Great info. Lovely work again. You asked about recommendations for other nice places along the Shannon system. We particularly love Acres Lake in Drumshanbo and Portrunny on Lough Ree.

Nice to see new video and hear your plans for season, (I’ll be grinding and painting and hopefully fitting a new engine) I was wondering if you have ever used the Royal or Grand canal as it would be my intention to sail from Belfast to Dublin and use whichever was best to gain access to Shannon on route to Lough Erne?
    Cheers

Hi Paul, I've done the Grand from Dublin city to the Shannon but not in Driftwood. It's only suitable for shallow draft boats (2" ish). Weed is also a big problem unless you go in winter. Check with Waterways Ireland for max dimension Etc. You might be better to consider trucking it to the Erne or else going all the way to Limerick. Glad you enjoyed the video.

If you can, talk to Pat Lysaght in Limerick, he's the man on the ground who can give you the best advice on exactly when on the tide to be getting under the bridges.

Hi Andy, I was actually talking to Pat a few weeks ago. He is a great fountain of knowledge and always happy to give up his time to help boats into Limerick. Really looking forward to the trip, Limerick's a great spot. Ta

Ah good stuff, I'm looking at getting a SOT Kayak myself. I wan to explore some out of the way places. Paddling is nice and relaxing and I enjoy the solitude too (sometimes!)
