I love how he's the complete antithesis of Bob Mortimer. Bob will throw in a bunch of nonsense details to make every story sound like a lie, whereas Greg throws in a bunch of specific details to make you think the story is true even when it's not.
The Austrian teacher going "is everybody here" is such a German and Austrian thing to say. Almost all of my teachers were asking us that instead of counting. We almost lost 3 students on the way back from a trip when the doors on one of the cars in the underground were faulty and would not open at our stop. We had to go one further and find our way back. This was before everyone and their cat had a mobile phone, by the way.
I totally agree 😂 20 years ago on a school trip. They left me at a Truckstop in Lyon/France, but they showed up again, after an hour. Of course it was my fault, said the teacher, because she asked in the bus "is everybody here" and I thought to myself "damn, adults are f*** stupid"
I ADORE British Comedy. Greg is a freakin LEGEND, and I think a big part of his ability to make you LYAO is that he used to be a “normal guy”, who was a Teacher. That stays with you and informs your act in many ways…mainly that you never want to go back there 🤣 Awesome. !
Why did they go lie for the vegetables story when he kept enthusiastically and embarrassingly adding more details while genuinely creasing up laughing? 😂
He kept remembering bits from the trip as if he hadn't thought about it in years and was cracking up over it. Had to be true or he's the best liar of all time.
It’s about the fear of failure. It’s an effect caused by triggering their minds with the details. Every detail he explained has an effect like “oh no, that’s such a good story, but we are all idiots, when we’re thinking it’s the truth”. So yeah from the couch at home I easily figured out that the details, especially the laughing, is easy to interpret as a true memory. For them it’s like another trigger like “oh no he’s maybe so good pretending laughing.. it would be so dumb to not get that he’s exaggerating.” Every detail let them think “maybe he’s very good prepared”. The more often they got triggered, the more likely it works out. If I understood correctl: often they said, they do believe him but decided to say it’s a fake. At this point they triggered themselves like: “yeah I do believe him, oh no, I’m too confident in this, he must have tricked me” The other way around you can see it in the last story. On that story there weren’t many details, so they were not overwhelmed by those details triggering them; making them not uncomfortable to login what they actually think until Greg get into their heads with the trigger “it’s the truth !!!” At this point they all thought “oh no maybe we’re idiots, it’s an easy imaginable story, it could be true”
I can just tell if I went out for beers with Greg I'd end waking up tied by my feet, upside down hanging from an electricity tower with my credit card and mobile phone sellotaped to my arse, accompanied with a note saying "Hehehehe!".
Phil: You're the skip, you've got the armbands Marcus: Do you get armbands if you're a captain? Phil: Only if you can't swim Makes me proud to be British.
22:16 bathtub sleeping . That brings back memories , I was 16 years old. I’d moved into a dog box sized house with my father and his girlfriend . The only space left ,was an old unused bathroom with no running water . And an old lime green metal bathtub attached to the wall . My bed , consisted of the bathroom door laying ontop of the bathtub ….With the door hinge’s screwed into the wall . I could raise and lower the door / bed and mattress to use the space under the bathtub as storage space for my things . This was in the hills of Perth Western Australia .
Plot twist: it was the Language Teacher who asked him to come over and watch Netflix. Then we were given the wonderful Bad Dong video. Comedy genius Mr. Taskmaster.
We had a large sofa and I took the cushions as they fitted the bath......why did nobody ask the obvious question - why didn't you sleep on the large sofa??
I'll propose it cldve been to get some relative peace and quiet- as compared to a living room where often times the party goes on till early morning hours
Not being excessively familiar with a "snorkel parka", I thought they were just jibberish words until he began to unravel the mystery. In my head I heard "snorka parker".
I just assumed it was an awkward L shaped sofa and they had a fairly long bathtub that had the tap end against the wall with a smooth curved edge. I'm 6 ft tall and tested out my bathtub, with my head under the taps, the underside of my knees would rest comfortably on the curved edge of the tub with my feet hanging over the edge if I was about half a foot taller which Greg is just more than at 6'8
The trip to calais i must say is normal, we were told off you go, meet back here and there was no headcount coming back from what i remember, i think everyone made it home, im guessing teachers went to the pub lol i dont blame them
Rob’s quick wit is underrated, the bit about “you’re very big aren’t you is gold”
Also the “you’re a very good actor” and Rob’s reply “well……”. Also “we’re all BAFTA nominated” were brilliant!!!
@@09juliancarrI was going to say that too 😂 it was amazing
Greg's best quality is how he feeds off everyone's energy and contributes so much to the general merriment with those big belly laughs
"Awwww SCHEISSE!!!" is one of those lines that is funny in the delivery, and then gets even funnier as you think about the context.
barry scheiseeman, snipers dream?
I've watched him tell that vegetables story at least 10 times by now and I still laugh.
Same 🤣

