I've watched all your videos here. Their emphasis on quality is what sets you apart. Your delivery is excellent too. Crack me tf up. As most good teachers do, You also imply possibilities instead of trying to dictate what should be done. Thank you for helping me get my project off the ground.
Another advantage of nested scenes is that filters can be applied to an entire scene-source. This also has potential uses on camera sources, but the way I use it is on my capture card source. Trying to use two instances of my capture card just plain doesn't work if I don't have them disable when not showing, but then I get a rather lengthy black flash as it kicks back in. So, in my example, I have the capture card in another scene and when I use that scene as a source I can apply the transparency filter I need to it and not worry about it conflicting or lagging as OBS releases and reacquires it.
9k Subscribers. Really? This is ridiculously high quality. I started Twitch streaming back in October and I'm so down to learn new tricks about OBS. That custom docks info is crazy; I'm definitely gonna integrate some of the info I usually get off the Creator Dashboard. New subscriber here; keep up the great work!
I want to get into streaming because I produce/mix music, and sim race. When it comes to filter order, it's almost the same as signal flow. Whatever is at the top is the first thing the signal (in this case, the source being filtered) sees, and it works down the line. I understood that the minute I saw a compressor as a filter option lol That per-scene audio trick earned this video an early like. I realize that I'm new to the streaming world, and so this video might have been pretty bland for advanced streamers, but it was a lot of help for me! Thanks for uploading!
That muffled Sound Transition when you switch the Scene wiith that Audio Plugin totally blew my mind :D And also the info that arranging Filters affect each other, damnnnnnn.... Keep the funny Videos coming Brother, your Quality and Entertainment is flawless.
dude thanks for the tip on the audio for different scenes, been bugging me for ages at this point and recently i had to wipe my pc and lost my stream settings for scenes and everything (only backed up encoding data so bit duh for me lol) so can actually set it up right now thanks
I recently realized the power of nested scenes and can't believe I used to just have every source in one scene. I also didn't know about the per scene audio, so I'll be changing that before my next stream! I found your channel because of the Motion Plugin video. I then forgot about it for a few weeks and RUclips recommend another video of yours. I then watched everything you made, subscribed, and implemented a few of them into my stream. Love your way of explaining things. Not super dumbed-down and not super technical. Just right in the Goldilocks zone.
Amazing job with these videos Nutty, they are really great and I learn a lot from them. I use many of these tricks in my own streaming and I appreciate you for taking your time to make these videos, they have got to be difficult to edit. You are doing great however and I hope you get many subscribers soon!
Nutty love ya bro! I just set up the screen nesting and you are 100% right grouping sucks looks nasty AND when you go and do other scenes well then you have to re do the groups. Thank you for showing me (us) how to do this! keep them coming!
Loved these tricks. Nested was the major improvemente, plus plugins. Thank you, it's a general improvement to all streamers content like this. Deserve much more views.
Thank you!!! The microphone muting / unmuting double-clicks were making me too tired to even stream 😂🤣 Funny and informative. Liked and subbed! Cheers mate!
Wow, I made it early. Your videos are awesome, informative and entertaining. Great job. I'm just starting out streaming, right now I'm just streaming off the twitch app on my Xbox because my computer is a potato (oof) but I'm having a new PC built and once I do I'll be able to run OBS and use these tips!
just wondering you should make a video on how you setup your mutiple camera setup ive been wanting to do a top view for so long but i dont know what type of camera i should use or what would be the best way to set it up honestly like should i use a go pro a webcam like what would be best for the idea of this
HI ♥ @nutty 7:40 you talking about adding or not adding mic to scene but what if you wana mute that mic i cant mute mine when i do this because deckboard dont support muting this way it only regcognize audio device or i can turn off source witch is buggy because it can show or will not show and sometimes need to reload scene
No Cap OBS should hire you, ive switch to OBS thx to your videos and I have learned so much more than with other tutorials just watching your videos...
I'm currently setting up a second YT channel purely for streaming and find all of these tips incredibly helpful. I need a how to stream for dummies series Lol
New to your channel, have always thought about making RUclips channel / streaming but always been intimidated a bit about it. Learnt some really good tips and tricks.
I’m so glad I found your channel. Very informative and easy to follow and nice to listen to! I like your style! Please keep on creating content :)! You’re being a great help to me! Only just started streaming, so there’s still lots to learn for me!
how do you swap between your desktop and your camera w/o hotkeys, i see so many people doing it and i don't know how, the only way i can think of is using 2 recording softwares and syncing them
Did not know about nested scenes, looks better than groups :-) I also got bored of forgetting to mute and unmute the mic but I went with another solution. If you got an streamdeck, I just turned my scene buttons into multi actions and set the mic with a small delay to mute on the break and start screen and unmute on all others :-)
The powerful feature about nested scenes vs. groups is that if you nest a scene and you change it, it changes in ALL the scenes where that nested scene is used. Which is not the case with groups, which are just copies of the same sources.
Dude, I am a total newb trying to learn all this stuff. Thank you so much for your total newb basic video. New subscriber headed to watch another one of your videos.
