Just wanted to let you know I really like your videos. I feel more comfortable at the craps table and am more confident when placing my bets. Thank you :)
Wow this video really put the whole thing into perspective and is a game changer. Like most of us being short bankroll it gets back into the game ,Thanks a Bunch Color Up!
I appreciate your very reasonable and realistic approach to what is a "high end table ". I get so tired of the videos that show $900 or more buy ins. I can hardly afford a $15 table but sometimes that's all there is. It can get very expensive.
At the 9:45 mark, I play mostly don’t pass and come. If by chance I have a come bet out on another roll and big red rolls, I’m safe guarded significantly...a tad more than pass players. Come bets for me and if 6 & 8 are available, I make place bets on them pronto!
Two of my favorite strategies are conservative version of both a come bet and place bet system. I like a pass line bet and 1 come bet with 2x or true 3-5 x odds. I start locking up a small win when i'm up $50-$60 and steadly lock up a little each win until I get to $100. With place bets, I like to place the 6 and 8 and regress to half on both as soon as I hit either one. I start doing half press after I hit 2 or 3 more hits on either. Again I start locking up a little win once I get up $50-$60 and I shoot for a $100 win.... then go play a small poker tournament or a juicy 1-2 game on the strip.
I know it's an independent trial game and it doesn't matter, so it's mostly off of my mood. I play the pass and 1 come about 75% of the time it's a better bet, I try the place bet usually if I lose a couple times with the pass/come. What is your favorite conservative grind a moderate win with low- risk strategy?
You know what I really would like is to find a way to play an oscar's grind or a cancelation strategy with the pass/come or don't pass/don't come low vig bet? Little more of a per session bankroll needed, but I think you could enjoy a lot of winning sessions and trips if you could work it out.
That's a good combo poker snd craps! I've always been a poker player but recently came across color ups vids and tried out craps for the first time recently while in vegas. Found myself leaving the poker tables to go toss the dice! Too much fun
I do get wrapped up in the house advantage when I decide how to play. But you make a good point about Place bets in that you can pick and choose which numbers to place, directing how much action you want at any given time and can take the bets down when you want. Also, for us that are fairly new to craps, it can be a bit confusing to see where your come bet is when its moved and to remember to add odds to it. Place bets are almost bet-it-and-forget-it in terms of betting and figuring out what's going on at the table. So, I'm now more open to Place bets than before. You also make a valid point about the size of your bankroll. Losing only $22 on four place bets is less stressful than losing more from the Come and Odds bets when they fail. It's both financially and mentally draining I find.
I like to use place bets to "prime the pump" for come bets with odds. By this I mean that I will either make place bets on the six and eight, or sometimes on all the inside numbers and work them on the come out roll, or I will make place bets after a point has been established, and also make a come bet (when a point is set). When the come bet moves to a number that I have place, I will take down the place bet. This gives me the best of both worlds. I get paid the first time a number I have placed hits, then get paid on the come bets and odds if it hits again. I am making fewer of the higher house edge place bets that I would with a pure place bet strategy. This has a bit higher house edge than a come bet only strategy, but will get you ahead on a much shorter roll. Placing the five and nine is less desirable than placing the six and eight, as the five and nine place bets have a pretty steep house edge.
Hi Russ I'm new to Craps and the idea of doing a place bet after a shooter gets a 4 or 10. I don't like doing place bet or true odds then because those are the worst point a shooter can get. Your thoughts?
@@wiseman4160 It's the worst points for probability to come before 7 but the odds pays the best on those numbers since they are harder to hit. So you get paid according to the higher risk to seven out on 4 and 10. It's 2:1 for odds and 9:5 for place bets.
Yep, you sure can. But you don't get a chance to win on the 7/11 on your first roll. Which if you do the math versus the come/pass bets makes them slightly worse bets in terms of house edge. Think about it, if you bet the 6 there are 5 ways to win on the first bet and 5 ways to win moving forward. If you do a come/pass bets you have 6 ways to win on the first roll and 5 ways to win moving forward if 6 is the point. If you play odds on the come/pass line bets things even get better house edge wise.
