These guys did AI heads-only on my bone stock LeMans Blue ‘07 Z06 with 10k miles, early last May (they actually did an episode on it, i don’t recall which one?). I shipped it down from CT. Heads and tune ONLY, it picked up exactly 75hp to the wheels. It baselined at 444whp. After heads and tune it made 519whp. Super happy! RPM is legit!
Milo Janis i think look at at improvements over base is a big deal. If they based a 444 at the wheel that must be close considering factory 505 at the crank. 60HP parasitic loss, a bit more than 10%.

Where are you guys located? I want to buy 2008 Corvette Z06 but I want to make sure that the head and valve are fixed..How much does it cost to do the job?
If I remember correctly, I think the one last year made 505 also. I totally get why someone with such a like new car would just do the heads. Beautiful car. 👍🏻
MY $0.02, I think the that the offset on the intake and exhaust rockers are a big part of the valve issue along with the loading of the small roller trunnion bearing on the rocker during the full travel of the rocker. The witness marks on the stock rockers prove that they are not running in line, or true, or square, what ever you want to call it. If you are going to spend bucks to address the heads up it to include a shaft rocker set up. I just don't think any rocker using the stock layout is up to the task. I have seen high dollar race LS motors using the stock rockers, but when the snow fly's the motors are out, whereas us regular guys just add up miles. I might as well add I'm not crazy about plastic keeping the lifters square to the camshaft either. 2007 Z06, 9,400 miles heads done, Morel lifters, Crower shaft rockers, street car, two years ago.

It’s like trunions, people think they’re fine until they start checking.
+36hp and not potentially having to replace a $15k engine is a pretty solid win in my eyes. It's a shame when looking for one of these that hasn't already had the heads replaced you can plan to spend $5-7k on top of whatever you pay for the car. Plus, you know you are going to want to go ahead and do headers, exhaust, cam and intake while you're in there lol

I am for sure running out of places to hide things. Looks great I can’t wait to hear it run C7z !!! I would love to hear the production for the numbers it will make on motor.
So, I just got a 2013 427 Corvette Convertible. Of course I sometimes think about a set of worked over heads to get rid of the valve guide issue. I saw a set of heads (no labor) for $1,800. I've done head swaps before so don't have a problem doing it but worry about harming the resale value if I modify the car at all and don't have proof that a shop did the work. What I'd sure love to know is how much a set of heads like this cost to install with the tune. I'm guessing well over double. :( So, what, $4,000 and I'll get how much more HP? Obviously it's fixing the possible valve guide issue too.

My cousin was the QC Director in Bowling Green from 2004 until he retired in 2016 (I only mention it so you don't think I'm just another "expert" spewing BS). According to GM the LS7 heads that were affected were built by an outside vendor that only made 1,200 sets. They wouldn't even repair those affected by the "supposed" small number built by that vendor because they couldn't track which engines received which heads. Obviously, that's a load of crap as it would be very easy to figure out when those heads were received and which engines were built after that. Regardless, if the forums and car meet conversations are to be believed the number of engines affected were probably closer to 8-10 times the official estimate.