I used to live in Hawaii , Waikiki Beach and you remind me of a BF I had there, but you are Fun to watch and very informative . Yes I am new to all this, trying my best to absorb it all. Thanks for these new OBS tricks .
How do you get the audio mixer to show bars if everything is disabled in the audio settings? I'm unable to record the desktop audio even after adding it to the scene. I also see no bars in the audio mixer for the scene.
The difference is negligible at best. Of course, more complex scene compositions will require more resources from your GPU for rendering, but you won't notice a difference if your scenes aren't too complex.
Thx for the upload! What is your camera ISO setting on? My A6100 doesn’t seem as clear/bright.... but I’m pretty sure my settings need tweaking.. I have elgato keylight, just behind the camera facing me. Hmmmm
The per scene audio is one of the biggest tips. I'm left wondering how you did the kind of "fade" transition with the reaper plug-in. Like it slowly goes into that low pass filter, and it's not a sudden change. Since it's using an external VST something like "Move Value" wouldn't work... Any help? PS: Nevermind, apparently OBS does this automatically. If anyone else was wondering, here's more info: obsproject.com/forum/threads/fading-audio-between-scenes.122722/#:~:text=If%20you%20do%20a%20RMB,exist%20on%20the%20net%20scene.
Just starting streaming .... I appreciate your personality brother 💪 .... haven’t heard anyone state the nesting over grouping purpose elsewhere with such a great example
Great video as always, question though. You’ve mentioned having a spotify playlist in the background of your streams, how do you do that without getting copyright flagged by the platform your on?
Hello bro! Wanted to ask you about mirroring. So, I was streaming using OBS and I used apowermirror (Phone to PC). My questions is that, how to capture the game audio on the phone without turning on your microphone? Btw, I am a newbie on this streaming field. Pardon me. Hope you can help me.
dude you're dope for doing this, thank you! btw i couldn't find a video of you showing us how to install stream fx.. i just want the blur effect on my obs streamelements ;(
Hello, I am in need of setting up 2-3 scenes and be able to toggle between them, but have them have their own sound and then send it out through zoom. Please any help.
This is an awsome vid!!! I even bookmarked it!!!! Thank you sooooooooooooooo much!!! Would LOVE TO KNOW the best setup for streaming!!! Thank you again and I just subbed!!!!!
Someone can help me? When I create a new copy of an application audio output, that one doesn't receive audio, only the first one that I made its what haves audio, happening when try to have Spotify on different levels between scenes.
Did learn something, yes. Also, you have found some nice ways to deal with the jump-cut issues when cutting to the same camera, which is often problematic.
Can you tell me if i can stream with an i3 8300 with gtx 1650 super and 16gb ddr4 ram? i want to use animated overlays. i know i have to stream at 720p. So is it possible?
Just starting out in OBS with live streaming, I’m old skool so some things I can’t take in with OBS haha. I’m running 4 C920’s for a radio show & I was looking at getting a ATEM mini, but will a elgato work just as good to swap cams? Any help of much appreciated 🤙🏻😊
An ATEM Mini connects HDMI devices, no? If you're using USB webcams, just plug them all in and set hotkeys to enable/disable the ones you want active. You may likely run into bandwidth issues though, as webcams use a lot of bandwidth and could saturate the USB controller on your motherboard.
Cool video, taught me about the disabling audio devices and adding them to each source, that's pretty neat, certainly going to use it! Sorry about the eczema bro :|
Had issues with my audio today on my very first stream lol, should of watched this video! Idk how I managed to skip over this video, I've watched like all your content!
I wanted to use nested scenes, but had no idea for what. Now, I have one: I have scenes for different resolutions, but the Alert Box is always the same. I also have a channel logo, which always the same, and use filters ( :) ), it can go to scenes as well... hmm...
Hello Nutty! Awesome videos my guy, but Curious if you know.. if the OBS Tools Plugin is only available on PC?? I am using a mac and I have not been able to find it. Well, I found it on the website for the elgato streamdeck but when I search for the tool using the downloaded stream deck app I can't find it. Also, when I try to download the app from the website it says not available to download. I'm super bumped because I got the zoom effect to work but can't activate it with my stream deck :/
I have 2 cams but every time I set up a scene for my second cam it override the first one. I'm trying to use cam 2 as a small border so when I go live my audience can see the main cam and the cam 2 on the lower left corner at the same time. I hope I am explaining this correctly.
Here I have to thank you regarding browsers (custom browser docks). Such a small tip, and I think it will be useful if I want custom OBS, as I would like. Thanks ^^
I've learned a lot, thanks as always dude. But I do have a question, at 8:22 you're talking about your audio with a filter applied to it in another scene. But how did you manage that? Because I've been trying and it changes both audio, not only the second one that is supposed to be muffled. Can you help me on that? Thanks again man, you're just awesome!
Can you add alert boxes and stuff like that in OBS? That's one of the reasons I gravitated to SLOBS was all of the little wigits that made my life easier but lately I've been having issues with Game Capture and a few other things so it would be nice to use the original OBS. Also that custom browser thing looks so awesome! Thanks for putting this video together! Subbed!
How many of you learned something new in this video?
now watching
Haven't watched all of it yet. What camera setup and audio setup are you using?
@@BibleBreakout Camera: Panasonic G7 + Sigma 16mm F/1.4
Microphone: Rode NT1 + GoXLR
I didn't realize there was custom browser docks...will be very helpful
I can’t read
I've watched all your videos here. Their emphasis on quality is what sets you apart. Your delivery is excellent too. Crack me tf up. As most good teachers do, You also imply possibilities instead of trying to dictate what should be done. Thank you for helping me get my project off the ground.