Place bets all the way for me. I feel it is hard enough for some shooters to get one point let alone bet the Come and hope they hit a second point.....
@@ColorUp I'm new to Craps but i played Baccarat for a few years which has low house edge. Las Vegas is 5% Commission on Banker so i wait for Player to get hot. Anyways, i just learned that the more Odds you place, Lower House Edge. Like 100x's Odds is almost 0% house edge. But i don't think i would risk over 3x's odds, especially at a $25 Craps table.
I was playing at Barona where they use Cards: A,2,3,4,5,6 and the two dice rolled those numbers you add up the 2 cards. Some times it's good like easier to win the Hard bets or easier to get the 2 & 12 on Field Bets. I lost many times on Field but some shooters are hot on Field Numbers so i wait until it hits 1 or 2 times then i start betting on Field. It's Triple Pay on 12 at Barona, but Pechanga in Temecula is Double on Both 2 & 12 (Greedy Casino). I will start betting on Come and lay Odds from now on. Mostly when I'm throwing dice as i can throw longer than some of the random throwers.
While it's true that an odds bet might 'pay less' at 2 or 3x odds, keep in mind it pays during the first roll on a 7 or eleven. So it's not an apple to apples comparison.
I like a $30 Place 5 and 9. If one hits I take the winnings $35 down to my tray and convert the Place 5 and 9 to Lay 5 and 9 and pay $2 bucks for the Vig. Only need to hit one of them to come out $25 bucks up minus the $2 Vig. If both win, then it is $75 minues the $2 Vig.
I got the idea one night after a guy came out of the poker room with $3200 bucks and he placed inside and kept pressing up to over $6400 something and 7 came and he lost everything. I was thinking, what if he converted some of those over to the dark side, could have at least come out even or doubled his money and return to the poker room. Instead he walked away very mad at Craps.
Most people don't really want the truth. They just want constant reassurance that what "they believe is the truth." ( like come bettors and players that only think if you make a bet with a lower house edge they are the best bets, Some times they are not your best bets.) Good Luck at the tables, Garrison.
Yes, but your odds to roll a 7 or 11 on the initial come bet offset that quite a bit. 22% of the time you roll a 7 or 11. 11% of the time you roll craps. The amount you win on that more than offsets placing that $5 directly on that number.
I noticed you said come bet is taken off the number when it is hit. My experience has been that when the number is hit with a come bet and odds bet in place that it is not pulled off the number. Did my bet stay but is now a place bet with odds? I am confused on this part..
If you have another come bet in the come area, it will replace the current come bet on a number, and is called "off and on" and they just pay out the winnings. If you do not have a come bet in the come area, a come bet has to come down.
I like to come bet with at least 3 times odds and add to them if say I hit a yo once or twice and continue to place them so if they hit, it replaces the one it won...total profit.
Patrick Turlan well it pays better than place bet starting at $10 but every casino sets its own rules for the minimum cost to make a buy bet. I’ve played at tables that cost $10 to buy, I think $20-25 is the most common minimum to buy the 4/10
Have you ever looked at doing a hybrid of come bets that transition to place bets when the number comes up? I’ve used this to mitigate the risk of a quick 7 out. I’ve found I can build chips on the table with less risk out of the chute versus placing chips on multiple numbers.
Usually I will play come/don't come, then just play odds. The come/don't or the pass/don't pass will eliminate themselves out except for the odd 12 where I will lose the table min, but then everything else is at true odds. Also min odds can be different than min bet at some casinos. My local casino had a 10$ min bet, but 5$ was min odds. Since my come/don't come count as 20$ bet, I can put my 5$ odds on that, and pretend it is a 5$ table again pretty much. So it is something to ask for those high min bet tables. If you have a 15$ min bet table, but it is still 5$ min odds then you can play it this way like a 5$ table. They don't advertise the min odds amount, but if you ask they will let you know, only thing is make sure to put a min of 6$ on the 5/9 due to 3/2 payout. Basically this way on a long roll continuously playing come/don't come and pass/don't pass and putting min bets the most you are at risk is 32$ accross, and will get true odds on any wins. For low stakes, this is a nice strat, and you can press up from there if you like, knowing your getting true odds. The house edge here is the odd 12 that will come along and take your come/pass bet every 1/36 rolls. Otherwise you are playing at true odds with little money.
