“If you can put fire inside the mouth of a gnorp, what about bullets?” That has to be some of the most progressive and innovative thinking seen in recent history.
Gonna go out on a limb and guess the aforementioned apalogue we will learn of is 'dont hit the weird rock that not only never loses mass but also seems sentient' cautionary tale when said rock awakens and turns out to be some eldritch god and eats all Gnorps for all the hitting. XD
This is a game with a surfeit of character and polish. You are the fourth person whose coverage I'm watching - this is unusual outside the most variable and deep sorts of games, which I'd count as a compliment for (the) Gnorp Apologue
Yeah all the things you said both about specifically holding out on prestiges and other similar things in general for these games were so relatable. I understand I'm not actually being more efficient with my time and I really should prestige sooner rather than later, but I just feel like I have to keep being stubborn and pushing forward as far as I semi-reasonably can
I can definitely appreciate both perspectives on prestiging. Rationally I know that if that third or fourth point takes as long (or longer) to gain as the points before it then prestiging makes more sense. But I too am stubborn. And perhaps more importantly, I dislike the repetition of the early setup after each prestige. Trading idle time for frequency of early setup, there's merit for prestiging late rather than early. As such avoiding burning out on the game.
Yeah, I address that a bit later in the video (totally got distracted by things to click early on, but meant to comment on how much more there is to do after beating the game when I first mentioned it at the start of the video XD)
Aavak's honey sweet voice combined with a clicker game with lore? Where do I sign the petition, because I need more of this too in my life! But with one caveat: no more F8 mode... It has fried my brain so badly I cannot leave my regular comment, because that part of my brain are overloaded!
In my runs of (the) gnorp apologue I've found that missile damage, at least in the later stages of the game where I am, far outweighs anything else in terms of damage, especially after applying ice buildup (which, with the supershatter perk, can be absolutely insane). I've actually found that the fire is pretty good in terms of the mid-game, but tends to fall off cause it doesn't really scale. The GPL I feel is pretty underwhelming by itself, but the extra stuff it unlocks is essential (esp. the combo stuff)
I find Missiles to be a trap. Sure, they increase your damage to the rock and allow you to progress in compression events faster, but that comes with two problems. First, it tends to greatly outpace your rate of collection so most of the shards end up wasted, or worse, recollected by the rock which reverses your progress to more talents points after repeated collection events. You can prevent the recollection by spending the zybellium you earned on prevention, but that mostly is spending resources to bring you back to square one. Second, it eats shards directly from your collection, and damage tends to be easier to scale than collection even without rockets, so you end up slowing down your rate of progress for a bonus that is mostly redundant. Finally, I'm not entirely sure on this last one, but the shards sent to your rockets don't seem to progress your talent points. Runs I don't have rockets tend to advance my talents around twice as quickly as runs were I build them. In good setups, I've turned on rockets as an experiment and watched as my prestige progress went from seconds away from a talent point back to the start of the bar with no progress within minutes.
@@TheoryInfinity I usually tend to compensate with drones + 1 zygnorp, even one with the drone buff can outpace basically any other type of collection, although I would like to hear what you do to compensate for the lost missile damage.
@@Starwar111ITA Depends on the stage of the game and how many talent trees are active. Like you mentioned, In early stages and middle stages fire is a pretty good option. Stack on 2.5x fire damage with arrows and fire breathing gnorps and you are already set. Middle stages once you get access to doubled arrows and future to the back, specing into bullets becoming arrows with future to the back and having a chance for bullets to become missiles already has a massive damage output even before including bullet breath in the mix. Add in explosive missile arrows and you can even benefit from vulnerability if you choose (just build a silo and turn off missile production). Late game, time warp bombers with time warp pocket rockets can usually carry the damage I technically "need" to match my gathering with the added benefit of making runners glitch at extradimensional speed for even more collection. Add in ice, acid, and multipliers as necessary, and more gattlers if I feel like throwing extra zybellium at the pile. Just don't grab supershatter. That's not to say I find missiles produced with resources useless. The great part about them is you can turn them off and on at will. To me, they mean with the flip of a switch I can lose 20--70% of my production in order to reach the next compression event whenever I need instead of telling all my runners and mountaineers to go home while losing 80-100% of it. This is especially useful when I'm trying to actively throttle my damage late game in order to get the extra zybellium from not compressing and then stacking your compressions in a short time. I concede I have never tried a full runner build with entirely population spent on runners making missiles, zygnorps to pick up the slack, and then damage multipliers like ice arrows and acid as the only real non-missile damage. That seems like it could be good since I wouldn't be splitting my gnorps away from gathering jobs, just splitting their gathering. It might sum up as a difference in perspective. I'm very firmly in the mindset of "What's the point of making shards if they can't be collected? What's the point of zybellium if what it buys won't quite yet offset the scaling negative progress?" Before getting the talent points I need, talents are my primary goal. Before then, dealing damage feels like a negative unless I already have damage control in place.
@@TheoryInfinity I love all incremental games that make you want to think instead of just making the numbers go up. Also, gotta try that future to the back build, never really messed with it.
I don't think Apologue means apology, though can see why you'd think that lol It's more of a moralistic story. Think Saturday morning cartoons. An adventure wrapped around a message; like "Don't be a bully" etc.
I dunno if I'm easily entertained or because I've watched the YTer DangerouslyFunny for so long but I tend to like watching clicker games. Though between this and Microcivilization, clickers have been hitting the pucks through the goal posts and shooting the touchdowns into the goals! Also Aavak you dastardly sadist, how dare you keep the secrets of the F8 from us!
I pressed F8 to test it, it wasn't too bad, but yes I did change it back haha, at least it didn't do what I thought it would of done, but then again I was thinking of alt - f4 for some unknown reason
You know, I watched two other people play this game and only YOU actually made it interesting... for me, anyways, not speaking for anyone else... :v Also, new lesson learned; Prestige often and early... :Y Also-also, F. F8, even. Poor souls... I would have done it, too. :s
bah, nothing wrong with holding off for the prestige coins, is it the most efficient? no, but you're having fun doing it, I dunno about anyone else but I buy my games to have fun, not just to be efficient and just play the meta.... not really so applicable here but getting stuck into only playing the meta strats can kill games for me.
F's in comments for all who did not heed the F8 warning XD

Well, this game is not my cup of tea, so I’ll just gnorp it on out of here… but good on ya who it is their cup of tea.

That explains so much about so many games…

I keep slamming my head against St Algorithmus pedestal, yet no shards of a second episode have broken off. Must. Slam. Harder.
Have you tried slamming your head against a statue of St. Algorithmus?

I appreciate the "Lakmé - Duo des fleurs" music ☺

How fast that video went, it did not feel like over an hour long video!!!
This is fun, I'd love to watch more!
That was so fun! I do hope that there is more in our future!
Fun little game. Missed your voice so I had to click to check it out. Your enthusiasm made my watch incredibly worth it. Thanks for the fun! 🙂
Very glad you enjoyed the video :)
When you search a game and aavak pops up, your search for a playthrough is over. Simple as that
I love your calm yet excited approach and your ability to actually read the instructions presented. I hope for another episode

It's a fun little game. It's surprisingly short, but I've heard there's plans for additional content.

I really enjoyed this! More?
I believe there have already been more of these, but I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this video and would like to see more. Thank you :)
Best explanation of Gnorp Apologue. But have the Gnorps done that needs apologising for? I think this lore needs to be explored.
I don't think Apologue means apology, though can see why you'd think that lol

The moral of the story is that they have to apologise to the rock though