Keep the funny Videos coming Brother, your Quality and Entertainment is flawless.
man you are hilarious, the "redacted" was by far my favorite part of the video. I almost spit my drink over my keyboard.
dude thanks for the tip on the audio for different scenes, been bugging me for ages at this point and recently i had to wipe my pc and lost my stream settings for scenes and everything (only backed up encoding data so bit duh for me lol) so can actually set it up right now thanks
I don't know but your sense of humor in the first 30 seconds alone along with being informative cleary got you a sub for life ;)
I just switched from Streamlabs OBS to OBS Studio and I was exactly looking for Customer Browser Docks! Thanks Nutty!
i'm a beginner, i had no idea about that scene nesting thing. i'm gonna do that from now on, thanks nutty.
Probably the most useful video for streamers I have ever seen. Been streaming for 2 years but man, you just changed everything for me. Your amazing!
I recently realized the power of nested scenes and can't believe I used to just have every source in one scene. I also didn't know about the per scene audio, so I'll be changing that before my next stream!

I suck at the computer design stuff but i know i need my streams to visually look better. Very nice videos!

Fastest I've subscribed to someone in awhile, props to your video and hard work!! This vid has helped me a lot haha
Hy nutt ! if we are playing a source video clip how do we know whats the time its gonna end ? can we get a count down for it ?
Not sure what you mean by this, maybe drop it in the Discord with an example
just wondering you should make a video on how you setup your mutiple camera setup ive been wanting to do a top view for so long but i dont know what type of camera i should use or what would be the best way to set it up honestly like should i use a go pro a webcam like what would be best for the idea of this

One, if not the best, youtuber ive seen in a long while! Funny and informative! Like it!
This video is so helpful! I'm going to use the mask filter for the high school play this fall. Thanks.
I'm currently setting up a second YT channel purely for streaming and find all of these tips incredibly helpful.
I need a how to stream for dummies series Lol
I started watching this thinking I know quite a bit about OBS as is.... then you straight up call me out! Lol
LOOOL
PETER
Awesome video! Just started using OBS studio and this was super helpful!
also, would you know how to do like an auto scene switcher by scenes in obs ?? I'm learning all the stream moves and tricks lol
@9:10 I wanna know how you smoothly transitioned audio filters. Mine just cut to the next scenes audio filters.
With the circle.png mask is there a way to move the mask around? Or do you have to edit the circle.png?
Unfortunately not, you'll need to do that on the .png file itself.
New to your channel, have always thought about making RUclips channel / streaming but always been intimidated a bit about it. Learnt some really good tips and tricks.
I am just now switching from slobs to obs after watching several of your videos so all these tips are really helpful
I am super new to streaming and will rewatch this a couple times. Your content is informative, useful, and entertaining. Thank you!
I’m so glad I found your channel. Very informative and easy to follow and nice to listen to! I like your style! Please keep on creating content :)! You’re being a great help to me! Only just started streaming, so there’s still lots to learn for me!

