Could be the internal filter disc inside the pump, take the pump cover off , remove and clean the crud off the screen with a tooth brush and carb cleaner, that fixed mine, and it sounded the same as yours. Also had a bearing fail in the fan/pump motor that made noise as well, you can get a generic bearing and rebuilt it, the number is on the bearing.

Thank you John, I was able to find a new pump and motor (and I have been buying several other parts too), just trying to make it a few more weeks like this. The newer Riello burners are much easier to work on, but this one will have to do for a while!

Replace the burner motor. Takes a little time but that's the issue.

Vic, it was the Bearings on the Rt side of the motor. They are on ebay for $13.00 for the pair, or you can buy the complete motor for about $135.00 ...I bought both, and a new Pump for $125.00 Ebay & Amazon have them from several suppliers. There was also an "Emergency Repair Kit" that has most parts that go bad, and now sells for $350 ...if you can find one. It comes in a Red Toolbox, and it is well worth it for all the parts included. Check Patriot Supply in Plainview, N.Y. They have been good to me. (Right now, with Oil at $6.00 a gallon, I just run it when I need the hot water).

@@joeprete7424 Thank you! This is extremely helpful info. I'm hoping the weather gets better here and will only need to fire this thing up for another couple of days.

Hi great vid. Was it the blower fan bearing on right side? Not the fuel oil pump with strainer filter on left side.

@@joecvids82 i just replaced my motor and wheel a couple of weeks ago. it was not bad at all. the worst part as the mounting screws for the pump. apparently the previous installer used the wrong size (bigger) and just forced it in and thus i had to look in the old "screw/nuts" box that fits the new motor. on a side note mine started making the noise since winter 2022. i temporarily kept it at bay for a few months by spray silicone spray into the wheel and it quiet it for a few months. then a few weeks ago it was no longer spinning "freely" and thus i took the jump to replace it myself. I had a hard time finding someone in my area to do it. When i did find someone they wanted to replace the whole assembly (nearly $2k). And this other guy insists he do an analysis first at $600. i took a video of it but have yet to upload it. feel free to ask me any questions. good luck!

@viclew9311 hey thanks. The wheel you referring to is the air blower on the right, the one that moves open to suck in air?

The (Red Box) maintenance kit is good to have, but they are very expensive when they come up for sale. I hope you got the guide and diagrams that originally came with it. I’ve been buying individual parts to have ready, just in case.

@joeprete7424 na no guide or diagram came w this red box. only issue I had well 2. is there was some extra parts one was for a conversion.. and then it had 2 black gaskets that looked like rubber bands. but the main issue I had was w the new oil pump that screws into the back of the motor. the bottom screw fit perfect but the top screw gave me an issue by time I got done getting screw down on top where it's supposed to tighten up and keep things from vibrating or coming loose. all the screw did was spin freely I called the company I ordered it from they want me to send a pic now I gotta go back to take a pic it's like 500$ was just spent on this red box wth they think this is a toy?? send me new part so it can get swapped and the new damaged one can get sent back w a paid for shipping label. very simple. but it really wasn't hard at all for me to do the parts swap for everything. actually I'm going to take it apart again and do a video. but I will ask this company about a manual or what the 2 black gaskets are for and the other piece believe it was a brass piece but may be for the nipple where you bleed oil to get air out .. I'll find out but the unit after install ran very well

@@wildman8601 did you check the threads? You can troubleshoot by trying the screws into the threads without the pump. If they don’t go in easily, try switching them. I don’t recall if they are exactly the same. Just don’t force anything. I can look for my papers in the morning, and I can try to send them to you. Don’t be discouraged, while this is not the best designed burner, it can be mastered. I hope it’s not too cold in your area, but the truth is that these things break down at the worst possible times. Mine is for heat and hot water. I will check back about 9:00 AM. Be careful if you need to use an electric heater!
