I've been using those kokuyo notebooks religiously for my notes, but I've never thought to use one as a sketchbook! :> Its also so nice to see another sketching video from you, it reminds me of some of your older RISD vlogs, but so much calmer
using the kokuyo binder as a sketchbook is such a fun idea! i've also been getting back into sketchbooking and it's honestly so fun to just doodle and draw without any particular end product in mind 💖
I like your placement of Hotdog on the pages. Odd numbers are pleasing to the eye. I like that you married marker and colored pencil. The marker is your graphic influence, and the pencil adds beautiful detail.
As I’ve been drawing I’ve often had breaks that had months or years and always got back into it and picked up where I left off. I discovered each time I did, the more confident I was the easier it was for me. I think it’s not something you can lose I think the skill very much depends on your mindset and I think what I’ve benefit the most from is not giving myself any expectations or rules. Lately I’ve been more inspired by the practices of more abstract artists. It hasn’t changed my style a much but it’s changed the way I go about things. Often when I dislike something I leave it alone for a few days and look at it with fresh eyes and I have changed my mind.
Also I’ve been in the same boat I think school tends to push its ideas onto you and make it less fun. I need to be free to be creative. If I want to do something I need a mentor to help me figure out the best way, not talk me into doing something easier to market.
I'd say give yourself more credit. You're an amazing artist. Your art is your own and we are always our own worst critic. I 100% support whatever direction you're taking it. I love your work, and Im sure many others do also. Stay up. High key, be that b****!!!❤✌🏽😁 an opinion you didnt ask for