7:16 Greg’s sheer uncontainable joy at the ridiculousness of David Mitchell saying “Coushoon” is a wonderful thing
The comedic chemistry between Rob Brydon & Greg Davies is a delight to observe. It's clearly there but is wonderfully understated.
Sad

But adding "nonsense" to a story surely turns it into a lie? Since you are adding things in that arent true?
Doesn't everyone love the Gulf Stream?
@@apk4381 yeah except for the fsct that the nonsense is true and bob mortimer is actually insane
@@n0oOoO He does sometimes add stuff that didn't happen to true stories like the animatronic hand lion
@@85UKDan The animatronic hand lion was real! Reddit found something that looks convincingly similar at least.

The “Vegetable story” is for sure the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. Brittish comedy is superb.
The "Fecal Jackson Pollock" does it for me...
British comedy is even better

Completely agree on all points. I’d put Greg on my top 10 list of comics without a doubt.
Greg's Rickshaw lie is up there with Claudia Winkleman's labelling people with animals story. No hesitation whatsoever.
I love Greg Davies. He's hysterical
I love how Greg looks normal sized next to Richard Osman 😅
Why did they go lie for the vegetables story when he kept enthusiastically and embarrassingly adding more details while genuinely creasing up laughing? 😂
I’ll never get that they said lie !
It was actually a truth.
@@pbondcasa Hence my question based on how Greg had answered everything.
He kept remembering bits from the trip as if he hadn't thought about it in years and was cracking up over it. Had to be true or he's the best liar of all time.

“We’re better than that “. You can take the man out of the classroom but you can’t take the classroom out of the man
Yeah, you can just tell that was one of his go-to lines standing in front of a class lol
He is hilarious and has had a very interesting life, especially as a teacher.
His teacher stories are so REAL
I don't know if it's in the spirit of this game but this story is true 🤣
British humour is unmatched 😭😭 lol 😂
I absolutely adore this man, he’s 😂. I wish I could meet him once over a candlelight dinner 😊❤
I can imagine Bob playing Snorkel Parka Music Practice Room, I'm surprised he hasn't played it before to be honest!
"Where did he put his rickshaw?" OMG, hahaha
"Is that a metaphor?"
OMG, Greg’s outrageous story made me laugh so hard that I’ve peed my pants
I love Greg Davies 😂
"Two lampposts" 😂😂😂. Love Rob Brydon ♥️. 14:16.
I love Greg Davies. Laffin out loud keeping my dog up! :D
I love Greg. 'Man Down' is brilliant! Never laughed so hard. :))
The vegetables story is amazing, so simple but every detail was hilarious
COUSHON!! ahahahaha i love Greg Davies. The new tv show The Cleaner where hes a crime scene cleaner is hilarious❤
I’ll look for that! Greg is too funny!
I’m looking forward to it
The cleaner is actually based on a german series called „Tatortreiniger“ and the original is even funnier!
Childhood regret that Greg wasn't my teacher during school years
Did you go to his school??
he actually taught at my school but i wasnt even born when he was teaching there lol
Hilarious! I love Greg Davies.
Greg is not quite Bob Mortimer hilarious, but he's awfully close! 😂😂😂
My favorites are Gareth and the one with his mum Pauline
21:22 if Greg's flat had 'a giant 1970s sofa' why didn't he sleep on that instead of the sofa?
Greg's best stuff is on WILTY. Most people's best stuff are tbh. Love it.

23:15- 23:26 such an underrated joke from Rob Brydon lol
Very funny man!! Trying to imagine him as a teacher !!! LOL
Definitely a different style of teacher than the one he played on Inbetweeners
Before he put his hand up I guessed this game has Bob Mortimer written all over it.

Such a good story telker , Gregg . Love it❤
Never doubt Greg's teaching stories.
I've watched this vid many times and it always makes me laugh.
I need an episode with Bob Mortimer and Greg Davies on the same team. Does that exist?

I love the conviction he gave it on that last one "Its the truth"
Bob Mortimer is skilled delivery of madness. Greg Davies is skilled suppression of it.
"You're very big, aren't you 😏😘"
Playing poker against Greg Davies would be the ultimate ante up to this show. He is so freaking good.
Nice to see Adrian Mole is still getting work.
Snorkel Parka rhymes with We Do Beg Your Pardon
Should be a character in a movie.
“Where did he put his rickshaw?” 🤣🤣

I knew the Snorkel Parker game was real , he preformed it in an episode of Man Down , so i knew that was true 😅These stories are just gold 😅

Did Greg mention that he used to be a teacher? He rarely mentions it
he does on graham norton show