You said one line around 6min mark that tells everything you need to know about place vs come bets. "It's a 0% HE bet, but you're least likely to win" This is the fallacy of all the guys who purely rely on mathematical odds to decide what the best bet is. They don't give you free house edge. The house edge is low on come odds, because they want to entice you to make a bet that you are unlikely to win. The house does not need a mathematical edge on a bet that they will win the heavy majority of the time. Very few people seem to understand the difference between probability and likelihood. Even if you can get a table with 100x odds, you are still relying on a table where most players roll above the statistical norm of around 3 for you make any profit. At the average of 3 rolls, you're losing quite a bit of money in between lucky hot rolls where repeaters get hit.
You touched on the problem with many of these videos. I like you and CQ but these $5 bets are not helping us outside of vegas. I'm in Southern Indiana at the Horeshoe. There is never anything lower than a $15 dollar table.
You technically get paid more on the place bet, but....most people never take down their place bet. So, while you think you win more on them, you actually net winning a lot less if the number isn't rolled twice. In your example, I think you said they win $49, but you have to subtract $25 if it's only rolled once. Sooo, $24, not $49.
If I was at a higher table than usual and I somehow had to play it, I would play the don't come. It has the lowest house edge on the table, and has the advantage over the don't pass that you are not necessarily rooting for the shooter to lose. For instance, he can roll a natural and you 7 out, which is a win for both of us.
How about put bets? You don't see them very often but someone said I was crazy not to put a come bet that is taken down because of a 7 (Flat bet taken and odds returned). From what I've read they're only good if you use 10 X odds. Also the +EV on the come bet come out is very important! Any thoughts? Thank you for your videos.
As a guideline be sure that every Pass or Come line chip you wager owns the benefit of a Come-out wherein a Two-to-One advantage over Wrong bets is booked, effectively ruling out put bets.
If you can’t afford the odds on a come bet, you should never bet them. You should only play pass and come if you are able to maximize the odds. Good explanation of the differences.
The only problem I have with putting odds on the Come bet (and it's really only a small one) is that it gets returned to you when you win and you have to do it again. I put out a Come bet every roll so if the same number hits twice, another bet will come up to that number. Is there a way to ask the dealer to keep the odds on it and just pay me the winnings as long as I keep putting out a Come bet?
If your new come bet is same amount as the winning come bet, dealers will typically leave them in their place(including odds) and just pay you the winnings. this is called "off and on" The dealer will say something like "off and on for eighteen dollars" or whatever the winnings are
I like placing the six and eight after the come out. Next roll. If 6 or 8 hits with a come bet out, I take the place bet winnings and use to take double odds and keep the rest. I have 4 total numbers working. Eventually with no seven out all 3 numbers have odds. When I hit a number I make a 1 unit come bet and a one unit place bet on the number pressing up the odds as winning. Never increase the bet itself until odds are max.
You are right, they have a great business plan, keep a tiny fraction of every single wager made...well at least for some wagers, many bets they keep a large fraction. So whether individual people win or lose, they always win.
Your making my point for me. Buying the 4/10 has the same odds as taking odds. But at least you can control what happens and remove when you like. If your willing to take odds you should be willing to buy it too.
Raymond Kapala You are missing the WHOLE Point. Yes your PL bet pays even money, but it combined with odds pays better than any place bet. Plus, you win on the come out roll 22% of the time and only lose 11% (4/36) so you win twice as often.
