that StarLink antenna under the turtle deck and keep my view clear.
I’m glad your friend is ok. I understand why he didn’t want to share his experience however I wish he did for the learning aspect of it. I would like to know what went wrong, why, what the damage was and the process of determining that the airplane shouldn’t be flown after.
Obviously a ground loop but intentionally done to prevent a worse case or unintentional. As a student looking to get into back country flying It would be a good learning experience. Personally I would never criticize another pilot’s mistake because we are all subject to mistakes and I like to learn from any and all others mistakes to help make me a better pilot as well as know and understand the risks and what could happen. We don’t know what we don’t know.
If he ever changes his mind I’d love to know and understand what happened.
Sparse snow on Sierras.
Oh man missed you in Orland! HMU next time, I literally live under the downwind/base of 15, 2 miles up the road.
Buttery video 🎉
I so wish to fly along with someday 🤗until then happy new year 🎊
Where’s no man’s land 🤔
