@Washing Machine. You need to educate yourself a bit more before making comments like that. You clearly have no clue on how these leather skins are acquired. Enjoy your mass factory produced cheap synthetic shoes and leave us to admire the quality and craftsmanship of quality footwear.
" You clearly have no clue on how these leather skins are acquired."....ok..then enlighten me...tell me how obliging were the animals ...that they themselves unzipped their skins and gave it to apreciators of the art of shoemaking...like seen in bugs bunny cartoons....tell me how these animal skins were acquired...
For the record, animals have always been used by humans for all sorts of needs and luxuries such as food, clothing, etc. This has been going on long even before the great pyramids were even made. Think about it, ethnic tribes, royals, regular people of the past, they all used animals. Some literally wear wolves. And I'm pretty sure it was more brutal back in time. At least now, everything has modernized and all companies have already taken measures to remain as humane as possible.
You just can't help but admire the excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into the making these shoes. That shoemaker needs a medal.
This brings back my childhood memories. My father used to own a handmade shoe factory. I used to visit the factory and used to be in owe on how much workmanship goes into making something so unique, beautiful and comfortable.
I've recently started my own leather good business and am mostly making watch straps, belts and card holders at this stage but would love to one day be able to make shoes! Watching your videos along with others really inspired me to start leathercrafting, your shoes are beautiful and I will definitely buy one at some point.
The only advice I can give you is learn as much as you can. Find a shoe maker in your town that does this and become his Apprentice. That's how you're going to learn to be a master. Don't ever give up I too want to start a leather business, making wallets and belts. There's so much joy in working with leather it's undescribable, I take it you caught the same leather bug is me. LOL
It's truely a pleasure to watch a artisan at ones craft...whatever it may be in life. Makes one appreciate the finer things in life even though we all may not be able to afford such luxury. My compliments indeed!.

This is the behavior that wholesalers and retailers or distributors only do in this way. For example, why brands such as Chanel, Gucci and LV have used their logos for many years, so the cost is very low.
Everyone talking about how they could never afford a pair of shoes like this all while using thier $800+ iPhones and androids....its just a matter of priorities...
It's a good video, but also a bit misleading. Goodyear welting is done by machine in a two-step process, to first attach the welt strip, the upper, and the rib of the insole together; and the second to attach the welt to the sole. The welt ties it all together. Yes, it's done by hand... a hand using a machine. What was shown here is hand stitching using a braided stitch often found in Norvegese, Bentivegna, and Goyser constructed shoes. Since this shoe has a welt (the thin leather strip shown at 7:02) this is a hand-welted shoe. There's nothing Goodyear about it. The only industrial process used was the sewing machine to attach the pieces of the upper. To see a Goodyear welt done there are many videos here. Select one from a Goodyear machine maker rather than a shoe maker to see the real deal. To hand sew a shoe as shown here takes a few hours. To sew a shoe using a Goodyear welting machine takes a few seconds.
Goodyear welting can and is done BY HAND in high end shoe companies, like Paul Parkman. STOP USING WIKIPEDIA AS YOUR ONLY SOURCE OF INFORMATION!!!!!! OMG!!! senorkaboom Calm down, no one is forcing you to buy his shoes. Also, this is how most real fine leather handmade shoes really cost. Your $100 leather shoes is probably just a smooth leather upper with synthetic sole and does not have Goodyear welt.