Love your work, my good man, but the logic you used in this video is strikingly similar to what John Patrick used to vomit forth in the '90s with his collection of Craps videos and it remains flawed to this day. Every time I hear, "the 6 and the 8 are what the Come bettor would want!" I literally laugh out loud, yell at the TV and/or facepalm. Why? Because it completely sidesteps the whole point of the Come bet: 7 and 11 win on the initial roll, a huge edge on that one roll. Don't forget that benefit, that's damn near everything. I don't think this is extremely complicated: In general, people just want the shooter to roll for a long time. Hell, many times, they don't even care if the shooter eventually 7s out, as they have likely made some money, often from multiple bets. A 7, even though it's advantageous for the Come bettor on that one bet, isn't usually in the strategy, it just clears the board. As such, most just go with the shooter, go on the Pass, usually with odds and perhaps a hard way, place several bets and hope the shooter just rolls for a long ass time.

@@ryanwarner5006 Of course, but streaks do happen. It isn't like 35 rolls take place without a 12 and the next roll is guaranteed to be a 12 either.
Hey color up
Are place bets that are working on the come out vulnerable to a 7 ?
Just found out
5:09
Thanks
Yep, you got it, anything “working” would lose to a come out 7
Can you take your come bet off a number anytime at all??
no, pass line and come bets are contract bets. Rest of bets can be removed anytime
You could use a PUT bet Right on the box number you do not need the COME bet
Yes, but unless playing 10x or more in odds the math doesn’t make sense.
I play place bet if I win I add 5 if I win again I pull the number keep the cash live to play another round plus I add to other stuff
Jordan Masse PROJECT good play
I rarely lose using 3x4x5x odds with three come bets. I've had my ass kicked many times on place bets
Jesse Newby that’s why craps is so great, everyone can bet how they’re most comfortable
Jesse Newby you darn right!
Jesse Newby you're being superstitious
The logic contained in this video is why casinos will continue to offer craps in it's current form for a long time.
I discuss the pros and cons of each bet. Would love your thoughts on what I incorrectly said about each type of bet.
If you can’t afford the odds on a come bet, you should never bet them. You should only play pass and come if you are able to maximize the odds. Good explanation of the differences.
Thanks for watching.
How much is it to buy
Patrick Turlan buy what?
5%
The only problem I have with putting odds on the Come bet (and it's really only a small one) is that it gets returned to you when you win and you have to do it again. I put out a Come bet every roll so if the same number hits twice, another bet will come up to that number. Is there a way to ask the dealer to keep the odds on it and just pay me the winnings as long as I keep putting out a Come bet?
If your new come bet is same amount as the winning come bet, dealers will typically leave them in their place(including odds) and just pay you the winnings. this is called "off and on" The dealer will say something like "off and on for eighteen dollars" or whatever the winnings are
Why not do both?
you can, this video is for those people who argue one is better than the other.
Come bet because on the comeout roll if you 7 out you get your odds back
Conservative Terps710 but you loose the flat bet where the place bet is off
Also if the Puck is off, and you roll a 7, then you just lose your flat
put bets with odds also beat place bets
I hardly ever see anyone play come bets at the casino, most place bets.
If you do off and on you get paid every roll..not every other.
Yes, existing come bet that hits gets paid, and if a new come bet was made, the dealers will pay you off and on.
Don't like playing the Come bets because I play the short game and the come bet is a contract bet. You can't reduce it or pull it down.
True, you cannot reduce or pull down
Just remember..Vegas wasn't built because people win.
You are right, they have a great business plan, keep a tiny fraction of every single wager made...well at least for some wagers, many bets they keep a large fraction. So whether individual people win or lose, they always win.
it's so confusing
Come bet x)
Place bet is much better. You get to choose what number you like. Getting paid even money for a 4 and 10 sucks!
Take odds and it pays double
You still get even one your flat bet. you can buy it with less risk with the come out roll.
Raymond Kapala pass line bet has 1.41% house edge. Buy 4 or 10 has a lot higher house edge.
This is the video us degenerates need
Ha, thanks for watching
I’ve got an update video coming out today that might interest you about come bets.
@@ColorUp Thank you sir. I look forward to it. Like I said above, love your work.
