Magnifique... il y a aussi, pour ceux ceux qui le souhaitent, la 3eme symphonie, le festin de l'araignée, le marchand de sable...

Roussel... so criminally underrated. And Maestro & musicians here, what a brilliant presentation of his music. Thank you!

So rarely performed. I performed this work in College during my Conservatory days. It's wonderfully written and all the parts are equal in technicality. A joy to perform if done correctly.

powerful ,exciting and original music by Roussel. Together with his third symphony, this is his best score, as far as I am concerned

Stéphane Denève is the undisputed leader of the conductors of the music of Roussel. This suite of ballet begins in a mysterious atmosphere, with a viola solo, then includes much more animated sections. Denève renders perfectly the atmosphere of the music of Albert Roussel. This is precious since he was probably one of the French best composers between the two WW's with Honegger and Ravel. There were also Milhaud, Poulenc and Fl. Schmitt.

Spannende und wunderschöne Leistung dieses verborgenen Schatzes mit seidigen Töne aller Streicher und milden Töne aller Holzbläser. Dieses Werk soll viel häufiger aufgeführt und viel höher geschätzt werden.

This always sounds like movie music to me. Perhaps this piece inspired such film composers as John Williams?

If you listen to his second symphony you will definitely believe he inspired John Williams.

Fine performance, but a pity that about fifteen pages of the score have been cut near the end
