  • The 8th Central Pay Commission in India and State govt. Employees, which is expected to affect the salaries, allowances, and pensions of central government employees, is still under discussion with various updates emerging.
As of now, the 8th Pay Commission is anticipated to be constituted, contrary to earlier rumors suggesting otherwise. Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, clarified in a Rajya Sabha session that the government is not considering abandoning the 8th Central Pay Commission. Instead, the recommendation from the 7th Pay Commission to periodically review the pay matrix without waiting ten years is being considered.
The likely implementation date for the 8th Pay Commission is January 1, 2026. One of the significant changes could be an increase in the fitment factor from 2.57 to potentially 3.68 times, which would raise the minimum salary for central government employees from ₹18,000 to ₹26,000