You are super engaging dude... just starting my twitch channel but been on RUclips for a while now.. thanks for the super helpful tips

Thx for the video! How do you make the browser secure so I can login the browser dock?
Really helpful video my dude! Thanks for this! If you can, please make a video on why you prefer regular OBS over streamlabs. Thanks!
Great and informative. I just started all this streaming stuff from scratch and it's been a little daunting to say the least.
I like your honesty and style, no fancy technical crap like some youtubers
This was informative (I did not fully comprehend everything -- I'm new to OBS), but more than that, this was funny and entertaining! :)
nested scenes are so much better than groups, and ESSENTIAL for some green screening stuff
tbh i thought you had 100k+ subs but you only have 12k. KEEP UP THE WORK CUS I LOVE IT
Thanks for the info! 🙏 I’m pretty new to the streaming and this is definitely a big help 💯
Dude, I am a total newb trying to learn all this stuff. Thank you so much for your total newb basic video. New subscriber headed to watch another one of your videos.
Another straight to the point, super useful video! You are my single source of OBS goodness! Thank you 👍👍👍
Fricken, awesome video. Super helpful man. keep um coming!
That custom dock helps out immensely!! Thanks bro! Subbed because of it!
Great Video!! does anyone know if Scene nesting uses more CPU?
The difference is negligible at best. Of course, more complex scene compositions will require more resources from your GPU for rendering, but you won't notice a difference if your scenes aren't too complex.
What dimensions should the mask layer be? When I try the circle top and bottom gets cut off or it gets too small :(
Thx for the upload! What is your camera ISO setting on? My A6100 doesn’t seem as clear/bright.... but I’m pretty sure my settings need tweaking.. I have elgato keylight, just behind the camera facing me. Hmmmm
ISO= 500 / F/1.4 / SS = 1/60
nutty • StreamGood could you look at the vid I just uploaded.... does my speaking part look “too dark”?
can I use 1 camera 2 diffrent ways? One with a circle mask and it in another scene without the mask?
Thank you once again for the awesome video! I feel like I learn something every time I watch/rewatch a video!

Love your dry sense of humor....You just got yourself a new Aussie sub .
Just starting streaming .... I appreciate your personality brother 💪 .... haven’t heard anyone state the nesting over grouping purpose elsewhere with such a great example
First time watching one of your videos - totally engaging, concise, and really cool. PROPS!
Bro you can use 3.5mm from your phone to 3.5mm jack on pc input. But you should have an audio splitter to separate mic and audio from your phone
dude you're dope for doing this, thank you! btw i couldn't find a video of you showing us how to install stream fx.. i just want the blur effect on my obs streamelements ;(
Should be linked as a card in the video. If not, it was in one of my 5 OBS plugins videos (I'd link it but I'm tired lmao)
Hello, I am in need of setting up 2-3 scenes and be able to toggle between them, but have them have their own sound and then send it out through zoom. Please any help.
!! custom browser dock just changed my life, cheers!
Is everyone going to overlook the fact that you have E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on?!?! You got me subbing just for that sir.
This is an awsome vid!!! I even bookmarked it!!!! Thank you sooooooooooooooo much!!! Would LOVE TO KNOW the best setup for streaming!!! Thank you again and I just subbed!!!!!
awesome video! just subbed. thank you for all the help
Someone can help me? When I create a new copy of an application audio output, that one doesn't receive audio, only the first one that I made its what haves audio, happening when try to have Spotify on different levels between scenes.
OMG! thank you for the Audio tip! lmao i for real was getting annoyed by clicking them on and off between my BRB and game play scenes.
Great video man. its always good to go through the basics.👨🎓
Yes, it is possible.
Great video man, like the way you talk and teach!
Hey Nutty, 1 question I have is at 4:08 your Scenes section has what looks like text dividers ---- RECORDING ---- how are you doing that?
It's just another blank scene which he named "----- RECORDING -----" :)
Loving your videos. So I subscribed :)
Ohhhhh big fan sir
I wanted to use nested scenes, but had no idea for what. Now, I have one: I have scenes for different resolutions, but the Alert Box is always the same. I also have a channel logo, which always the same, and use filters ( :) ), it can go to scenes as well... hmm...
"You Can Add Scenes.....To Scenes.." Me: Head Falls Off, Shits Pants
lol
This was really helpful to watch. Thank you!
Windows only. Fortunately, the Stream Deck has native filter support, so no need for the OBS Tools Plugin anymore.
I have 2 cams but every time I set up a scene for my second cam it override the first one. I'm trying to use cam 2 as a small border so when I go live my audience can see the main cam and the cam 2 on the lower left corner at the same time. I hope I am explaining this correctly.
Thx for your Videos! Keep up the good work. ;-) Your #OBS #Turtorials are awesome. Warm und nice greetings from Germany!
Scene nesting is dope, been looking for that for a long time. Thanks dude.
can you still get streamlabs without obs? I went on their site and can only download streamlabs obs.
Love your content👌🏽 keep up the good work.
Great video, well executed and easy to understand. Found your channel through Harris' new video. Such much great content here thank you! :)
How did you do per scene audio filters?
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
How to use processed audio from OBS(with vst filters) for zoom ?
