Asics mastered the perfect trainer in Superblast. They are lightweigh, stable, cushioned, responsive, all that you need in a marathon training shoe in the same package.
I have a serious pronation problem with my left leg/foot and Superblast is working very well for me in that aspect. And in general it is for me the best trainer of all the shoes I have (so far) and I have a lot of different shoes.
SC trainers are way more squishy, I’d say that’s the most note-able difference to get on with for your preference. I like the firmness of the kinvara pro much more, the SC trainer is just too mushy, even with the plate.
Thanks for the video Fordy As a runner who is super sensitive to weight in shoes- just to note there is a significant weight difference here 8.4 for the superblast vs 9.8 for the Kinvara I love the superblast for their low weight for the amount of foam you get This is another big factor for many in their purchase decision Thanks again !
Apart from its mass, the only complaint with the Superblast is the fit is not quite perfect for me, had 2 different sizes now but it is manageable, and is my most used shoe at the minute. It ticks off everything very well even pb’d my 10k in it doing a baseline test 😆. Slightly less stack and slimmed down a tad, would that give it even more range as a super trainer 🤔
Superblast is amazing. Definitely can race in my Superblast because of the low weight and excellent energy return plus so stable. But I am a Saucony fan. I have the Ride 15, Triumph 20, Speed 2 and 3, Pro 3.. So will get the Kinvara Pro as well 😂
@@FordyRuns I have the bright green original ones and the new lilac/Pastel green ones are definitely smaller (i measured them) They are kind of halfway between the OG sizes.
Has anyone ever stuck a powerrun plus sock liner in a speed3? I have the ride 15 and exodus which both use them but wondering if it would fell “too soft” if I switch the insoles with my speed 3?
I think Ed Budd did this? There’s a vid on his channel about modifying shoes. I tried it but think my feet are too high volume. Worked well in a Tempus wide though with a bit more material in the upper.
Superblast has become really firm and flat after 210KM. Is it just me as I have not seen people complaining about problems with the foam in the past? I am not a heavy runner either. Do you think that Kinvara Pro is as forgiving for legs? I need to make sure I have something safe and stable that will not aggravate PF as well. Not sure if the plate will be a problem or it will extend my toes too much with the toe spring?

agree
Agreed. I have it. If I was to carry one shoe for vacation and train during vacay, it would be the Superblast.
Just got the Superblast (went down half a size) and after a couple of runs I can see this working for a bit of everything, including races.

Great video as always. Would love to see a comparison between the Kinvara pro and the SC trainer v2 as well!
I agree. Personally I think that is probably the closest comparison.

Not tried the kinvara but I’m loving the superblast for my Berlin m plan
its a great shoe
Thanks for the video Fordy

welcome mate
I'm going for 3.30 marathon this year need a shoe that can do it all
Was listening to Old Man Van running on his video and he said the superblast is ok for people that slightly overpronate - tempted with the superblast

both great shoes
Superblast replace the Speed 3 for me. For some reason I don't get on with those. Love the Saucony EP3 for races though.
@@Fozzee.1970 Speed 3 is mushy after an hour or so.. Superblast stays fresh over 40k.
@@i.p2088 i find the Speed 3 mushy and flat on the forefoot. Do not enjoy them at all. Preferred the 1 and 2.
SC Trainer crying in the corner 😂 Definitely should’ve been included in this video 😎
Good afternoon. Excellent comparison. Like to Fordy. I like Kinvara 14..... the pro??? I don't know. A nice weekend for everyone.🌞🏃🌞
Thanks, you too!
Superblast is not ”just over 300 grams” as you said, it’s 240g (8.4 oz) in US9 so very light, and much lighter than the Knwara Pro.
not in my size .... i am not referencing sample sizes otherwise i would have said
Fair enough, but it’s still way under 300g 🙂
A very informative video! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Superblast all the way. Just watch those new colourways they are slightly smaller than the original colourways. They are more true to size now.
this colourway I have feel ok but interesting you mention it

How’s the upper of the pro? The super fast cause irritation on my pinky toes once I pick up the speed in them.
Pro upper is better
I still think that getting a deal on something like the New Balance RC Elite V.2 (£125) is a better option than going new version of anything
fair enough

Its very possible that with the Superblast Asics has created a new type of super shoe.
agree
I don't think they're the same weight, Superblast significantly lighter
You may have made a mistake about the weight of the Superblast...
Any reason to have both? 😊
no one of the other
prefer superblast
great shoe
Kivara with 30 grams less would be the shoe of the decade
The Kinvara Pro is getting pooped on by some of the other big name influencers...is it a good shoe or not? Using the Kinvara name seems VERY silly.
upto them i ran 16 mile long run in them it was a joy
I love em
Seriously the winner is asics superblast! in terms of outsole winner is asics, the powerrun pb in kinvara pro is not durable.
the asics is slippery
@@FordyRuns oh?but in terms of durability mate
